Times: Wayne Rooney - Man Utd lack character, heart and emotion

Tell me you want to be United manager , without really telling me. He is correct though.

First one to break ranks. Think it creates less pressure on playing those players too. Absolutely Ronaldo should not be starting that game. We need to play as a team. Rashford/Elanga is more tricky.

Guys got issues with Ronaldo. Just accept he was levels above you despite the hype you received and move on.

How does this help us right now ? Seriously, all of our ex players needs to feck off. It's just putting more pressure on ETH.

Yeah, I get that it's just an interview and he is stating his opinion. But I am only thinking about the pool game now.

Wayne is 100% correct. And I don't need Rooney to see that Ronaldo has destroyed any chemistry we've had in preseason. And Rashford is really not the same player he was 2 years ago.

He's allowed to voice his opinion, just like you and everyone else.

ETH lost the 1st 2 matches-- his tactics haven't been great-- I don't think Rooney's opinion is putting more pressure on ETH. ETH has already done a great job of putting himself under pressure. mm ba ba beh.

We were not playing well in preseason at all. Now our opponents are pressing us and are defending half decently we can see just how bad we are.

The feck are you on about?
He is 100% correct. Ronnie is not playing for this coach and Rashford looks like he needs a therapist.

He is right to some extent in that emotion, aggression and the crowd play big parts in these games. I can't ever forget that game at Anfield last season where the players just wanted to get off the pitch as soon as they walked out on it. It was the most spineless performance you could ever imagine at a time when Liverpool were going for a quadruple. Rashford and Ronaldo didn't start then btw.

I'm positive the game on Monday will be different and we'll see some energy at least. Not very confident about a win, but i think we'll see a better performance.

I thought he was exemplary during the time they were teammates. Always sacrificed himself for the team, while Ronnie was allowed to do his magic. The way he dealt with the aftermath of the Euros was top class too.

It is pretty clear that Ronaldo does not fit a team that is not moulded around him, which is not what ETH does, and his entourage has been shopping him around all summer and he's a moody cnut now. We need him gone.

Ronaldo 100% should be dropped against Liverpool. He’ll be stood 30 yards away from everyone and can’t chase a quick ball over the top. He was useless in these types of games last year, when he was invested. It will only be worse now.

As for Rashford, at least he has pace for that ball over the top which is our only hope. He’s almost shit at everything else right now though. Not sure who we would replace him with

Rooney is talking sense but these are pretty easy problems to identify except for the imbeciles actually running Manchester United apparently. Rashford is a joke and needs replacing with a more dynamic attacker ASAP.

Last summer he said we're going to win the league. Not disagreeing with him, but it's easy to find flaws now in hindsight.

The article is hard on the team but it is fair. But one area where Wayne is way off is this idea that Manchester United can jettison all the non-fits and go with youth. This is United. They have to win while they rebuild. They have to score.

Another thing he does is criticizes the window approach without considering the elephant in the room which is the owners. When your owners are this bad and your new manager is coming in with his credentials it is clear why things are disjointed. And this is where we all know the owners need to go, enough already.

But one thing that is being overlooked is that their transfer window might yet be a positive. They might get enough pieces to jumpstart the team to where they are a group to be proud of. Right now in the media they're having a grand time shitting on everything the team has done but not all the moves have been laughable and there is still a week to go. And if the window ends well it will be because the owners got their arms twisted by the combination of a coach whose credentials mean they can't fire him yet plus fans applying enormous pressure to them.

He's right but didn't he himself lack character, heart and emotion when he was captain during the LVG/Mourinho days.

No. He was one of those that burnt out early due to fitness and body type but he never lacked character, heart or emotion.

Give me a break. It's probably best to sell Ronaldo but you really think we were playing well preseason?

Why do people create threads for basically absolutely nothing stories?

Better for us than Ronaldo was which is all that matters around these parts. Ronaldo can cry tweet about it like he did last time.

No, no, I'm not saying we were playing well in preseason before Ronaldo. I'm saying that it looked like we've had some chemistry. There was some spark (not that McFred can spark at all). Once CR7 was back everything went haywire.

The first game he didn't play. We were 2-0 in half time. Explain?

His body abandoned him near the end after a long career that started younger than most but one thing Rooney never lacked was character, heart and emotion. He embodied a lot about what it meant to be a Manchester United player for me.

Current players need to look at him picking up Rio in the morning. That shows a lot of heart and emotion.

I hate when pundits talk about character, heart and emotion. They're such vague qualities that are impossible to quantify.

It's not about him playing or not. It's about being in the same room. Sharing the same table. I'm big believer in team chemistry. Once he was back (right before Atleti game) it all went haywire. Again, this is only my opinion and I'm only guessing. Can I be wrong? Absolutely!

When he was still playing Rashford used to be that player with energy and work rate. But he's right, the current one looks depressed.

Preseason has always been the worst way to judge players form or chemistry. Its not really hard to see why: non-competitive nature, zero stress environment, whole squad of unfit players trying to regain fitness, and trying to avoid injuries, random minutes for everyone including fringe/reserve players etc.
