Do. Not. Want.
Verm is quite shit like most of Wenger's CB's over the years.

Would be a nice signing. I just feel like Van Gaal has that ability to get the best out of players, like most great managers, and Vermaelen is good at his best.
If Chambers can play basically anywhere across the back four then surely he's exactly the player we should be after?Expecting this to happen now that Chambers has been signed. Chambers can also play at center back and according to U19 coaches, that's where he'll end up soon.

Buy an experienced centre back to be a starter and Chambers as back up for the three defensive spots and we'd be set.The last thing we need is more kids in the back four, we need experience.

Apparently, Arsenal's french players are back in training but Vermaelen is absent..
In related news, some sources on Twitter are saying Arsenal have asked for a Player+Cash swap deal for Phil Jones
What about Jevans???He'd be perfect for the left side of the back three. Him, or Vertonghen would be ideal there, although I don't think Vertonghen is anywhere near as available.

Ah, I always thought he preferred the left cos I recall him playing at left back on occasion. He's right footed, and prefers playing on the right.

I'd play Evans in the middle though as he's very comfortable with his left too.

Nope, both are midtable CBs, Vermaelen shading it.Vertonghen is better on the ball by a distance (hence being a good leftback) but also has his dodgy moments at CB. Still miles better than Vermaelen

Vermaelen was much better defensively than Vertonghen, when he actually played regularly.
The Arsenal fans I speak with reguarly think he's actually pretty talented, just repeat hes been injured lately and off form, they actually want to keep him, obviously a small sample size view but speaking with them I hope we can bring him in, if LvG likes him thats good enough for a mere mortal like myself.
Injured again, apparently.
Surely the only logical reason for pursuing a player with this many question marks surrounding him would be the relatively low fee? Beyond that it really makes no sense to me as his inability to stay fit will surely hinder any chance he has of regaining past form.
He's more injury prone than Rafael. We need to stay away...
Agreed. I'll back van Gaal to the hills, but not on this one.
this is one of his first decisions so no you wouldnt would you.....Ashley Young being a first teamer next season...bet thats not one to follow him to the hills on either.
Did i say that?. Anyone who proves themselves under van Gaal's tutelage deserves a First team slot, regardless of names. I just don't want to sign a crock, because of late, that's all he's proved to be.
