Well we're in the last 24 hours, so here is the obligatory thread, now it's time for twitter to overload while Harry Redknapp and Bryan Swanson both charge numerous phones and Jim White prepares his caffeine for the day ahead.

Quiet day I reckon, Torres and Adam are the two lingering big stories and its looking they'll both stay where they are. There will be lots of talk from SSN with their new touch screen telly but not much action.

Not sure I agree with that in the case of Torres.

The beauty of Twitter is you can start a complete bullshit rumour and some people will believe it. I might start one, and trendwhore away.

I don't think so. Torres moves early afternoon followed by a frantic minute-by-minute report of Harry Redknapp's Spanish striker hunt.

One thing is for certain 'Arry will sign someone or he might die a little inside.

Torres will probably move to Chelsea, maybe Spurs will get another striker when what they probably need is a defender.

Should be a fun day with all these sightings at airports, twitter updates and exclusives from Guillem Ballague which turn out to be more misleading than the Iraq Dossier. Get the popcorn ready...

Twitter is epic when it comes to deadline day

The best "rumour" so far is definitely the one about a girl who has apparently sold Kaka an English phrase book in a Madrid Book Shop. Imaginative.

My mate has no contacts, isn't a taxi driver and he doesn't work at an airport. He doesn't know anything.

After 2 weeks at #qpr Pascal Chimbonda has handed in a transfer request.

Apparently Bebe has been seen buying Dundee cake in Asda...

My mate is on a flight from Spain and tells me Llorente and Aguero are playing rock, paper scissors across the aisle.

A few there.

I hope we sign an attacking mid or a left winger. Would benefit is a immensely in the final run-in. But I won't be holding my breath. Hope Torres stays with the dippers as we have to face Chelsea twice yet.

I actually believe it is possible. Just ignore Chelsea for a day. Make it very hard for them to get the deal done. But on the downside you have an extremely unhappy player getting paid 110k/week for the next 6 months.

LOL reading through all the transfer threads I cant believe how many people seem to believe in all the Spurs transfer stories - making bids for 5 strikers over 1 weekend? Having almost £40m to spend on a player that would never join them?:lol::lol:

Classic cafe :lol::lol::lol:

The caf "cannee take the strain" whenever anything remotely interesting happens in relation to utd, at least on my connection.

Same for everyone. The Bale to Inter story killed it for 30 minutes the other day and the start of the FA Cup game killed it for nearly an hour on and off. No way could it cope with the Berbatov deadline day deal these days.

Spurs fail in Aguero bid

Sky Sports News understands that Tottenham have failed with a bid to land Atletico Madrid ace Sergio Aguero.

The Argentine international, who has been closely linked to Chelsea and city-rivals Real Madrid in the past month, is said to have been the subject of an offer from Spurs.

Sky Sports News report that Spurs have bid £38.5million (€45million) for Aguero - but the bid was rejected, which does trigger his release clause but taxes mean the player would have to pay much more than that figure to buy himself out.

Hours earlier Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo underlined his commitment to keep Aguero.

"It is unthinkable that Kun [Aguero's nickname] can go," he said.

"Players play where they want to play, and Kun and Diego Forlan want to play at Atletico Madrid.

"Offers, we have no offers, and we are not a selling club, we want to continue with these players that serve us well."

Sky sources also understands Tottenham have had bids for Athletic Bilabo's Fernando Llorente, Villarreal's Giuseppe Rossi and Sevilla's Alvaro Negredo rejected as Spurs look to bring in a new striker before the close of the transfer window.
