Going on loan to Stoke according to rumours and the like. Apparently was fit at the weekend but didn't make the squad and allegedly not getting on with AVB.

2 seasons ago when he had that full season with Modric he looked very very good. Not saying we should sign him but what is AVB doing? He's comfortably a better football player than Livermore.

Not sure about that really. Huddlestone has flatter to decieve imo. Hes 25 now and certainly has his weaknesses. Livermore is 3 years younger aswell. Neither are all that imo. Maybe Spurs have enough "footballers" in their midfield.

He's got the sweetest shooting technique in the world. I'm not even kidding.

They have Sandro, Parker and Livermore. Unless you wanna count Siggurdson (sp?) and VDV as genuine midfield players.

I think he's a good player. Certainly better than Livermore.

He is too slow for AVB's preferred football. It's for that same reason AVB had dropped Mikel at chelsea.

Ah. Well in that case it's odd he's offering him around on loan rather than a permanent deal.

Great deal for Stoke, their centre mid's are one of the worst in the league. Compared to the rest of their squad they needed to improve CM, though I rated Palacious it hasn't worked out so far, though injuries played a role.

Wasn't there talk of us being interested in him as a Scholes replacement a few seasons back?

That's because their midfield is generally completely bypassed and just act as extra defenders just pushed slightly higher up the pitch.

I don't think so, because they aren't even good defensively. Whelan, Whitehead and Delap are all just very average footballers, if Pulis had good CM's who just acted as extra defenders like you say, they would be a far better team. As it is, their central midfield currently does feck all, not good in attack, not good in defence.

They offer high pressure and hard work though. Palacios fit the mould too.

I'm not arguing Huddlestone wouldn't be an upgrade because he obviously would. Just that area never really seems of any real priority to Pulis because as long as he's getting a lot of hard work from them he's happy because they never really get used.

All of Stoke's attacking goes back to front very very fast either by a long ball or down the wings.

He can certainly ping a ball, and that's all they will do. Ping it onto Crouch's head from where ever Huddlestone is.

When Huddlestone wants he can be an extremely good footballer. Just a shame he doesnt seem to get our of second gear half the time.

I liked the look of em about 2 years ago, hes waned a bit since then.

I didn't realise how big Huddlestone was until I saw him "live" Television doesn't do him justice, he's a f*cking monster. No wonder he seems to lumber around the pitch.

Good passer, good striker of the ball. A shame this is happening in time for Sunday.

I'm forever going to be wondering when the next time Stoke will sign someone under 6 foot is though.

They've probably got one of those "you need to be this height.." funfair signs outside their training ground. No wonder the Michael Owen deal fell through...

 He'd feel like a schoolboy in their changing room!

I was just reading through Oatcake(which makes me appreciate the Caf) and the vitriol towards Tony Pulis is very interesting to read.

'I was happier before Pulis when I wasn't sure how we were going to score before the match kicked off.'

Great line.

Tom has played in defence but hes a typical midfield player. At the back, he would be a sort of Franz Beckenbauer. As a sweeper he would be the best player in the world — but who plays with a sweeper nowadays?

Tom is 19, hes big. It can be an advantage, it can be a disadvantage but the boy is great. "I would almost say that I have never seen a player like him, when hes got the ball.

...

God I hate Stoke. I know they're the only team in the world who could challenge Barcelona but they're still cnuts.

They are one of the teams that I couldn't be arsed about if they went down. Having said that, when a rival is playing them, there's always the chance they'll nick a result and do us a favour.

Think you're underrating Livermore a bit. Looks a very tidy player from what I've seen of him and certainly more mobile than Huddlestone

Certainly more mobile but I don't think he's particularly talented. Seems just another decent player.

I thought Livermore looked like their Cleverley last season, didn't look so good against Newcastle though.

I could see Huddlestone turning into a marvellous central defender eventually.

The amount of people who hate him is amazing. He's done wonders for that club.

It is probably because he briefs his team to go and smash the opposition, that some opposition players end up with serious injuries against them; that one of their specialities is a long throw in and that they play god damn awful football.

That said, maybe we should sign 'The Stone', to smash Fellani and Toure four times a year.

Was very promising when he came out of Derby's academy. Injuries have somewhat stalled his progress.

Can play CB as well as CM but it'd be a bit of a waste playing him there due to the technical side of his game.

Is this confirmed?

If so, and if Modric makes his move then I expect Spurs to sign M'Vila (if we don't make a move for him).

Another one who would thrive at a big club. Would love us to swoop in for him if the Fellaini deal proves too expensive/complicated. The right age, great passing, if we could get him the correct fitness training, he could be our Xabi Alonso.

He's a more immobile version of Darron Gibson. Nowhere near good enough.

You're weird.
