Television Top Gear

Apparently Netflix want him as well. That would definitely be my preference, hate ad breaks.

who's that motorbike bloke - Guy Martin - he'd be a good presenter.

I love Clarkson, but at the end of the day, you can't go around punching a colleague and expect to get away with it..

What frightens me about all this, is that when the revamp of Top Gear post Clarkson dies on its arse which it probably will do. Then we get another fecking cooking program or game show or more reality TV where we can entertain ourselves cheaply so more money can be spent on East Enders. Or perhaps they can make a show about a hospital, working in hospital or going to and from a hospital for a change.

I don't see many other shows on TV that are anything like Top Gear. I won't miss Clarkson who is a full weight cnut for behaving the way he has. I will miss having some level of interest in some thing on TV.

Even if I only really watch the program now because I went to school with James May.

Unless you're a footballer.

When they replace Clarkson, Top Gear will lose the man who sets the show apart from its US incarnation. He's the reason that the worldwide audience don't watch the yank version instead. He is, unfortunately for the BBC, more important than the format.

It's official now. I'm gutted as I still love Top Gear, but he can't have any complaints.

Delighted he has finally got his comeuppance the Tory cnut.

He seems to have a fair bit of support on here. What's the view of our Clarkson loving Irish brethren that the producer got some old school stick about being a thick Paddy off him?

Hammond and May present other programmes on the BBC and are still to decide on whether or not to renew their contracts too. Could they renew for that and just quit Top Gear to follow Clarkson to Sky or whatever?

I hope he's allowed to find another job and idiots leave him alone. No doubt some idiots will blame him.

But Clarkson should be blamed for top gear ending.

Before this happened this thread was 30% discussing Clarkson's various racial misdemeanours, 60% lamenting how shit Top Gear had become and 10% saying "that was actually a decent episode" in a tone of surprise.

Shame, but it what it is. They could have aired the last two episodes though, no? That's bloody annoying they did that, they'd have been aired already during this whole saga coming to a conclusion.

 So true!

I actually think that a lot of people watched just to see what gaff the presenters would commit next. I'm gonna miss that.

Heh, yep.

Shame to see him go. Think it was probably inevitable, he did punch someone. On the other hand, if it was a private company they'd probably have found away not to kill the golden goose which would have been better management, but as it's the liberal lefty bbc it's no surprise they opted to axe him.

Not going to bother renewing my licence fee next year that's for sure.

I think that the bits in the studio are recorded on the Thursday before the show usually airs.

Replace 'various racial misdemeanours' with 'deaths of random black guys' and you've pretty much got The Walking Dead's thread.

James May on his future:

"Erm, well I don’t want to talk about that too much but I think we are very much the three of us as a package. It works for very complicated reasons that a lot of people don’t fully understand. So that will require a lot of careful thought ...Much as I think he’s a knob I quite like working with Jeremy."

I think if Hammond says anywhere near the same we'll be seeing Top Gear back just under a different name and different channel.

Top Gear just won't be the same without that prat at the helm, but I fully accept the director general's view on things.

"For me a line has been crossed. There cannot be one rule for one and one rule for another dictated by either rank, or public relations and commercial considerations."

Ultimately, it's the right decision.

I don't watch Top Gear anymore, haven't for a few years now. I've always thought he's a cnut, even if he was clearly good at what he does. Definitely the right decision from the BBC though. Not sure how much longer Top Gear can go on without him, probably without the other two too. Though again, it's good that the BBC haven't decided to keep him on because of the revenues Top Gear brings in.

Sorry to see the end of Top Gear, I'm sure Clarkson will pop up on some other channel soon. Sounds like he was a bit of a cnut in this incident, doubt his overall popularity will be affected greatly.

I'm struggling to care about all this. Top Gear in it's current form has been finished for me for a while, and whilst I sometimes like Clarkson, he is also clearly a bully and got what he deserved.

The BBC had a huge decision here, about time they finally appeared to have made the right one for once.
