Toni Kroos

He's at the best club right now and plays on a regular basis and will most likely do so in Brazil. But hey, I wouldn't mind if we got him

This is what confuses me too. At the beginning of the season, there was always debate as to which player would be isolated by Pep, because he simply had too many CMs and one had to miss out. Schwein was thought to be one, as was Kroos. He is being played more as an attacking midfielder though, but dropping him deeping is a possibility too.

It must be an issue of money, and not a desire to leave. Smells extremely Iniesta-like to me. Those photos of Moyes and his agent together are bringing another muppet saga out of me. Who is he also an agent of?

They were already at the start of the season after which Pep has converted Lahm to a DM.
We really aren't that loaded. We have 4 players for those 3 CM positions and at least 2 of them are constantly injured throughout the season so far. Lahm is there because we don't have any other choice really and thank god, Rafinha is doing a good job as a rightback, but I really don't want to play for example Real in the CL with Rafinha as rightback against Ronaldo, because Lahm still has to help out in midfield. That would be a huge feckup by the club, after all we already sold/let go 4 midfielders this season.

You have Lahm, Bastian, Javi Martinez, Toni Kroos, Thiago and Hojberg. That's 6 for 3 positions, it is only in top games that you need Lahm more at rightback and all, but otherwise in the league I don't Rafinha has been an issue so it should be okay.

If needed I guess Pep can (has he already?) try Muller in the middle with two of the aforementioned.

Not saying you don't need Kroos, but you can understand why a United fan would think that is pretty much loaded in every sense of the word. :D

From BILD.

Its starting to look disturbingly like Moyes is just following the agent round everywhere he goes.

I also like how they've put a red circle around Moyes.

Hojbjerg is a bit of a stretch, he's still only a 18year old youth player, hardly an option, he might get a few minutes, but if not for an even worse injury crisis, he really shouldn't start.

And Lahm is still a rightback, if we start counting players who can help out but would be played out of position, then yeah, we're well stocked, but it still hurts us in other positions. Müller, Götze, Shaqiri have all played there, Alaba could with Contento coming in, but it's all a massive loss in quality for the team and the bench would be really really thin. Selling Kroos would be a huge feck up by the club, even though we might get away with it.

True. But as you said you have ways to not miss him, you might need to switch to 4-2-3-1 at times for that or something but the squad isn't short by any means.

This situation is quite different for Pep than his Barca days. During the peak of that Barca team his starting 11 was more or less fixed and the squad overall was pretty thin and he generally only had youth players on the bench, and the same 11 started week in week out. Quite the contrary here, with the constant rotation where he doesn't have a fixed starting 11 but has a massive squad to always field a team with enough quality to beat anyone else.

Pretty sure we go for a 3-4-3 soon though, which makes it even more unlikely that we let another midfielder go. There really are no plans to revert to a 4231. Wouldn't be surprised if we saw it in one of the next games, when a few of our injured players are back. That would also mean that Lahm really would play regularly in midfield. Pep worked on that in the trainings camp during the winter break a lot.

I talked about this transfer to a friend of mine yesterday who is a Bayern fan and I being drunk I was stupid stupid enough to make a bet with him that he will be our player come next summer. Jeez what the hell was I thinking? He just wants a better contract with Bayern. :(

Interesting. I reckon in that case Lahm would probably be more on the right side of the midfield instead of DM. And where will Alaba play then? He looks like a natural midfield at times with his ability on the ball so can fit in, I guess.

Alaba might even play the left sided centerback, depends on what role Martinez will play, one of the three at the back or the one at the bottom of the midfield diamond. Really tough to tell, should be interesting how close it'll be to Cruyff's dream team at Barca. Interesting times, that's for sure.

Yeah that's what came to mind as well. Cruyff used wingbacks as CBs as well. He explained all this in this video, pretty funny and interesting to see him explain it.

I linked to that video twice in my fantasy draft games, would have used it directly, if I ever came up against a diamond, but TITO decided to play that magic square thingy :(

Kroos looks a really good player and one which would do well over in the PL

I simply can't see him leaving Bayern mind as Germans never seem to want to stay to far from the Bundesliga
