Am I being harsh in saying that some of that was incredibly poorly booked?
Pre-show stuff we can live with, the matches were actually pretty good, Bayley deserved the win but whatever.
Intercontinental match was fine, I didn't mind who won that one as I like all three and most people probably feel the same. Didn't realise it would make Seth a 'Grand Slam Champion' which seems to be the in-thing now, probably why they're dropping main card guys into the IC / US / Tag title divisions more recently.
I don't think Charlotte & Asuka should've gone on next, or that the streak should've been broken there, but again it is passable. Think the match was a little bit too short as well, Asuka should've got a bit more offence in pre-Figure 8. I had a big problem with a lot of the match order in this event actually...
If Braun wasn't going to have a real partner, then that match should definitely not have been on just before the Main Event. The disappointment of no guest partner was probably there to make the Lesnar/Reign match seem more refreshing, but it clearly didn't work as the majority of the crowd have been against the whole thing for months anyway and the chants and boos proved that. Amazed Lesnar won after all that building though, it'll be extremely flat if he just loses it on Raw. Braun not having a partner was just awful though, I think we'll see some shitty ruling applied on Raw where Braun is stripped of the title or has to defend it with an active superstar as his partner, making the whole thing at WM just a waste of time.
Thinking about the US Title more, Jinder is probably the guy most in trouble of fading away if he didn't win it. Seems as though WWE aren't ready for him to become completely irrelevant yet and wanted him to have pinned every guy in contention for the belt recently, so the fall guy had to be Rusev. Obviously though, it shouldn't have been Rusev as he's probably one of the top three most over guys in the company right now.
Undertaker and Cena was far too short for all the build-up. It makes sense for Undertaker to basically dominate and odds are it means there will be a rematch at WresteMania 35 which will finally be the last time. Undertaker looked good enough to go for 10+ minutes easily though and not put on a poor match, so we'll see where it goes. Maybe the end-game is actually that Undertaker will be Champion come WM35 and Cena will defeat him for his record-breaking 17th title.
Match of the night for me was honestly Angle & Rousey vs. HHH & Steph. You just have to force yourself to forget how unrealistic it is that anyone could touch Ronda and if you can do that, it works. She did really well and it was such a classic, old school face vs. heel match that just worked perfectly.
Shinsuke heel turn felt unnecessary and won't do much for him. Charlotte beating Asuka has killed most of the hype. Brock beating Reigns just felt wrong taking everything into account and I think Alexa staying as Champion would've been better for Raw with Rousey eventually being the one to take it off her. I feel as though Nia needed the belt the least out of everyone involved in the World Title matches and she's the only one who won it. Poorly done, IMO.
