Is there any chance of WWE trying another "invasion" style angle with NXT vs WWE? The roster seems to have enough talent that it could work and also allow NXT stars on Raw and vice versa

Would be the worst thing. Given how WWE treat most of the NXT called up talents, imagine putting NXT as a group against the ones Vince actually likes? eeeh

Would thoroughly enjoy Big Show and Cena destroying all the indie legends. It'd be hilarious.

16 years ago today this match happened. Honestly, it is not my favourite match ever, it would easily make my top 10, but there is something about this match that's important to me and that's the fact that this was the match that made me fall in love with wrestling. I remember watching it a few days after it happened as an 11 year old and just being amazed by it and it is "the" match for me that made me a real wrestling fan. Still holds up today.

Damn, feel like an old fecker now. Foley really did help legitimize HHH as main event caliber badass tbh. 2000 was my fav HHH year with his run with Foley and then The Rock. (I think Angle as well towards the end of the year as well).

Triple H was awesome all the way to his injury in 01 but yeah, that match and HIAC with Foley really made him.

Yep, I can't remember ever hating a heel more than early 2000 HHH. I remember 12 year old me muttering all manner of obscenities at the TV screen when he retired Foley in the HIAC match at No Way Out.

That's why I think he will win tonight, I know I'm in the minority but I don't mind that idea. He can draw heat no one else in WWE. Wouldn't surprise me if they bought Bryan in just so HHH can eliminate him, imagine the boos.

I'm with you on it.

I'd be happy with either HHH or Wyatt.

Yeah, Trips takes a lot of bullshit from the IWC folks but he is clearly a great. His feuds with Rock especially when Stone Cold was sidelined for a year kept them going for a while.

The end of the feud was amazing with Stone Cold destroying the bus and then the return at Backlash.

Yep he does not get the credit he deserves. Same with NXT, the IWC just want to hate the guy. He's the reason the IWC get what they want in NXT and all these indie guys coming in.

Yeah then his 2003 run or whenever, was just terrible.

Why do people on forums use the term IWC to talk down on them when they are pretty much part of it?

The Authority is not a hated heel anymore. They've just annoying irritants and should be taken off screen. Steph's screaming especially has been quite grating every time she makes an appearance. Roman, Wyatt, Shaemus and Lesnar is quite a gathering of talent and they should be able to handle the main event without HHH coming back again.

Speaking for myself, I post occasionally in a thread that is in a general entertainment sub-forum of a football forum. I'm not exactly on any wrestling forums or reading dirt-sheets daily.

He was horrific in 03. Overweight as hell, think he said as much himself on his DVD that came out a few years back.

Either way, would be happy watching Triple H matches for hours, he's ad more than enough brilliant matches.

I think Triple H as a wrestler has got a lot of stick due to the creative decisions over the last few years regarding his character. There is a lot of times over the last few years where it hasn't made sense of Triple H to go over... Punk, Lesnar, Sting etc etc. I think most people are rolling their eyes now is because it's rumoured he's going to pick up the title at the Rumble, when 1) He's not been in the ring since Wrestlemania and 2) He doesn't need to have the title to make any match he has at Wrestlemania interesting.

Give the title to someone else... Then you've got three really big matches. Triple H vs Reigns, Brock vs whoever then you're WHC championship match.

I think his Authority character gets a lot of stick, because The Authority is a tired angle, and they are inconsistent with how act. One minute they are heels, then they try to be faces, then there was a period at the end of the Rollins reign where they were tweeners... Now they've gone full heel again. Personally i think 75% of it is Steph, but just retire The Authority already.

Continuing with HHH love in theme here, I'd like to state that Triple H imo is best storyteller in terms of matches in the 'E over the last decade or so. (HBK had better matches though)

He's moves are purposeful, methodical almost. They are never spot fests. I quite enjoy that.

Keep Sheamus away from the main event. He's a good upper midcarder, but simply doesnt connect with the fans.

Any idea roughly what time the actual rumble will kick off tonight? Might wake up for it.

It's guarenteed to be the main event. So i'd say set your alarm for about 2:30 and you'll not go too far wrong..

Stephen Amell should come out, enter the rumble and throw out Stardust. Seriously.

That would be great!

Gonna try to stay up for this tonight, show kicks off at 2 local time for me. Have tomorrow off anyways, let's see. Anyone else staying up?
Yeah, I'm off tomorrow so got my mate round for a few beers and watch it. Looking forward to it. the rumble's usually fun.

I've watched like one show since Summerslam, I have to be up at 7 tomorrow for work, and I'm still tempted because it's the Rumble.

Anywhere I would be able to watch this tomorrow morning? Don't really want to stay up but would like to see the rumble match before spoilers

At the risk of being frowned upon, sign up to the network, then cancel it straight away. You will get the month for free and can watch it at anytime with a really good quality.

Yep, got tomorrow morning off so will watch it only cos its the Rumble.

Was looking at a few things before, no real odds appeal to me though.

Can't understand all this HHH hate, the man is a legend, really. Great wrestler, a true cnut of a heel but hilarious too. He's had some quality matches and fueds with people like Foley/The Rock/The Undertaker/Lesnar/Stone Cold and Randy Orton. When Orton went round to Trips house and threw him through the window was WWE gold! Priceless. Also his work with DX was some of the best comedy WWE ever produced. Yet Trips gets loads of stick and embarrassing pissed up old farts like Rick feckin Flair still get adored everywhere he goes. Wooooooo! FFS!

Literally one of the worst things ever. Apart from that I agree with everything you said.

Avoiding most of the places online as don't want to run into any potential spoilers, although in all honesty I'm not expecting many surprises or returns in the Rumble sadly.

Been binge watching on the Network for most of the day. Back to watching through the attitude era run, just finished Mania 14.

Been watching a few Rumbles myself. The depth of talent 01-04 is obscene.
