Top 3 Game Consoles ever?

I rate the PS higher to the PS2 cos the PS was the first of its sort... sort of...

1. Amiga
2. Playstation
3. I haven't had three. Gameboy?
4. Wait, who am I kidding. I've got an Xbox 360. It's alright.

I guess the Amiga is technically a computer, but it's still #1 ;)

PS3 for me is my favourite for all round entertainment.

Being able to stream movies is fantastic.

1. super nintendo
2. ps1 (and i hate playstation but it's affect to the industry cannot be denied)
3. xbox (due to the power of bringing network gaming on console to the masses)

In terms of games, PS2 wins hands down, it just does.

In terms of breaking ground technically, then Amiga wins it hands down, because it was so much better than any of its competition. There is a YouTube video that shows it and the Atari ST together, and it's a bit of a joke, but that was at a time when the PC had problems beeping and putting 4 colours on the screen. PS3 is the closest thing that reminds me of Amiga in that it's daring and different.

You are all fecking bonkers. No console has ever had nor ever will have the quality, quantity, depth, or range as the PS2.

I had one, and hated it. The graphics weren;t great either, it was just so hard to programme for. I've got a few mates in the industry and they said everyone disliked making games for it. Dreamcast however was inferior interms of spec, but more programmer friendly and for this reason alone churned out better looking games.

I don't see what this has to do with it. Nothing, and I mean nothing has a games library like PS2. Nothing ever will.

PS1 was much better. It was a big leap from 16 bit gaming. Was the first time we played in proper 3-D environments. The next gen up, was just more of the same with slightly better graphics. By that time we had seen it all before.

In terms of quality games.

Nintendo consoles > Playstation consoles

Nah. I think if you went back and compared the N64 libary of games to the PS1, or the Gamecube to the PS2, its not even close. I don't think the Wii has that many great games to be honest either (except the usual suspects of Mario, Zelda etc). Nintendo consoles usually have a few real gems but theres a lot of crap too.

PS1 was actually not that clever, and had serious flaws. PS1 had what is called a chunky pixel mode, and a chip capable of drawing triangles. IF Amiga had had a chunky pixel mode, which it didn't for various reasons, it would have been better than PS1.

Correct. How anyone can argue against the PS2 software library is beyond me. There is nothing else to compete with that monster, which is why it still sells today.

Explain to me how the latest generation of consoles are not the best? surely if they are not the best than what would be the point in buying them, and how can they demand such high prices?
