Not by any stats or so-called documented top speeds; purely to your own eyes, who are the three fastest?

There was a fleeting discussion about Kyle Walker between a friend and I who was going on about “the Walkers” after Kyle’s zoom for the blindside tackle yesterday. He asked me who I thought was faster, to which I had no answer, and then he waxed lyrical about Walker’s pace before I reeled off a few I thought were faster, which led to me thinking this would be a good idea for a thread. Riveting stuff. No need to thank me. :smirk:

Anyway, an extension of the title would be: who do you perceive to have been the fastest you’ve seen over 10 metres; 40 metres and 75ish metres (you don’t get to see 100m dashes on a football pitch)?

So who are your candidates for any or all of the above?

Walker, Bale, Mbappe

Mainly watch English football so it'll be biased towards that.

10m: Traoré, Walcott, Mudryk
40m: Henry, Mbappe, Bale, Kaka
75m: Van de Ven, Walker

Bobby Carlos was RAPID back in the day.
He was a cheat code player on Pro Evo 3 and 4 - stick him up top and let his pace decimate any defence; pair him with Obafemi Martins and you had a lethal combo.

Traore
Mbappe
van de Ven

These seem a cut above the rest to me as a sprinter myself.

Walker and Walcott are very fast but definitely slower than the above three in a race IMO. I always thought Aaron Lennon was super quick when I saw him as well, along with Hector Bellerin.

But yeah, I honestly don't think anyone other than the top three I listed are capable of sub 10.5s in a 100m sprint which I see as a huge benchmark that most fast top athletes can't break.

Theo Walcot to my eyes he looked like a video on fast forward sometimes.

Antonio valencia especially before the leg break no one was matching him for pace.

Kyle Walker so many counters against city are snuffed out by this guy.

Dan James :) A nothing player, but boy was he fast, when he joined us :)

Think my answers are more based on when I saw a player absolutely burn another one in a straight race. With that said I’ll go Valencia, Traore and Bale. I’ve never trusted the speed stats. You see some bizarre inclusions of players I’ve never even considered quick.

Mbappe
Bale
Walcott

Watching Bale was like watching a horse at Ascott. The length of his stride and running power was something else.

No mention of Giggs so far? Maybe not the actual fastest but I’d expect to see him in more people’s top 3.

David Odonkour, every other answer is wrong.

Odonkour apparently did a 10.23 100m sprint.

Long time ago now but I remember Tony Daley for Villa was absolutely flying. Kanchelskis was ridiculously quick too.

Martins was so fast.
Walcott used to breeze past players.
Owen pre tearing his hammy
Valencia and Bale.

and now Mbappe and Walker

Valencia was the first name that popped in my head.

So many very fast ones - the first three that came to mind were Brazilian Ronaldo, Henry and Robben. And as a plus they were also really good with the ball at top speed (Kaka was the next one I thought about).

One could also mention someone like Walcott who was also very fast but was a meh footballer.

Yesssss...martins is another I was trying to think of! Shevchenko was absurdly quick on that game too.

David Odonkour, every other answer is wrong.

Yeah. Shame about the injuries but I recall Germany throwing him on and he was rapid.
