Toaster Toes Timo Werner | Tottenham Player

When you watch full games normally though are you particularly focusing on one player? Personally I can watch matches and matches where someone is featured and only really notice oppo players if they do something to particularly stand out.
But someone like Timo should stand out? Its not like Rashford out there who will at least stretch a defence ragged if he doesnt score or create openings from low blocks.
I think he could be a Pogba type player. Not someone who will bring sides up a level but someone who would sync in and flourish when those around him actually perform.

I guess time will tell. It’s still early days.

I think he has been okay. Don't think there is a reason to be worried about him yet.

Havertz looks a worse buy than him currently, cost more and is looking worse.

I really dont like him out wide. I think through the middle he will bag goals. Old cliche and one i sometimes dislike using, but i still think he and Havertz will prove to be quality players once they get to grips with the league. I still remember Drogba getting dogs abuse and being labelled a dud, albeit different kind of striker

Both Werner and Havertz have stated they prefer playing central.

Lampard will forever play him out wide to accommodate Tammy at any opportunity. Same as Havertz being shifted around to accommodate Mount.

Ideally, Pulisic (left), Ziyech (right) and Werner at striker. Havertz slightly behind Werner with Kovacic and Kante further back.

It’s almost a 4231 formation but can easily be changed in game. It clearly gets the best from our players whilst playing them in their favoured position.

There is not a hope in hell that Lampard will play these and drop Mount and Tammy. It just won’t happen, however until players are played in their correct positions, I will refrain from judgement. Lampard’s decision making at times is utterly baffling.

That being said, we have started okay and are routinely disposing of poor teams. However, Lampard needs some belief in his team to have a go at a decent team.

Havertz stated in an interview with Marca that his favoured position is number 8.

Havertz position should be on the bench. Werner just about hanging in. Tammy and Mount look the much better options at the moment.

People on here were saying what a scintillating coup this was for Chelsea... looks a nothing player.

The number of players this place hypes up every summer who end up being bang average is astronomical.

Said it before and I'll say it again it's now abundantly clear why no one was that keen on paying the release clause.

At best he's nothing more than a lightweight, less technical Rashford. I guess it must be pretty easy to score in the Bundesliga.

It's because people don't actually watch these players themselves.

Genuine question- who was the last player to be signed from Bundesliga and became a hit?
I can think of Auba but far too many mishits from that league.

Off the top of my head, De Bruyne, Aaubameyang and Son all turned out well. Sane for a couple seasons looked the business and Pulisic if he can stay healthy will come good.

Well you can literally count the flops starting from Owen Hargreaves to now. Only players which have been great are KDB and Ozil for two seasons.

Ironically he'd suit the current United side down to the ground. Chelseas attacking setup leaves a little to be desired at the moment. Its definitely not getting the best out of him, very much a system player in the wrong system at present. Again I expect they will eventually get the configuration right.

How the feck did I miss KDB. Actually, I stand corrected, it's not the league but its the players.

Bundesliga not german, and theres been plenty of successful bundesliga signings.

De Bruyne, Son, Aubameyang, Gündogan, Sané, Pulisic etc. have all shown their class in the PL, when they were healthy.

For some reason there is this myth, that Bundesliga players don't do well in the PL, when guys like Son or De Bruyne are playing even better in the PL, than they did in the Bundesliga.

I think that has to do with United falling for two actual system players (Kagawa, Mkhitaryan) and Chelsea recently also falling for fools gold (Werner).

People just have to watch tape. It has always been clear that Werner was likely to become a flop. He was a total system player for Leipzig, which I and many others have repeated over and over again. Leipzig took maximum advantage of his one calling card - his pace. Take that calling card away and he is a second division striker.

I wouldnt have Pulisic on that list. Hes more on the flop side atm

Forwards that Chelsea have bought this century:

Higuain, Morata, Pedro, Costa, Falcao, Remy, Salah, Eto'o, Ba, Lukaku, Torres, Sturridge, Anelka, Di Santo, Schevchenko, Drogba, Kezman, Crespo, Mutu, Hasselbaink

I'd only consider 4 out of 18 to be successes. In particular, the likes of Torres, Crespo, Schevchenko, Kezman and Eto'o were all big disappointments given their reputations.

Stamford Bridge is a graveyard for striking talent. Add Werner to the list.

Edit: added Higuain and Morata

KDB was an unequivocal success. There are probably more but I just can't think of them off the top of my head. Sane was gotten from a German club as well wasn't he?

Agree, it was my bad.

That is one helluva list in terms talent and reputation, and as you said, so many of them failed to make their mark.
