Seen some video on social media of Taker jogging to and from the ring when the lights went down, it’s kind of hilarious. I dunno if it’s just because the arena isn’t as dark in reality as it appears on TV, or that modern phone cameras work a lot better in dark conditions these days, but seeing that did kind of ruin the illusion

I've seen that as well. Also the bit during the Cody/Roman match where he was nearly seen under the ring.

It works if he constantly drops the title by being cheated and then he does all he can to win it back against all odds. They shouldn’t do a Roman though and keep it on him.

Gunther as his next long term opponent post Rock makes most sense for that reason. Think something between him and Randy could be good too.

Ive been hearing this online since his return to WWE. That the 'pop' was due to his first return since AEW. Then it was he will get bood for winning the rumble, then it the mania loss to roman was as good as it gets, and yet it keeps getting bigger and better reactions.
And also this whole narrative of 'what next' after finishing his story, despite loads of examples from the past.

It's been anything but that. A brand new gimmick that he has been practically x-rated with and it ended with a brilliant match and outstanding angle, as you said.

Cody beating challengers until then will work. WWE do need some heels. SD is light pre draft. Cody can do the obvious and go against Solo and Jimmy. And then some bigger ones like Orton (that could be a PLE main event) and also AJ.

Best seller of all time, unsurprising given he is an actual actor. Love how he reacted to the gong and the chokeslam.

Rock is great. I think Brock is great at that aspect.
Rocks facial expressions are fantastic though.

Roman's shit-talking was amazing. After hitting the CrossRhodes on Cody and he kicked out; "That move sucks. It never beats anybody! I was just doing it to rub it in his face!"

I honestly think regardless what's shown, this will not have the effect tony thinks it will. You might get a bump in viewership, but it's short term and reeks of desperation that will ultimately leave a bad taste.

They're hyping it as if it's the All Out footage, which is all anyone truly cares about. Punk was fishing for this one as he wanted out. The Bucks just refuse to acknowledge the real stuff, but it's obvious they are in the wrong more given they are the ones who've forced the NDA out there on their names.

I personally can’t see Roman coming back anytime soon (possibly returns at Royal Rumble or even Survivor Series if sooner). Summerslam has been confirmed as taking place at the Cleveland Browns Stadium so a Cody vs Rock match will be perfect for that event. I don’t know how long they are planning to keep the belt on Cody but if it was at least next WrestleMania then Cody vs Roman pt3 is probably what might happen unless the producers really want to push the Roman vs Rock WM match.

I agree SD is light roster wise & in terms of potential opponents for Cody but haven’t they always been light due to it being a shorter show and the so called “smaller show” compared to Raw? Bit like back in WCW with Nitro & Thunder iirc. That’s why Raw get extra picks due to being the longer show.

Talking about the draft, I personally think Cody will go back to Raw (assuming he’s now part of SD after winning the title from Reigns) and the JD will get drafted to SD.

I always figured the'd try get to Rock vs., Roman next Mania - but honestly this Cody/Rock feud feels hot enough for a Mania should they want to wait until then.

Though I don't think Rock will want to wait a year before getting in the ring agian, so maybe Summerslam?

Summerslam, the 2nd biggest event after Mania, would ideally be best. But in that case, Rock would need to get back on weekly TV and training again by late June. And this filming stuff takes most of the year.

Only just caught up on Mania, and before watching Raw or reading what everyone else thought of it (in case it changes my view), I thought:

Night 1:

It was rubbish up until the main event. Every match was either bad or underwhelming and none of them really had a Mania feel to them. Gunther vs Sami I thought was a real let down. It wasn't a bad match but it wasn't the show stealer it needed to be to justify ending Gunther's reign with such a tame feud. No issue with Sami being the one to do it, just the way it happened was very meh.

Then however the main event I thought was excellent. Actually really loved the slow pace of it. Rock was a lot better than I expected. It set up the second night perfectly and made it feel like Wrestlemania again.

Night 2:

Thought it was brilliant. Every match bar one or two of the fillers delivered. Opening match was excellent. Loads of memorable moments.

Main event was a load of over the top predictable nonsense....and I loved every second of it. Sometimes predictable can be a good thing. HHH trolling with the 3.16 tweet didn't even take much away from it. Tying it in with the new era talk really added something to the "story" too. Think probably my favourite Wrestlemania all in all.

Even the silly touches like Cole shouting "holy shh" when Priest won the title, only for Mccathy to then just casually add the "shit" afterwards

Also, just to toot my own horn:

I think more likely Priest takes the other title off Drew, which has a bit of a story to it. Could have Punk be involved in some way (e.g. Drew is distracted celebrating in Punk's face which allows Priest to get a cheap shot in after the match...which is also Priest following Drew's suggestion to wait until the match is finished to cash in).

Called it over a week ago in almost alarmingly accurate detail!

Sad fur my guy AJ Styles. Hope he has one more decent run in him.

The Rock is just fantastic. When all the Vice stuff was happening, he couldn't have returned at a better time. So good on the mic and the promo work was gold. He got me back in for this stint and even in the ring, he still has it. It's a shame that in my time watching wrestling I hated him because he was face (still loved watching him) but if he was heel, he would have been one of my favourites.

Bury Seth? He was the reason Roman lost. Roman chose to attack him when he could have hit Cody. That was the whole point. Seth said he'd be Cody's "shield". A shield is something that takes the blow, it doesn't need offence.

I thought it played out beautifully. Despite everything, Roman couldn't get over the Shield breakup and Seth's betrayal and chose to take revenge ( Seth was in the exact same position as when he hit Roman 10 years ago) rather than finish off Cody. Seth knew all along what he was doing. Both Seth and Roman couldn't let go off the past and it cost both of them their titles. That was the whole point of coming in the Shield attire and music.

The tribal chief character was born from Roman's paranoia of not getting betrayed by family again, and so it was great storytelling to have the same person be responsible for the end of the Tribal Chief.

Instead it felt like more of a transition with all of the Bloodlines collective demons coming back to haunt them (granted Taker for Rock didn't really make sense but probably the best they could have done without Austin).

The biggest surprise of this Mania was that there was essentially..... zero surprises at all. Outside of Undertaker, I guess everyone predicted the glass shattering and I don't think I saw a single person predict Undertaker, so that was pretty cool, although bonkers to the max.

Maybe kind of ... Sami too. But has a Mania ever gone as predictable? Everyone got their story and moment.

Priest can't be champ for long surely, dudes trash.

Yeah that was a bit later on. Late 1999 I think as the Rumble match with the barbed wire bat and thumb tacks was at the 2000 Rumble.

Rock had a great heel run in The Nation then briefly teased being face before screwing everyone to become champ. Then had another great heel run including a really good feud with Foley until Austin beat him at Mania. Although by that point I think he was pretty much getting cheered anyway. I remember being gutted the first time he turned face when it turned out to be a screw job so Vince could make him champion as I really wanted to route for him but also loved Austin.

Jericho was another one of my favourites back at the time. Foley in hindsight is probably who I'd go for if I had to pick one from the lot though. He took so much punishment it was unreal.

The guy responsible for acquisitions wasn't super familiar with wrestling so asked me to come along. This was probably around 2012/13 when Raw came to London.

Well, AEW actually did show the footage of the Punk/Jungle Boy scuffle. Some heated words (no audio so we didn't hear anything) Punk pushes Perry and gets him in a headlock. Lasted about 3 seconds before it was broken up by Joe and backstage people.
