Television Tiger King (Netflix Documentary)

Why is Jeff Lowe's girl still with him? Why are Doc Antle's women still with him?
It's pretty clear they're highly manipulative individuals with wealth who use this to prey on less secure victims. Happens all the time, insecure folks yearn for security, if they find it with a rich person who happens to a creep, hey, at least they're secure right?

These documentaries often behave a lot like Facebook/Instagram, people will show you what they want you to show to make it look like they have a perfect life. You saw Doc Antle essentially directing the guys when he came to his house, right?

But we are making the assumption that the women are vulnerable and insecure. Perhaps Doc Antle's women, yeah. But Jeff Lowe's girl seems like she really wants to be with Jeff.

I agree with Classical Mechanic, these two are thick as thieves. Also, she gets a lifestyle she loves and can feck about with other guys.

I think those two are partners in crime. They love big cats and running scams. A meeting of minds.

I'm thinking this. Didn't the documentary basically point out that Jeff Lowe wasn't as rich as he was pretending, and that it was a front to help con people. Lauren just comes across as being in on it and happy that she can play with some tigers.

What a crazy show, pretty similar to Wild wild west! Every major character in this show should be behind bars except Reinke, Saff, John Finlay, Kirkham and maybe Cowie.

Definitely happens, but the power/status that comes with money is also attractive to some. It also tends to bring popularity or at least the pretence of it, and social standing also usually makes some people want to know that person. Pretty sure weird cult leaders use exactly this in a sly way, but I don't think it's always sly necessarily.

Finished it and been reading about all concerned . Great show but like Making a Murderer the makers clearly pushed their own agends a lot of times . Not quite as much but still more than a bit biased .

Strange the thing most bothering me now though is he never actually did the singing on his songs

Plus he had the 'pick up high school chicks after class on his motorbike' look perfected. Who wouldn't want a playa like that?

Can't help but think the doc did Carol a bit dirty.

The worst thing she's 100% guilty of is what? Keeping her animals in cages and being a bit of a hypocrite? Nothing in comparison to the other raving loons... I don't think she killed her ex, probably fecked around with his Will after the fact, but the doc was very much portraying everything in that episode as doubtful /dodgy.

Yes that's the worse about these shows . People take everything as gospel when the show makers are just pushing their agenda .

All these people now thinking Carole killed her husband and Joe was just a loveable schmuck who got set up

And if her parks are nicer and better for the tigers she isn’t even that much of a hypocrite is she?

Where can they take the tigers that are in captivity too? Can’t be released into the wild.

I wouldn't call that episode released yesterday as an actual episode. More just some random guy asking some follow up questions about life now for some of the people shown in the show. Nothing new, or really entertaining in it

I can't really see any sensible people thinking Joe innocent, everyone in that show looked dodgy though. That stuff with Carole and the will is iffy whether or not she killed him.

This. They all looked nefarious in some way or form.

I really hope Jeff Lowe gets his comeuppance. After all sneaky plots, he was smirking and bragging about picking his nanny, it's clear that he sees women as sex things for his personal amusement. Even the Doc Antle guy did come off as dislikable as him.

Gave up after 3 episodes - just wasn't arsed about any of the people, regardless of how crazy they all were. Think I'll just read about it, rather than watching the show.

The “new episode” is a bit shit, just a bunch of tame Q&A sessions with a few people from the show and Jeff Winger making some cringy jokes.

The only thing I learned was the zoo worker who lost an arm actually identifies as male yet was referred to as a female throughout the documentary.

The show just gets crazier and crazier.

Yeah pointless episode. Didn’t learn an awful lot. Joe being deathly afraid of big cats I guess was new

It really does speak to what a lunatic Joe was when everyone was so happy to be working under Jeff. If Jeff is the sane, sensible one then holy crap.

Rewatched Louis Theroux's documentary on exotic pets and Joe Exotic and at one ooint they are talking and Louis mentions Joe used to be a cop .

How was that not bought up in Tiger King ?

It was.

I missed that in the documentary as well

Yeah there's nothing 'that' weird about that pair in my eyes. She didn't come across as someone who'd been taken advantage of - she came across as a gold-digging, younger bird who likes being around rich old men. She gets the lavish lifestyle, as much drugs as she wants and she doesn't have to be particularly faithful to the bloke either as long as he's in the same room. Well, not with other men it seems but still.

I certainly dont remember it. But then again, given how many 'revelations' were just blasted at us, dont blame you (or me, ha) for not remembering it as it would be one of the least sticking points to come from this show.

this is fake but it made me laugh

Watching the second episode, nearly gave up after the first. It's so boring, don't understand why it's had so much hype.

This.

Ex
All the key protagonists were narcissists and/or sociopaths but Doc Antle was the king. The world he’d created for himself where he was king of the beasts with his harem of silicone enhanced women working on slave wages was pretty remarkable.
There was pretty much a whole episode on him but because it was early on, it sort of seemed secondary - but what he's doing is massively fecked up.

That dude Jeff Lowe was also despicable.

Well, they all are in fairness.

It was a decent documentary, once you're past episodes 1 and 2, they're so dull.

I’m not sure I trust Rick Kirkham there. I think he’s enjoying his time in the spotlight & saying whatever he thinks is controversial or newsworthy
