Gaming Tom Clancy's - The Division | Division 2 announced

Thanks!

I'm getting the hang of it now, kinda...
As for selling, is it worth selling items (for what seems pennies), or deconstructing them for later use?
Also, is the game auto save. I'm scared to turn it off

Hope you saved before you turned it off... Nah, it saves auto, especially with it being an online game, it saves pretty regularly I think. Atleast if anything important happens.

Me and HB are currently doing a level 14 mission while ranked 9 and 11 and we've got our arses handed to us. Trying to get some higher level ones to join. Get 70k+ XP if we complete it though

Did you manage to do it? I'd rather look for missions my level or do side quests till I get to the required level. No point storming through :p as the drops will probably be too high a level for you to use anyway

Got to Level 7 last night at the very end. Happy as this means I can use my SCAR-H that I bought.

I used the SCAR-H in the beta and loved it - it's semi-automatic and much prefer that to an automatic rifle.

Although it's my secondary weapon technically, the M1A marksman rifle is my main weapon. Love how much damage it does - and you can get good results either using the scope or firing it normally. The only downside is that I don't have too much ammo for it. I have added the Extended Magazine to this, and will continue to upgrade this one.

The Defiler is v good for close range so works well as my sidearm.

Abilities wise, I am going down the Medical route, followed by Tech.

I switched some gear around to increase my health, but I think I need to get a better balance as my DPS suffered. Saying that, the biggest issue on the missions last night was dying, rather than lack of damage being inflicted on them!

Really enjoying it so far - taking it slow, but liking playing that way.

Yeah we did, and I agree. After that, HB and I did a few side missions. Can still get a bunch of XP from that. Got 10k for one that I can't remember now.

That Cnut at the end of the Subway Morgue Mission  A good shot of both my m1a and M4 magazines, he need another 2 shots I'd say and I ran into a feckin dead end, cornered like a rat and no ammo! It was 2 am and I went to bed as thick as shit, herself wasn't best pleased...

I did the subway morgue myself last night (several times almost because I kept getting kicked out of the game half way through ) I actually found the cnut at the end of the mission to be okay, emptied bullets into him like a motherfecker and then would just keep running away and keeping at a safe distance. Didn't run out of ammo but I was very close to running out.

My plan last night was to level up a bit and work on the upgrades. Kept getting kicked out and had to leave the game pretty frustrated because it was just irritating me. Plan for today now is to work on upgrading should the game not throw me out every couple of minutes. Up to level 7 as well and just taking my time with it, don't really feel like flying through the game all that much, I like going through at a nice easy pace.

Finally got on this last night after a cock up with the delivery on Tuesday. Great game so far, just got to Manhatten and set up the base camp - hopefully I'll come across some better weapons now, still rocking the weapons from the start. What's the best way to go about this? I guess it's not from enemy drops and more reliant on purchasing them?

One gripe I had, on the final Brooklyn mission I somehow got pushed & stuck behind a supply cache just before the final rooftop battle - had to restart the whole mission

I picked up most of my weapons - the only exception was the SCAR-H, which I bought because I liked it in the beta so much. I think you get a feel for what kind of weapons you prefer fairly quickly. I don't like the automatic assault rifles so much and prefer the semi-automatic marksman rifles. Was lucky that I picked up one of them, but have picked up a whole load of different ones so far. Most of them I deconstruct for the parts, although I did sell a couple to fund the purchase of the SCAR.

Ah, that's good news. I suppose you get more 'loots' once you're in Manhatten then, I suppose the first 3 missions in Brooklyn are just to get used to the game. Will definitely be on the look out for a semi-automatic rifle, the automatic one you are given is just far too erratic and needs to be controlled in short bursts to get some decent ranged shots.

Got myself a lovely blue scar h blueprint!

I watched a bit of gameplay of this the other day and the enemies looked pretty bullet spongey. Does it feel like that to you chaps in game?

Yes, but it's not really a shooter - it's an RPG with guns, if that makes sense. So you can't compare the enemies to those you see in COD etc.

Yes and the harder difficulty is basically them having more health. The gameplay on Destiny for me is miles better.

Had a pretty frustrating bug happen to me last night. We'd spent maybe a couple of hours grinding through a mission on hard difficulty (level differences in our grp made it a bit of a pain), we get close to the final boss and all of a sudden I start running in a straight line through the map, can't stop, can't turn, can't bring up the esc menu to quit, just keep on going walking through walls. I have to crash the game to stop it and unfortunately I rejoin outside the mission and can't re-enter, the entrance is blocked off.

@Walrus @Vato Did ya manage to finish it? Or more specifically did the turret manage to finish it? :smirk:

Yeah I get that since I played a fair bit of Destiny. Guess it just seems a bit odd in this since it comes across as more 'realistic' than shooting aliens in space

Interesting, since I particularly enjoyed the shooty bang bang gameplay of Destiny. It's what helped to keep me interested to be honest.

Thanks for the opinions chaps! I'll probably end up getting it at some point anyways.

Damn right we it did.

In terms of game comparisons, there are definitely similarities with Destiny. Also see a lot of the Watch Dogs vibe to it, with the living city, random encounters and general "hi tech" feel.

There also seems to be a lot of similarity to good old Hellgate: London. A game which never really took off - though I did play it for a bit.

Overall it is an interesting combination of classic loot grinding (Diablo style) with a decent shooting/cover system and some RPG elements (skills, talent points etc). I like the game quite a bit, although I echo what others feel that it is a bit boring having some punk in a hoodie sponging up thousands of bullets and then one-shotting you with a baseball bat.
Still, doing a hard mode mission last night was definitely a challenge, and one we were able to overcome after a few wipes.

I have yet to experience the end game properly, but I like the sound of the Dark Zone. My concern is that it will all be a bit shallow, at least until the DLC hits (that is another argument in itself... I loathe the current models of paying full price for 50% of a game then having to fork out more on DLC that should come as standard). I hear that there will be a "Last Stand" DLC later this year with essentially wave survival, which I reckon could be excellent if done correctly (eg. Warhammer Dawn of War II).

Is it normal for season pass to sell at the price of main game if sold separately?

Not sure, for the main mission it may do but think for the encounters it will depend what section of the map your in.

I think this is correct, on PC at least. We did a hard mission last night with myself (lvl14) and 3 lvl10s and all the mobs were 14 (I wasnt party leader either).

I think so, sadly.

I ended up

luring him out of that room and just running around one of the power relay things you power up. When he blasted fire the power relay thing stopped the fire from damaging me.

They cost between £20-£40. Fallout 4 season pass was £25 and they later raised that to like £35. But the people who paid £20 get the same content.

With the division, I just bought the gold edition. Basically season pass cost me £20 by doing that.

It doesnt auto save if you are in the middle of a mission.
I was almost at the end of the Napalm mission and have to leave. Logged out and when I logged back in I was back at square one.

Still a fun game tho but I wish the movement was more fluid.
Rise of Tomb Raider is still the most fun game Ive played in a while.

Level are you now @Damien ? Just woke up from nightshift ffs :(
15 so I'm probably around where you are. I'll be on in about half an hour. Up for doing anything really.

Worst thing for me was in the Hudson Camp refugee mission, it showed that there was a phone recording somewhere nearby (this was after I spent ages killing a tough boss solo). I decided to try and find a way to the phone recording, ended up getting stuck and couldn't get out as it wouldn't let me jump onto a bin lorry or over a few binbags. So on two sides there were fences, on one side a bin lorry that I had jumped down from in the first place to get to where I got stuck, and on the final side a bunch of binbags and I couldn't get out and had to start the mission from scratch again.

I never did get that stupid phone recording.

I attempted the Napalm mission (which is a level 10 mission) while on level 7 and alone, it took hours.
Finally I got to the big boss (Joe Ferro) and after about 15 tries got him down to one bar and had to go out.
I logged out and when I logged back in later I realized I lost hours of progress, it was rough man.

Still like the game alot, I even bought the specialist military kit pack and now I'm rocking spec-ops gear.

Think I did that with @One Night Only and someone else and it was tough then. Doing it solo... damn.

Aye I'll be on shortly then damo, think I'm only level 11 mind :p
That's fine. Doing dishes now then will be on.

It took me hours man, the goddamn sun was setting, it was nightfall and I was still battling the god damn big boss.
Perhaps I should have waited till I got to level 10 (I was on level 7 at the time), or found some pals to do it with...but Christ it was hard, quite possibly one of the hardest missions I have ever done in any game.

 That guy is the easiest. All you have to do is run around the gantry from one side to the other, he's slow as feck.

Wait until you get Joe Ferro.

Level 10 boss was Joe Ferro...the napalm boss.
feck that guy :(

There's a mission that is recommended for (I think) level 14s which'll make that look like a cakewalk! Tried it as a level 11 with a level 9 and two similar levels via matchmaking and it was horrendous. Did it in the end but there was one bit in particular that was a nightmare.

Have to extract something, gives you five mins to clear enemies and extract stuff. The enemies are a crapload of cleaners and there are snipers that one/two shot you. All of this takes place in an arena that's a flaming inferno.

I ran out of ammo, thankfully I have the perk that gives me 30 bullets every time I get a kill with a pistol, so I got some more shots from his henchmen.

I kept running out of main ammo for him, had to switch to my 2nd gun.
You are right, you have to keep running away, find cover and shoot to kill him.

Ive never run away that much in a game ever. It took some getting used to.

Did you do that mission alone or with people?
