Titanic tourist submersible missing | Sub's debris found - crew "have been lost"

Stepson of billionaire goes to 'punk' gigs and is abusive to homeless people. We do live in a funny old age.
Not sure which age you’re used to but I don’t regard going to punk gigs normal behaviour when your dad is potentially suffocating to death.

If I’m that 19 year old lad I’m thinking 20 hours of oxygen between 5 is 100 hours of oxygen just for me.

Jonny Rotten sent from ‘Anarchy in the UK’ to full Tory.

Punk counter culture and the consumption of Punk music are divorced now. The latter has been monetised for the masses just as any other music has.

Found these interesting comments on twitter about the likely cause of death if they aren't found alive. Not sure of how accurate these are but you generally find the ex military/navy guys commenting on stories from right wing media outlets because most of them are that way inclined.

Imagine. They find the sub in the next ten hours. It’s just him with a fishing knife, covered in blood and his stomach full of a Sea Karen.

He’d still get a Netflix series and time on stage at a MAGA rally.

And then life in prison above water
If you’re lucky.

What jurisdiction would it be under I wonder. I imagine you’d probably be cleared under exceptional circumstances.

Yeah, agree. Always remember seeing those Trump supporters singing 'Killing in the name'

Kind of a morbid thought but this is a billionaire playing tourist to an underground grave site. In 20 years, will another billionaire be going down to visit both the Titanic and the lost sub as a tourist, visiting both newsworthy sites?

Just off the top of my head I don't think necessity defences for murder in survival situations tend to work. Vaguely recall reading something about it once.

Tbh you’d hope the dinosaurs on board would do the right thing and give the lad every shot

No one has to give a shit about their stepdad. Plenty don't and plenty with good reason.

I was wondering the same but then I don’t have medical knowledge if it indeed increases your chance of survival / level of oxygen if you’re locked in a tin can with 4 rotting bodies rather than 4 living people.

I thought so too but apparently not. From the beeb "Even if Titan is at the surface, it will be difficult to spot. Very little of the small, white vessel sits above the water."

Ah, I see. Cheers.

The worst is having a nap and dreaming of the outside world/loved ones only to wake up and realise you're still stuck in the submersible

As I saw someone say on Twitter, there's gotta be a lot of poop and urine right now is that tiny capsule. Imagine the smell? What a horrific, undignified and pointless end.

Whales trolling. "Aw, poor humans stuck?"
Your last memories on earth are of a billionaire defecating next to you like a commoner.

There's a message in there somewhere.

US coast guard about to go live and give an update in a couple of mins.

Only just realised that the sub could be floating on the surface somewhere and a) could still not be found plus b) they'd run out of oxygen anyway, as the door is bolted on from the outside. Nuts!
Horror movie right there. Floating on the surface, seeing planes flying above and be powerless waiting for the oxygen t run out.

Well the window will likely be covered by water plus, I think the surface tide will be causing horrific sea sickness.

What a horrendous way to die. Pretty morbid to go on a risky trip to see where thousands died and end up in the same boat.

You’d think that with a few planes in action plus satellites they’d quite likely see them if they were indeed floating for a couple of days. I don’t think it’s so likely they’re up there and just can’t be spotted. Either deep stuck on the ground or dead already

This might be a dumb question and perhaps one best answered by the likes of @buchansleftleg but if the submersible was at the surface, but entirely without power, would it give off any heat signature i.e. could It be picked by thermal imaging? Or would the thickenss/materials mean nothing was given off?

Just watched the Sky News update.

Basically, they don’t know where they are and they’re still searching.

They couldn't locate one of the millions of parts of a fallen plane spread over a larger area in a much smaller ocean, so it's likely next to impossible to spot a Vicks inhaler in the biggest ocean on the planet.

It took them 70 odd years to find the titanic itself. It’s a miracle if they’re found alive.

Who pays for these search ops? I saw a BBC interview where someone from US Coast Guard said they were working with various government and private agencies in this effort. The private companies will want money for their time and expertise. Who pays?

Family?

Insurance company?

Unfortunately it's heat signature would be so relatively close to the background sea temperature it would not be visable on a general scan.

The sea is so vast a "Heat sink" that it rapidly drains away any residual heat from the bodies inside the vessel.

You'd need to have some sort of intense heatsource to be picked up.

Normally any sort of vehicle has rescue buoys that ping out a GPS signal when they hit the surface some also broadcast a distress call and have strobe lighting that stands out, particularly at night. These are incredibly cheap and reliable safety equipment...that should be onboard!

Billionaires probably know other billionaires. I’d imagine someone has pulled some strings, maybe that’s a cynical viewpoint though. I remember when Emiliano Sala’s plane crashed it wasn’t until a private search (part funded by Lionel Messi) that they were able to find him on the sea bed.
