Torino Winter Olympics 2006

Gerber is quality on his day. He has played for the team I support in Sweden for 2 seasons before going to NHL and he was unreal some matches. Unfortunately some other matches he was Dudek.
I remember him from WC in Switzerland a few years ago. His career rose there.

Forsberg was supposed to be taken it easy this game, he has played 8 out of 11 minutes so far hehe.

well... they stunned the czech as well...
don't worry, the medals are still in our pockets :D

Second period | 15:10
Calling Judge Judy. Is there a Judge Judy in the house?
Second period | 15:10
What's going on? Are they going to the Court of Arbitration for Sport for a ruling on this? Make a decision already.
Second period | 15:10
Goal for Canada! Wait a second. The play is under review and the video goal judge is deliberating. Martin Gerber made a sensational glove save off Nash, but it looks as if the Swiss keeper may have pulled the puck back out of the net. This is taking a long time. What's going to happen?
 Judge Judy

I couldnt care less about that to be honest with you. But of course i want the finns to win but it wont happen...

Do you want Yanks to be beaten ?

Just ask Slovaks to do...;)

Slovakia - USA 2:1 :D

Geez, reading this thread, you would think that the Winter Olympic are just about hockey.

Ptui!

Finland 4 - 2 Czech rep. Decent game and a good win. We're somewhat dependant on our first line, but as long as they keep delivering we won't have many problems.

Was the attack on Jagr bad? I didn't watch the game.

Italian police have staged drugs raids on the Austrian biathlon and cross-country teams' Winter Olympics accommodation in Pragelato near Turin.

The International Olympic Committee confirmed that unannounced doping tests, out of competition, had been conducted on several Austrian athletes.

Alfred Eder, a trainer for the Austrian biathlon team, said police searched and interviewed athletes for four hours.

"We are very angry," Eder said. "It is not very gentlemanly."

No Austrians have medaled in biathlon or cross-country in Turin so far, the highest finish in either by an Austrian athlete being Wolfgang Perner's fourth place in the men's biathlon 10km sprint.

Russian biathlon star Olga Pyleva was stripped of a silver medal and expelled on Thursday after testing positive for the stimulant carphedon.
The police raid came after the World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) raised suspicions about the Austrians with the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Wada chief Dick Pound said officials seeking to test biathletes in Austria instead found blood-doping equipment connected to banned coach Walter Mayer.

Mayer was barred from the 2006 and 2010 Winter Games by the IOC after similar equipment was found at the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City.

"We were concerned something might be going on in Italy," Pound said.

"The IOC is fulfilling its responsibility to conduct anti-doping control on athletes who might have been under his (Mayer's) influence," the IOC said in a statement.

Doping violations carry tough sentences under Italian law with offenders facing sentences up to three years in prison.

The Italian government introduced strict doping laws before it won the right to host the 2006 Games and has refused to relax them to correspond with IOC rules.

The IOC's regulations encompass only non-penal sanctions for drugs users.

A last-minute compromise between the IOC and the host country was reached on who would handle the doping tests during the Games.

But it failed to include a moratorium on launching criminal procedures against athletes found using banned substances. That left the IOC concerned that athletes could be subjected to police raids and face prison sentences if they tested positive.

that play was sick.
Jagr had his head down fighting for the puck, then Jarkko Ruutu charged him from behind, Jagr went down, didn't get up for like 5 secs.

actually, i've already forgotten. did the ref call penalty on that play?

Bollocks! It was NOT from behind!

Jagr hadnt his head down when Ruutu begun his tackle, he put it down just before Ruutu charged him.

And if Jagr wouldnt have had a helm from the 70s he wouldnt have started bleeding.

It wasn't that bad. Jagr had his head down near the board, wore a helmet that is banned in the NHL i.e. from the 70s. This is why Jagr got the cur. The 5+20 was an overreaction, had it been any other player than Jagr it would have been 2 min. It was not from behind as some people say and he did not use his elbow either, what he might have had was too much speed. It was more down to Jagr not being ready for it, he should have known to keep his head up.

Anyways, Ruutu didn't get banned from playing today, and Jagrr will be able to play today, which certainely indicates it was an overreaction by the media.

Correct, would have warranted a 2 min penalty if it had been any other player than Jagr.

I read it in Aftonbladet so I thought it was a overreaction.

Yeah, it is. But the swedish media and experts don't like Ruutu very much. Didn't he try to beat up one of your players in the players hotel during the last world championships

Anyways, it is a good thing that we have both Ruutu and Nieminen in the team. as we are totally dependant on one line. The canadians might try to hurt Selanne / Koivu but they also know that Ruutu is capable of almost anything i.e. taking they stars out as a revenge so they might even be nice tonight :) It is unfortunately a risk to have him aswell. My team HIFK lost the local playsoffs here a couple of seasons back when Ruutu decided to ram the goalkeeper twice in the same game and they scored during the power play. YEsterday he got a 5 minute penalty, could have decided the game but fortunately the stupid czech player jumped him and took a 2 min and minimized the damage.

feckin swedes... They had a poll in the studio about the tackle and 78% (i think) thought that Ruutu should be banned for the rest of the tournament. :wenger:

 should fecking concentrate on their own games, so far they have only been able to beat shit teams and now suddenly think they are contenders with one win over might latvia

Noticed that the Italian police have raided the austrians now. They should do the same with the norwegians IMO.

The Bjorgen situation reminded me about Lahti 2001 and Finland a lot :) a sudden stomach flue and then stops in the middle of the race. After that the norwegians have won nothing. Could it be that WADA found out tests against the drugs they were using and the norwegians got information of this.

Tjenare.

mvh, Alex

PS; tur att allt iaf är OK med Jagr.
I just sent this e-mail to Mr Wikegård.

I hope I get a reply.
