Can't sell someone you don't own ;)
Yea, i realized my mistake once i left this thread but couldn't bother editing it, but you a right.

What i am saying is i hope the interest is genuine from Arsenal and Cleverley chooses them:D

For Cleverley's sake, I hope he goes to Everton. He'll work with a manager who rates him and can have a say in the competition in this club.

Also I would like to see him in Spain (if Moyes stays at Sociedad)

That's bloody cheap. Why would Dortmund sell for that low, especially after just losing their manager and finishing midtable? Don't think he'll leave for that price, surely not.

How is that cheap for a CB?

£30million for a centre half is by no means cheap. Also his value has probably taken a little hit recently.

£29m ~ €40.5m would actually make him the biggest Bundesliga transfer of all time surpassing the likes of Martinez, Gotze, Neuer, Benatia, Gomez, Ribery in recent seasons. The fact that Hummels has suffered some injuries this season and been a bit inconsistent (compared to his splendid 2010-2013 form) probably pushes his evaluation down a bit.

Its BILD, who are apparently a rubbish tabloid type rumor mill.

TBH, while BILD is a tabloid, their rumors often tend to be true. Bild is probably as a whole the best-informed newspaper in germany sports-related (I'd even rate them higher then kicker) and astonishingly reliable. They invest a lot of money in sources. So if anyone breaks a story of greater calibre, it's either a regional paper (who is directly linked with the reported club) or BILD.

Why would that be cheap? Hummels has had a rather disappointing season, faced a few injuries, Dortmund is probably not playing in the CL next year and will have to sell Hummels and Hummels himself isn't undoubtfully world-class if you ask me (then again, there are not many CBs out there, who are). 29m is a pretty good amount.

Martinez was £31.8m.

Ah yeah, you may be correct. Same with Götze, I think.

Mangala. Luiz. Lovren. Hell, even Jones cost £16m as a teenager.

In context, Hummels is better value than any of them defenders.

Well we don't know that yet. He could flop and prove to be a disaster.

The inflated valuation used by certain clubs like City (Mangala) or PSG (Luiz) isn't a rule of thumb and shouldn't have a major effect on the rest of the clubs or their transactions. Just like Andy Carroll's fee didn't make every half decent striker worth £30m+.

If we consider players similar to Hummels in terms of caliber or potential - Benatia (considered to be the best central defender in Serie A after Chiellini) transferred to Bayern Munich for €26m in the same window as the Mangala/ Luiz deals, arguably the best defender in Europe last season Diego Godin has a €35m buyout clause which can be readily activated, and the biggest defensive talent of the last 5 odd seasons transferred to Madrid for just €10m including add-ons.

Yes. But when you compare the transfers, Mangala - unproven at any decent level
Luiz - widely considered as erratic and not so great
Lovren - one decent season in the premiership at a decent team. Nothing more.
Jones - showed a lot of spirit in a not very good Blackburn team
Hummels - World Cup winner

I know who I'd take the risk on.

But the only thing that really matters to me is if Van Gaal wants him. If he does and he signs him, great. If he doesn't, I won't be disappointed.

Edit: words

The Euro right now is almost equal to the dollar @ 1.08. Just 2 years ago 1 euro was worth 1.40 dollars.

It's a great time to be buying European players with definite asking prices, the likes of Hummels and Dybala. Or those with buyout clauses like Laporte.

Probably won't get a better summer for it given the exchange rate.
