This business about Kewell...

The question is who played in CM if Keane played at the back. Butt and Phil Neville didn't seem good enough to completely replace Keano at this moment.</strong><hr></blockquote>
Fact is Keane is not good enough to play in the CM
either a box-box player or as a defensive midfielder.I've mentioned already in the requirements that we need a world class defensive midfielder or Box-Box player to replace Keane in the midfield... i mean next season.

I think you have writen off our captain very, very quickly mate.

From football365:

Ferguson will now search for the defensive experience required to stop the rampaging Real Madrid forwards running through his team as they did on two separate occasions last month and also look for the creative cunning which can unlock the meanest defences.

``We have to address the issue of the European Cup because it is not good enough for a side like ours to have only won it twice,'' said the United chief.

``Our form at times has been terrific and we have not had the best of luck but we must demand more of ourselves.

``We've got some young defenders who've got to improve. We don't have the same level of experience as Juventus and Real Madrid.

``They will improve but we need it to develop and get to a level where we can win the European Cup again.</strong><hr></blockquote>

Thanks for the article, uranushk1! :)

No Dans. You must have seen his performance against RealMadrid. Is he anywhere near the old RoyKeane?..If so he would've never allowed Zidane and Co to do their fancy tricks.

Interesting what you say about Robinson - could he have had a bad day perhaps? How has he played all season?

<hr></blockquote>

He cud have - but he seemed overweight & out of sorts - definitely not like the old potential he showed 2 seasons ago.

As to how he's played over the season, I haven't watched too many of Leeds games but he's been okay in some & shaky in others, from those I've seen.

( I just don't want to see another Bosnich issue, that's all! )

All of us know that he has been plagued by a lot of bad injury in the early part of the season. Keano has already shown big improvment in recent matches. Give him a summer to fully recover and see how he performs in the new season. Fergie has a lot of confident on him, so let's don't write him off too early.

Exactly. Don't write the captain off yet.

Yes he has shown some improvements. But his fitness remains a big question.I want him to stay with us for the next three seasons and it can happen only if he plays from the back.

That isn't something you can say with any confidence though is it? You're basing this on the fact that he wasn't at his peak at the end of a season that saw him recovering from a major hip operation and assuming he's done for. I saw in the last two games the real Keano re-emerge and I think he needs some good recuperation time before he comes back back to his old self next year to spearhead our continuing quest to win the CL again.

But you just said that Roy Keane wasnt good enough to play in midfield?!? Im sorry ,but a fella would be hard pushed to take anything you say seriously after that comment, stick to netball son.In regards to the Duff / Kewell quandry,Duff has carried a poor Blackburn team to the brink of European Competition, almost single handedly.Kewell playing in a team with far more talent has done little. The proof will be in the pudding.Duff will be playing for us next season,he will be signed for around 15 million,he is a Utd player through and through,he has all of the qualities the manager looks for and we the fans expect.Kewell,a tremendous talent,it has to be said, does not have all of those qualities,or at least he hasnt showed them yet.

I said Keane cannot play like a box-box engine considering his fitness. If he regains his full fitness then its ok for me.Keano was sublime against Juventus playing in the back.Keano playing in the back can provide the much needed leadership for our defense.Kewell and Duff are class players no doubt. Are Real Madrid looking for Kewells and Duffs no.They are looking for Beckhams. To win the CL, we must pack our team with players like Giggs Beckham and Veron not Kewell or Duff
