Firmly agree, it's not our fanbase that's arguing that.
I didn't say that (Werner and Ziyech should be in) I'm just saying that those two automatically firing as a pair isn't the sure thing that's being made out.

Anyway I think both get into a combined XI pretty comfortably.
To point out that you seem to have some Indian sign over us on head to heads sure, but it alone can't be used in an "who's better" argument. Worse teams than United have had hoodoos over us.

I think people have said we are pretty much even as per the league table but if you add in the head to heads it might tip slightly to United given how convincing they have been.
Don't think thats too far fetched. Anyway it's taking the thread off topic so shall move on. I think Werner is a good deal for Chelsea and at a good price. I'm not particularly jealous as he's not what United need but I can acknowledge a good piece of business and more importantly getting things done early.
That's fine but on a global level not on a united level. Most football fans would say werner is a higher or similar rated player.
What? Matuidi was never marauding forward; in possession he stayed wide and somewhat reserved, whilst out of it he dropped into a 3 man midfield. He was needed on the left to provide cover because Pogba was given license to venture forward and was not as diligent defensively. My point is that Pogba is not a good fit into a standard two man midfield unless accommodations are made elsewhere (e.g. having the nominal left attacking mid actually be a defensive midfielder).
Again that's all well and good on paper, but better teams have tried this and failed - see Chelsea with Lampard, Ballack, and Essien (or Makelele) - inevitably one of the attacking mids has to play more reserved and it's a bit of an awkward fit. I'm not suggesting that this is inevitable but hand-waving this away as if it's not a legitimate concern is amusing from an outside perspective to say the least.

Let's not ignore that Bayern baulked at paying 21m for him 12 months back, and Liverpool likewise at 40m.
Including the 12m in agent fees, and the 175k/week wages, this is an expenditure of 102m over the next 4 years as per the BBC.
Chelsea fans are entitled to think it is a super signing but it's not a slam dunk by any means.

That's an entirely reasonable position to take and one we can agree on. There's not much between our squads; I suppose I just took issue (and derailed the whole thread) with the notion that a combined XI would feature 9-10 United players as was suggested.
Werner is a top forward and would improve most of the top teams. The scouse didnt needed a 50M substitute so that s why they didnt signed him.
But what is always amazing is how Chelsea are doing early business and the vision Marina has for the team.
A front 4 of Zyech Werner Pulisic Abraham looks really balanced. Add Kante (even if he s not as good as before). It seems they are tracking Chilwell. They would only need a top CB to build a fantastic XI.
Just hope Ed would be as clever as Marina

We've been able to sign players, they havent. We spent £193 million on players since last summer, that more than covers Pogba
Kovacic has been Chelsea's best player and has featured in just 2 more matches than Rashford, starting even less than him
Bayern weren’t in for him since Werner does not fit their setup/playing style at all.
He fits Chelsea a lot better.
Liverpool havent baulked at anything.
Klopp has spoken to him so clearly wanted him. They just cannot afford him post covid. Thats the only reason they havent bought him. They didnt have second thoughts on him as a player or any of that nonsense they are trying to say now.
Good signing for Chelski, hopefully means no competition for Sancho whenever we go all in for him

Which season was that Leipzig were in genuine title race? If we go by December then we were in title race too in 2017-2018 till December as we were just 8 points behind City.
Yeah I know that sounds ridiculous and that's exactly how I feel even you say Leipzig were in title race in last 4 seasons. Yeah they were this season till December but don't come up with posts as if they are in title race evry season.
You again didn't answerer my question. Is playing for Molde, Salzburg, Rosenberg tougher than playing for Chelsea as they are in title race almost every season?

Surely you'd not argue that there isn't a massive difference between leading the league at the halfway point and being 8 points back, right? Leipzig won the Hinrunde this past year.
And no, I'd not argue that playing for those three is tougher than playing for Chelsea because those leagues are all poor. The Bundesliga is obviously on the same tier as the PL and thus while playing for United invites more scrutiny being involved in a title race creates more pressure to achieve results I'd argue.

Yeah so when they are in title race then we can talk, finishing in top 4 with 10+, 10+, 30+, 15 points behind first place doesn't mean they were in title race, also just because they were closer to first team than ManUtd doesn't mean they challenged for the league either. Its just means both clubs were not in title race. As simple as that.
So you can now see the leagues being poor, playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world will always have more pressure than playing for clubs like Leipzig no matter how close they are (or how far) to first place.

What makes that even more odd is Werner will likely play off the left it won't even affect any of our academy boys chances, it's actually Pulisic who's under the most pressure due to this.

That seems to be the plan - he's been a revelation this season playing as more of an inside left forward / second striker as opposed to leading the line as a 9. If Chelsea line up in 4-3-3, I'd expect Werner to provide the threat in behind from the left, Ziyech to drop into midfield at times to play crossfield passes into him, and Tammy to be the pivot around which the wide two function.
Yes, just as he does at Leipzeig, he will surely play on the left with Tammy up top.
Leipzig use a different formation. It's more a 3-4-3
