Thomas Tuchel | Gone to & from Bayern (In Summer)

yes there is, they can refuse to discuss anything with Chelsea. In this case Potter will be jeopardising his relation with the club and the fans of Brighton.
That's not how a buyout clause works.

Chelsea fans were in love with Tuchel when he joined. Its like they were desperate for a manager they could identify with over a decent amount of time instead of the hiring and firing that went on before. We were getting articles about how fun and quirky training was, how great Tuchel was tactically, how he has been the 1 shining light through the shit storm of the last 6 months or so.

So has Chelsea fans opinion on him changed?

About 0.0% chance they fire the coach who brought them back into the top 4 and won them the championship league, 6 weeks into the new season after spending a gazillion pounds on players, who haven't even all started a single game yet

Tuchel's germanic straight talking and American bosses love of having smoke blown up their ass....this was bound to happen - January move for Ronaldo incoming!

Forgot abt that. Can't we mutually terminate the contract and let him go to Chelsea. Although we may miss him as a squad member.

Wrong timing for us in getting rid of Ronaldo

Really? I mean, you might not like him which is fair enough, but the criticism of him being overopinionated seems odd. He's got the largest platform of any pundit in the country so his word likely gets around the most, but I've never thought of him (or any pundit in general, really) as being overopinionated.

He wades in on just about everything. I remember during the early days of the lockdown there was a Sky interview with Klopp where they asked him what he has learned so far and his answer was ‘I have learned that Gary Neville has an opinion on just about everything’. He wants to run British football, he wants to run British politics and is always over the top IMO of his assessments. Far less level-headed than Carragher.

If I were Potter I wouldn't go to Chelsea. He likely has a better set up around him at the club at Brighton. Maybe bide his time for Spurs? We all know Conte is leaving soon enough

I like Neville a lot but him chiming in on manager sackings when the club he owns has had 6 different managers in 7 years is a bit rich.

Would not surprise me, if Tuchel saying no to Ronaldo is at the root of this.

I know you're talking about Nev's conduct in general, but his comment today was literally a sardonic two word tweet. I really don't get the idea that he wants to run British politics - he's left-leaning so I like the fact that he uses his platform to hold the Tories to account, but it's not something I've noticed him do often enough to be criticised for. But I know there are plenty of people who he rubs up the wrong way, so fair enough if he's not your cuppa.

Thank feck Ralf didnt do well enough to be given the job full time. If he did Chelsea would 100% go for Ten Hag right now.

I think ETH would turn them down at this point in the season if he was still with Ajax and I doubt they would go a full season wit ha caretaker.

I think both would actually do well. People on this board were calling for Poch daily not so long back, so lets not pretend he is suddenly a poor coach, because he got sacked by PSG.

Well I never rated him so this doesn't apply to me. Hope they get Poch. It's 20/21 PSG all over again. Sack Tuchel, bring in Poch (who lost the league by 1 point) and then sack him a year later because they weren't any closer to winning CL with Poch as they were with Tuchel who actually won it the year Poch bottle'd a farmer's league

And it makes no sense comparing Boehly to Woodward when the latter showed far more patience with each of our last 4 managers.

I’d be amazed if they got Zidane. Not connection to the club and has never played or managed in the Premier League. It’s gotta be between Poch or Potter.

Yeh, I also don't get the Tweet as Ed Woodward was famously criticised for not sacking managers fast enough. I suppose he could argue he isn't the de facto decision-maker at Salford FC so it isn't just him calling the shots when it comes to sacking managers?

Wow. So if Potter has a £16M buy out and does join, that change of management would cost £30M!
They wanted to spend more money but the window slammed shut. So this is how they are gonna do it.

18 hours later…

Everyone frightened about them getting Potter but this is a different level altogether. I don’t see a Potter appointment much different to us hiring David Moyes. No guarantee of success at all.
I am not sure anyone is frightened of them appointing Potter. I mean they have an amazing squad already. I agree though it is a major risk on Chelsea's part to hire him as he really has not had that much experience, and certainly none at the elite level. I think they will look for someone who in their thinking has "pedigree" such as Zidane etc.

Indeed, I have no particular issue with his tweet today.

These Chelsea games really don't hold back don't they? One bad season and the manager is sacked regardless of whatever shit he did. Wish we are that ruthless with our managers in general. They know they spent a lot of money and what's presented on the pitch isn't good enough. Meanwhile we give our managers 2 or 3 years winning feck all before starting to think about sacking them.

Unless Tuchel pissed in the owners coffee or had a major fallout with the dressing room, this is an insane move by the club. Hes a good manager and the PL is ridiculously competetive these days. If Bohely thinks Potter or Poch are going to take on Pep and Klopp just like that they are in for a rude awakening

Crazy decision. I don't know what but I had this feeling early in the summer that they would be the crisis club. Crazy how pivotol Tuchel was in the transfer window only to be sacked days after it ends.

This is why Chelsea will always be a joke of a club. Short termism runs from top to bottom.
They’ve won 5 PL titles, 5 FA cups, 3 league cups and the Champions League twice in 18 years, I’d say whatever they’ve been doing been working.

How many trophies have we won by giving Moyes, Jose, Van Gaal and Ole buttloads of money to spend and time to waste?
