Was just thinking I had both Lucho and Seedorf in the 70s final, but wasn't sure how exactly I used them. Not very well it seems. What a clusterfeck of great players. This was back when we used to only take reinforcements from the beaten side. I really badly needed a left winger yet I kept coming across brilliant central players :(

That was the day Gary Kelly entered draft folklore as the worst rightback to ever win one of these things.

Plans are overrated, I don't have the slightest idea what I'm doing :lol:. I thought about a theme all day, but couldn't think of anything I like with the born after '70 restriction :(.

:D doesn't help me too much. I'm still really conflicted on which way to go for it. On the one hand, I won't find a more suitable RW to cover for Piszczek, who as fine as he is, won't be enough to stop a Figo/Dinho/Nedved/Cristiano..
On the other hand, they might make a brilliant CM partnership..

I actually prefer Lucho as an inside right, not a winger tracking back to cover his fullback. I would think about it differently, you won't get a better right-side CM to support Piszczek. Off the top of my head, I would only rate Gattuso higher at that right-flank support job, but he doesn't do the same stuff going forward ;)

Re: Seedorf, you could do with reading the stick he got in the quarter or semi (basically, as soon as I picked him up from a rival team). You would think the guy never won the CL, let alone four times. :rolleyes: Immobile/lacks engine, not creative enough... basically people put together the bad bits at different stages of his career into one Seedorf package that never existed at any one time. e.g. you shouldn't get an experienced great football brain Giggs gliding down the wing while acting as a playmaker of sorts, but you shouldn't get a teenage version of him with his legs gone either.

The funny thing is this auction is proving what we've all said and known all along. Iirc, the midfield trio behind Messi went for a combined 208M, so no one here could put them three AND Messi together. Only Barca did, and the results shouldn't be surprising.

For 20M less Ronaldo Fenómeno is a comparative bargain there, proven anywhere he went, alongside anyone at all, and whatever shape he was in.

Yeah I'm really cracking my head over it, I have better CM options atm in mind than RW... Do you see both played as CM in a 4-2-3-1? Or maybe a 4-4-1-1? 4-4-2? because these are my directions atm...

Yeah I think currently Aldo's 85M for Ronnie is a great bargain. I think my Giggs' 20M less bid is worthy of their differences but Ronaldo is far more vote winner.

I don't see them as an ideal CM pair, that's where Gio had a point re: building a midfield around Seedorf. I would have them both ahead of a pivot, that's how they both played their best football, in midfield threes. If you want them both in midfield it's a 4-3-3, no two ways about it. Looking at players you bid for earlier:

would be awesome. No need to play the best barnstorming pivot either. Paulo Sousa would do an excellent job there too.

Only player I would have bought by now if my outrageous bids stood. I think like for like you are better off with the spare 20M, although Ronnie has the advantage of being able to target whichever is the weaker fullback. Not a minor consideration that.
