At the quoted price, we have to sign him. He'll be a low risk, quality signing at DM badly needed imo.

Doubt Arsenal can afford Partey unless they involve Torreira or sell him for 30-35M (Juve? Inter?).
Rather Partey than Grealish, in my opinion.

I’ll be miffed if he goes to Arsenal and we don’t sign a DM. However I will give Ole the rest of the season to convince me one isn’t needed.
We really need a player like him imo. With Partey we can accomodate any midfield combination.
He is a very good player and would be a fantastic pick up for whoever signs him. But there's a few very good ball winning players with good distribution we could potentially sign if Ole decides to go that route.

They were very close to signing him last summer, IIRC. It seems they’ve put all the legwork in and maybe other clubs are probably thinking it’s too late to bother.
There is obviously something about this guy's game that Utd really don't like, otherwise I am sure we would be in for him and phase him in to replace Matic over the next year.

Maybe Ole wants to get another year out of Matic and then move for Ndidi. He’s 4 years younger than Partey, PL proven and would be perfect to sit behind Bruno and Pogba. I would be happy if we signed Partey this summer but I don’t think it’s urgent (depending who we move on after the season ends).
Well if that was the plan for next summer then I would be happy to go with what we have there for the time being.
My gut feeling is that Leicester will price us out of a move for him even more than they tried with Maguire.
I get the feeling he thinks Mctominay can play this role or Fred. If playing Pogba and Bruno in midfield in these last 9 games prove to be difficult it should force the club to go after a DM
Partey isn’t a DM. He’s an all round 8 who can defend a bit. Atl midfield has no specialist DM, the defensive responsibility is shared between the CMS who are all very well rounded. If we’re looking for a specialist DM, he’s not our guy, even thougg he can play there to quite a good level.

I think if we plan to keep Pogba we won’t be in for him, & not because they play the same position either.
The midfield that’s helped turn our season around has been Matic, Fred, Fernandes... & Scott was one of our better performers in the earlier part of the season.
If we assume Pogba is performing well enough in training to start, then it’s likely at #8, which is harsh on Fred. We won’t have Fred’s energy when we lose the ball - something that was key to Fernandes getting the ball in dangerous positions.
Scott then probably finds himself as the 3rd choice #8. I foresee Matic, Carrick, and the rest of the coaching staff working with him on playing #6.
I think we put such an emphasis on character in our rebuild that there will always be a place for Scott. Not to suggest there’s anything wrong with Partey, but if we can get Scott to develop there I think that would be our preference.

Stop spouting shit that you have no confirmation of at all. Ole and Woody have frequently mentioned that we are fine financially and should be able to make moves this transfer window. There's nothing wrong with people speculating about transfers, that's literally all there is to do right now.

Exactly what Arsenal need. If he keeps injury free, he will have a good impact for them. They have to invest further this summer, but it would be a good start/piece of business for them.
Why would we let him go Arsenal when we need a proper CDM? He would be perfect to play behind Pogba and Bruno.

He is not as gifted as someone like Carrick but he is a solid footballer and brings other things to the table. He would enable 2 very capable creators in front of him the freedom to build the attack.

Ole has always used Pogba deep, not as a #10. Grealish isnt competition for Pogba.
Grealish can play RW, LW and #10. Grealish offers squad depth and quality across the forward positions.
Partey would be competition for Pogba.
We have 3 midfield spaces, 2 of which are deep and one forward. We currently have:
Fred/Matic/McTom/Pogba for the deeper roles
Bruno/Mata/Lingard/Periera for the forward midfield roles.
Matic/Mata can be fazed out.
Periera and Lingard are back ups only and replaceable.
I dont think Partey is a sensible signing if we keep Pogba and plan to use him as a deep midfielder. He's arguably the better DM, but unless Pogba is 100% leaving Partey would have Fred/McTom & Pogba to compete with for 2 spaces. I'm all for quality squad depth as we've lacked that for years but i can't see it.
Grealish would get more game time for me as we are weaker across the forward midfield area. If we utilise Pogba as a #10 then we'd be choosing between him and Bruno and neither would settle for a spot on the bench.
Personally, i'd sell Pogba and sign Grealish and a DM (whether its Partey or someone like a Kelvin Phillips) but if Pogba stays we dont need a DM and will focus elsewhere.
The Partey fan brigade seem hell bent on him, but we have more credible links to Bellingham. If we sign Bellingham, there's no chance we sign another CM/DM.
Summer aim for me is:
Sancho
Grealish
Bellingham
Try to offload others like:
Lingard/Smalling/Sanchez/Rojo
Partey isn't a great signing for me at this point
But then the opposition has an easy press on our DM which forces Pogba etc deeper to get the ball. Away to City a lot of our counters came from Fred and Scott carrying the ball forward allowing our attacking players to run into the space City players left behind them.
A limited DM would slow that down or be ripe for the tactical foul. It changes everything.
The opposition can double their efforts on Pogba and Bruno and allow Partey to have the ball since he can do little damage with it ala PSG at home last year.

Grealish is not a RW option. His only time at RW came for Notts County 6 years ago with 7 appearances. Not sure that’s enough evidence of proficiency.
He does however offer depth for LW/LAM.
I understand the desire for Partey more because he could occupy a starting XI spot whereas even if Pogba left I don’t see how Grealish fits into the starting XI nicely.
Away at City we hardly see much of the ball imo and Partey would not be a problem, more of a big advantage. However in matches where we dominate I can understand the importance of having a better footballer there. On the other hand Parthey would bring a defensive stability that we lack when Fred plays there, he is very easily bypassed and we are vulnerable.
