As for Hargreaves comments, I never thought I'd hear someone compared to Beckenbauer while basically being criticized. Hummels isn't fast but if Hargreaves thinks he lacks physicality I question if he's watched him much, and in truth neither Terry or Vidic were very fast and both were regarded as world class CB's.
His comments about Dortmund being bottom of the Bundesliga were snarky and asinine considering Hummels was the main CB in Dortmund's league winning seasons and in Germany's World Cup win last summer.

I understand what he's saying in that we need a commanding, dominating presence at the back and I'd agree with that. The way he said it is ridiculous though. Basically saying Hummels is shite defensively along with beckenbauer which is complete bollocks. I'm hesitant on if we should spend a ton on Hummels because his injury record is far from flawless and he isn't that physical beast type defender that I think we need more then anything at the moment.
