Television Tho Prop Grops Throps

Caught up on day 1 this afternoon because I'm old and can no longer stay up past 11 these days. All felt a little underwhelming except maybe the opener. Tag ladder match wasn't the car crash spot fest I expected it to be though it did get good towards the end. And while I was really happy to see R Truth get a moment because he seems like such a nice guy, turns out he liked a comment by Vince's trainer painting him as the victim and that people shouldn't forget WM is because of him, so yeah that's been soured and feck R Truth. Gunther/Sami was good but I just expected more from them. I thought the last match did feel it's length because it took a while before they did anything and then even longer to actually get going. It did become a lot of fun and at least The Rock learned from last time, slimmed down and put his working boots on. I actually missed the ending because my totally legit source cut it off but assumed Bloodline was winning before the match begun. With Seth being in this match I actually think Drew should batter him tonight, almost make it a squash. Spin it as Seth didn't take him seriously enough and put all his focus on that match and instead wanted to chase the spotlight and be in a match with the Rock.

Absolutely no chance, Cody ain’t losing two nights in a row.

I do have a little sneaky suspicion that they might do Rock v Cody as soon as the next PPV though! What a first defence that would be.
God I fecking hope so. The build this mania made me realise this is a match I never knew I wanted. They've both done a great job.

One of the shocks from last night wasn’t just Sami taking the title from Gunther but this guy nowhere to be seen in the front row last night:

Enjoyed night one. Didn’t expect Gunther to drop the belt before the show began but kinda changed my mind that Sami might actually do it as seemed like that moment with his wife, kid, personal trainer Chad & best mate KO before he made his entrance kinda gave an incline that this was gonna be his night. The main event didn’t fail to disappoint either. End result made the most sense and The Rock is still so good in-ring.

Looking forward to night 2. Did alright on my Mania night 1 predictions and bagged some nice dosh from the Bookies. Mania night 2 predictions:
  • Bobby Lashley and the Street Profits vs. Final Testament - Could got either way but backing Lashley & the street profits to win.
  • LA Knight vs. AJ Styles - Hope LA Knight wins. The guy deserves a good push.
  • Logan Paul vs. Randy Orton vs. Kevin Owens - I’m hoping Randy wins but expecting that WWE are going to keep Logan as champion until Summerslam which is going to be held in his home state.
  • Iyo Sky vs. Bayley - Bayley seems to be the red hot bookies favourite for this but I’m thinking Iyo wins but then drops the belt to Jade Cargill at the next ppv.
  • Seth Rollins vs. Drew McIntyre - I really want Drew to win as he’s been such a good, likeable heel. But reckon Punk is going to get involved in some way and cost Drew. Rollins will win & Priest will cash in a “heist of the century” on the man that last done it at Mania.
  • Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes - Hoping and kinda expecting to see Cody finish his story but I’m more interested in how it plays out and the execution of it. There are just so many potential possibilities for how this one goes. Does Rock turn on Roman? Is there some sort of “Avengers End Game” style interference to come to the aid of Cody when he’s getting absolutely pummelled by the Bloodline potentially headed by Stone Cold & John Cena? That’s the more intriguing part for me rather than the actual match which Cody has to win otherwise you are just copying & pasting last years main event end result.
Iyo/Baley, Baley really should win but she's so about putting others over I wouldn't be shocked either if Iyo wins.

I thought Drew/Seth was a foregone conclusion, but I like the idea of punk costing Drew and Priest cashing in.

Perhaps Drew goes over and punk takes him out, leading to the cash in. Both are fun, but at least drew gets his moment with the later, even if it's short lived.

Credited with forming AEW (along with 26 other guys). Uses his father's name whenever people start to realise he's a bit meh. When that doesn't work, he brings his shit first stint with the WWE as motivation.

He's basically a motivational speaker that can perform in the ring a bit.

Literally none of that's true though is it?

Just caught up with night 1. A good show.

Rhea/Becky was a very good match. I think Becky should've won. Rhea has gone through multiple women legends at Mania already now.

Ladder match was a ladder match. Always full of mad spots.

Rey and co vs Dom and co was decent.

Jimmy and Jey was flat. It should've been better.

6 women tag was meh but Dakota Kai is absolutely stunning.

Gunter vs Sami was quality. Great match. Sami hulking up at the end was brilliant. Gunter needs to go after a world title now.

Main event was outstanding. I thought Rock was going to be very protected and limited but he wasn't and was brilliant. Everybody expected him to gas after 5 minutes but he did 45 and was fine. His sell of the Cody Cutter was class. Tonight's main event is going to be such an overbooked absolute mess that I can't wait for. Feels like about 20 people are going to get involved.

Am gonna guess and say that the match has a similarly weak ref like last night doing everything the Rock tells him to do until he gets bumped and Stone Cold marches down to take over.

Have a feeling Punk costs Drew and the cash in happens keeping Drew strong for him to win at or before Glasgow (if he has signed a new deal).

Talking about a potential MITB cash in, another possibility and this is one that I’d much prefer after hearing this same theory across various social media fan channels now would be Priest cashing in, pinning Seth and thinking he’s won only until it emerges a few minutes later that the MITB contract inside his purple Señor case was not the legitimate one all along. The legitimate contract was is in the old original green MITB briefcase. The one that was placed inside the Señor purple one all along was a fake orchestrated by both JD & Balor. Balor capitalises by cashing in the legitimate contract and takes home the championship thus leading to a Judgement Day civil war.

Thats stupid because the contract belongs to the winner of money in the bank. Not just who happens to carry a briefcase.

Care more about Drew winning here than a winner from Cody and Roman. So yeah lets go Drew. He's been on fire with his character work in the run up to Wrestlemania

Drew should beat the shit out of Punk right now

I feel sorry for McIntyre...but loll!!!

That was such a thrill, from the crowd reaction to the initial claymore near fall (thought we were getting another Sheamus) to that ending. Poor Drew

That’s how you start a WrestleMania :D

Brilliant match. Feel for Drew but that cash-in was gonna happen soon.

I think Drew will win it back off Priest fairly soon I think.

He'll need it for Punk's return feud.

Drew vs Punk is big enough without the title, though I think he will win it back before hand.

Bubba Ray Dudley as special guest ref is a bit random.

What's Snoop gonna do to settle this match then?

Snoop just perving on Scarlett on the commentary

That was stupid but enjoyable. Old-school hardcore nonsense.
