This is the best thing we’ve done in years for the atmosphere…

True, but not only is ours the most well-known, it's also the best! I don't think anyone hears it and thinks "okay, well other clubs have similar".

In the video i posted, there's loads of comments from opposition fans saying how awesome it was. None are saying that it isn't unique because no one cares about the others. Ours is the best!

You two have points in that it's better suited to after a game or trophy we've won, and that, right now, with how bleak things look as a whole, it doesn't seem to fit the general feeling surrounding us at the moment, but, I dunno... personally, that song always gets me pumped up for United and it'd even get me excited for a game this season if I heard it at Old Trafford whilst the players were coming out.

Also, @pocco , yeah, that was from Fergie's last home game where we beat Swansea 2-1.

Yessssssss!

I loved this song as a kid. I forget which VHS season review had this at the beginning but I used to listen to it all the time with my dad who I'm sure got sick of it

93/94 I believe.

United road has never been played before a United game before
That's not true - it has been played just as general pre-match music along with a whole load of other random songs in the 30mins or so before kick off

Maybe you aren't in the ground that early - I rarely am myself

I’m talking pre kick off but no rarely in my seat for warm up to be honest

I would argue that one of the greatest atmospheres at Old Trafford was Utd v Middlesborough League Cup Semi-Final 2nd Leg in 1992.
Ferguson's Red & White Army throughout extra time.

"Take me home" isn't a new song, my first memory was at Villa Park in 2004 (FA Cup Semi-Final V Arsenal)
That was probably one of the top 5 greatest atmospheres under Fergie. Unbelievable day. Nobody thought we'd beat them.

United Road is an embarrassing song really, obviously some like it and some don't. Unfortunately it's in keeping with how shite we are on and off the pitch.

United Road has been played much earlier before matches before, but the ground is still usually only half full (perhaps every game? I'm rarely in my seat early really so can't comment), but my point was that moving it to bang on kick off I think has galvanised the atmosphere pre match a bit. I also think they've swapped out the wanky United version for the original by John Denver. The United version sounds like it belongs at a kids birthday party.

As mentioned earlier I'm not sure when they moved the song to kick off but I've not heard the whole stadium singing along to it until recently. I think they played this at Wembley last season and maybe that's why Bruno asked for them to use it at kick off. Does anybody know if it was played at kick off last season or is it something new for this season? If it was it definitely wasn't as loud as it is now as I don't even recall hearing it at kick off

Started this day I believe

Desperate how? Everyone entitled to their opinion, this sort of thing often divides opinion anyway. And the good thing is, it’s done by kick off so you have 90 minutes to sing whatever you want.
Well basically, I think it's a naff tune. It doesn't exactly inspire passion! I don't know how else to explain my dislike for it, it's all preference.
