Thomas Strakosha

We're targeting a player who isn't from Ajax or Dutch :eek:

I never heard of him but before clicking on this thread his name sounded like he would be a GK.

He is.

Was Lazio’s first choice for a long while. Sounds good, why not?

Can he pass well? Otherwise I have backup goalie fatigue at this point.

Not sure where he's been the last few years. Looks like he was injured or Reina was just preferred to him? He was highly rated as an allrounder when he was younger and I liked him then. If he still got it, I think he could challenge De Gea.

We absolutely love signing backup keepers

It's so strange. Committing 10s of thousands a week to a player who basically never plays cos DeGea's fit 90% of the time.

This will be our second signing and, in both cases, you can argue we've strengthened positions that were not priorities.

Heaton is very old and barely played since his big injury.

Could be interesting, however backup GK is way down the list of priorities this window. Think I would probably put it about number 7/8.

Third choice goalkeeper is there for training as much as anything as there are various ways of organising things where having the extra GK is useful. i.e. allowing you to divide/work sessions differently or allowing your main goalkeepers to work on other things while your third is the one getting shot at by outfield players as part of their drills. Even if Heaton was good enough to be our second choice goalkeeper, they may still want more than that involved to make training organisation easier.

the more time passes the more it looks as if Heaton was brought in as yet another job for the boys.

Still want Kante in a swap deal, yes I am aware how huge our need for a striker is
Kante should be way down the list. Injuries are majorly starting to take hold and he’d probably need replacing in the next 12-18 month while on big wages. It just doesn’t make much sense at all, as good as he was he just isn’t that player any more.

He wouldn't demand big wages and when the time comes replace with Rice/Bellingham

Genuinely shocked he's on that much
There’s this really condescending narrative around him that fuels this thinking, but he’s a professional with professional interest and an agent looking out for those interests. He knows his worth and will get it, he’s not just playing for the love of the game.

I've watched him a lot over the years. He is great with the ball.

problem is, everything else is lacking. He'll be nice to have in possession, but he's a pretty lightweight gk.
