Thomas Tuchel | Gone to & from Bayern (In Summer)

Kind of feel they need to play De Ligt more - Kim and Upa are great but neither is that amazing on the ball, so everything last night fell on Kimmich and Lazio pressed him with multiple players all game from what I could see.

That said Musiala should have scored and that fee kick was mighty close. Plus some other chances. Don’t think it’s as bad as people make out.
 
They need to bring in a proper manager with international experience and a 360 vision, or at least a 180 one, I think Roy Hodgson would be great there.

Hoeneß has become old and complacent. And no matter his official title, he’s still the clubs boss. And as long as we fail to emancipate ourselves from him, this whole shitshow will continue. We’re basically controlled by an old egomaniac who lacks understanding of modern football.

How was it a defensive masterclass if they allowed 23 shots? And that was without Xhaka, Grimaldo and Boniface.

I'm still afraid to get my hopes up for a first Bundesliga win but if Bayern actually do bring in Mourinho, I instantly believe we'll defend the league title next season :nervous:

Bayern's struggles are a bit overblown. They easily topped their CL group, and are on course for their best points tally since their treble-winning season. The only really big fiasco was probably the cup exit.

It's not been perfect, but Tuchel's not been a disaster at all

Seems like it's not working out but I still rate him. Evidently lacks something in terms of personality/charisma and adaptability compared to the likes of Klopp or Baldy, but there's few better managers around

Looking from the outside that's the impression I've got over the last few years with the same people in key positions for a long time.
 
Bayern and Chelsea should just swap managers at this point. I’d take Tuchel back in a heartbeat.

I hear you but Poch is contractually obligated to have Tuchel’s sloppy seconds, so unfortunately if you sack Tuchel, Poch is the guy you’re getting.

We want to watch the drama from afar. He'd get right into the mind games from the get go if he got the Bayern job. It'd be a disaster mid-long term but you never know with Mou short term.

Imagine the scenes and the aftermath with the leaks in the press, if this had happened here. On the other hand, if you treat the quote as fact, he'd make the perfect candidate to replace ETH according to some on here and their views on what a manager's job should be.

I think he is but, personally, i never rated him very high, so i am not the most unbiased of judges. He has always been set in his ways, but the CL with Chelsea has made him walk with a swagger that feels both artificial and undeserved. At least, peak Mourinho was a fantastic villain figure in football. You were never a good match for each other, partly because of his ceiling as a manager and partly because you are not as good as (some of) you think you are. His character is just expediting the inevitable.

Same goes for Tuchel and Klopp. First Mainz then Dortmund.

The timing of Tuchels bayern meltdown and Klopps announcement is perfect.

Jose is thought of as many as one of the greatest man managers of all time?

The message I assume is a loud and clear kick up the arse to the players no? It might work, it might not. We’ll see second leg if they come out with intent and stuff Lazio.

As long as they're not doing it to cover up their own failings, i guess it's OK. Since most top managers nowadays primarily coach systems and football, at the highest level, is becoming more and more about micro-analysing the fine details, i believe that it's the job of the board to make the right appointment and, from there, it's about the squad adjusting to the plan and not vice versa (i'm not talking in absolutes, but you get the main idea). So, yeah, a manager needs to be direct and honest with his players and swift in his decisions. Decisions that have to be made early on. Otherwise, you get a situation like ETH's at United. A system manager working with a squad that knows they can resist change and be OK with it, which leads to the (system) manager making the adjustments. What you get is a team that's among the best at forcing high turnovers, while simultaneously it has one of the deepest defensive lines in the league. Having said that, if Tuchel (a product of the young generation of German system managers) either can't or isn't willing to change anything, how does such a quote help in any way at this point in the season? The least he can hope for is that good team spirit can help them get the most out of their season. If he said that quote, it reads like an admission of failure in the worst way possible: By throwing his team under the bus.

I mean these managers didn't directly follow each other. Potter was in between Tuchel and Poch and there was another bloke in between Tuchel and Klopp at Mainz. So no thanks to Galtier. I'll take Klopp, thanks ;)

Disagree. Our problems are mostly intern and come down to a dysfunctional leadership headed by Hoeneß.
