According to tomorrows Kicker he told the Bayern Munich board that he is unhappy and LvG wants to bring him in

He has started 7th most games in Bayern, played a part of 29 games in total(League/CL) so far which is as much as Manuel Neuer. Only Mandzukic has played that many game in the CL/League as well in entire Bayern.

It just seems very odd that Muller would be unsatisfied for real with intent to leave. Is he in contract negotiations?

Why would he be unhappy? He gets plenty of games doesn't he?

I'd love him here, tbh, but it ain't happening.

?!?!?!?!?!

I don't pretend to be rational about Muller: I truly hate him. Firstly, as a guy - arrogant, sulky, incredibly aggressive with referees, dives and accuses others of diving constantly. Secondly, as a footballer. Incredibly unappealing style of football, contributes massively in terms of the stats but so rarely entertains in any way on the pitch.

Plus his two positions are the ones we least need reinforcement in.

Fortunately there's no particular reason to think this is any less rumour and bullshit than all the other people we're linked with 24/7.

He's one of the worst Bayern players when it comes to arguing with the ref and diving. Sorry, do not want. Plus we're stacked in his position.

Absolutely brilliant footballer, would be delighted to sign him if we had room...

If Kicker is really reporting such thing, then it's hughly unlikely that it's bullshit or just a rumour.

Not out yet on their website then I presume?

No, checked several german forums and seems legit. I can't even describe how much I don't want him. Brightonians post x 1000. Rubbish as a footballer too, but great at positioning

I have been told exactly that many, many times on this forum, and I think it's actually turned out to be correct once (Kagawa, to be specific). Kicker's reputation for reliability is incredibly overinflated.

oh, I was under the impression that they're pretty spot on on almost every occasion. Hope you're right, I don't want him either.

Plays right wing for Germany

Ok, so another winger who's not actually a winger, then. We have bucket-loads of those too.

Because there's no two ways about it, he's not one. He's a winger in the same sense that Welbeck's a winger. Except that Welbeck's not a terrible human being.

Muller can pretty much play as a No.10 or on either wing, no? Which is pretty much the same as Reus, who we've also been linked with (though obviously they're very different players). So maybe it's not that much of a stretch to think we'd be interested...?

Have to say, I'm surprised at the lack of enthusiasm here. He's a very irritating player but also a pretty brilliant one. Would be a very big signing for us, no?

He's a very good player but too slow. We currently lack pace, so adding Muller only makes it worse.

Yay, another player using the name of Manchester united to upgrade his current contract. What? Is he the 6th top player to do that this season?

I'd say his best position is as a second striker. United are one of the only top teams that play with a second striker these days more often then not.

He's still more a winger than he is a number 10 though. His crossing is excellent, can beat a man, very efficient and a workhorse. Mind-boggling that you wouldn't want him in if he became available.

It's really not.

I do not have to want us to buy every good player who is available. I definitely don't have to want us to buy a player whose best position is our strongest, whose second best position is our second strongest, and whose makeshift position is our third strongest. And I definitely definitely don't have to want us to buy a player who is a total cnut on the pitch and incredibly dull to watch.

If you want a winger, spend as much as Muller would cost and buy someone like Reus. More suited to the position, more effective there, and waaay more entertaining to watch. If you want a #10 or a striker, then you're a bit mad because we've got plenty of quality people in those positions already.

EDIT: Plus it seems like others agree with me. I've very rarely seen a transfer muppet thread on the caf where such a high percentage of posters are saying that they don't want the player in question.

I've read some bollocks about Bayern Munich since the other night, but this is the winner. Well in buddy.

I love how we are great enough to turn our noses up at players such as Muller. This place really is amazing at times.
Why is it so surprising? We're stacked with players who play in his position. Did you say the same thing in the Cavani thread then?

And if no other top player becomes available? I'm pretty certain that a winger of his quality will not be involved in a transfer in the Summer.

A winger definitely isn't highest on our priorities, but it's definitely a position where we're lacking in quality, both in talent but more importantly in output. Muller will bring in good numbers on the wing. Entertaining to watch? Our first choice right-winger is Antonio Valencia. I don't want to get too carried away yet, let's see if this story goes anywhere first.

Thing is, if the rumours about us being interested in Reus are true then we are looking for someone in that position, no? Or at least in one of the many positions Muller could play. So, if we accept that we are indeed looking for a right sided attacker then why wouldn't Muller be an excellent option, even as a fall back if we can't get Reus? He would bring a very different dimension to what we already have.

Muller instead of Valencia certainly works in my head...

You do know where he has mainly played most of his career right....
Right winger or behind the striker. What's your point? My point about Cavani was that people don't want him here despite him being a good player. It's not turning our noses up at good players.

It doesn't matter where he plays, he isn't the type of player we need.

We don't really know what we need at this stage though, it'll be largely determined by the new managers plans. The two positions I'd agree we're fine in is striker and goalkeeper but beyond that who knows. Similar to how Mourinho came in and signed about 3 wide players and got rid of Mata and Guardiola added to Bayern's plethora of midfield talent with Thiago. Views may also change drastically if the likes of Young and Nani get shown the door.

Not that I think we have any realistic chance of prizing Muller away from Bayern.

LVG really rates Muller anyway, doesn't he? He's the guy who promoted Muller to the first team. I'd imagine he would at least be interested if Muller did become available.

How can any manager fit Rooney, RVP, Mata, Januzaj, Welbeck, Valencia, Young, Nani and few other plus Muller into one team? We would have to sell two or 3 players.
