Thibault Courtois could go To Real Madrid (Marca) | Courtois: "I will be at Chelsea next year"

I really want him to be reunited with his family, think of the children!

Not that simple. Chelsea may not treat transfer fund as nothing like Roman's early reign, but they're still well funded enough to ignore low balling offers

Hazard theyd have to fork out at least Coutinho's fee at a minimum. I think theyll replace him with leon bailey then

Think they will wait one more year to get him, especially since this is the WC year. They wait even six more months, his fee drops below 100m.

Ah thanks for that, would explain alot! I'm guessing it was a kitlit daft on his part to commit to kids like that seeing as he was only on loan in Madrid.

@Patchbeard indeed, if I were a footballer that young I'd be living the high life! Cases like Rooney where he married his childhood sweetheart is a little different as you know she isn't just with you for the cash and fame, but most footballers are made for committing young (crouch aside, he knows he's blessed).

Does it matter? I'm not the one judging a father. His kids moved to Madrid last year when he and their mother broke up. What do you expect him to do? Quit Chelsea and retire from football and go live with them?

Clearly if he is engineering a move to Madrid now, he is doing what he can to live up to your top dad status which is why I doubt most sensible Chelsea fans will begrudge him the move.

Will Chelsea actually give up both Hazard and Courtois in one summer? That would probably go down as the biggest raid on a club by another in a single window.

With that said, please make this happen.

Had a look at his agent,doesn't seem to have many high profile clients.. If it was someone like Mendes or Raiola we can be sure they would have got his move..

tbh I didn't know about the split, did they initially move to London with him then? I do take back what I said about holding it against him being at Chelsea already

Rumours abound of dressing room tension at the bridge..........

During our last two clean sheets we had Willy Caballero in goal.
 
I don't think I'd be going for Courtois if I were Real Madrid tbh, especially if I got an inkling that DDG would still be open to a move.

The difference between the two is vast and worth spending more or waiting an extra season for. Imo.

De Gea has contract till 2020, Courtois has till 2019, easier to get Courtois. Add to that, last time Madrid failed to sign De Gea, he extended his contract. No reason to think why he won't again. On the other hand Courtois is openly asking Madrid to sign him. It's easier to get the Chelsea man, mess up that they might end up with no one.
 
Don't think Madrid are in a position to spend a lot of money for a GK, they've got a huge rebuilding job on their hands, they're really lagging to Barca.
They need to replace a few players who're getting along, Bale is broken, Ronaldo's goals need to be replaced soon, plus their squad looks really thin.
That's not one window's work, with Courtois' contract ending next season, they can get him for cheap.

Hope we can get Kovacic from them, in the process.

It is definitely easier to get Courtois but I think we're talking about the best keeper in the world who i still young for a keeper vs a very good keeper.

This is of course dependent on DDG wanting a move and Man Utd agreeing to move.

If I were Perez though and DDG's camp had indicated they were still wanting to come, I would hold the extra year and stick with Navas in goal and aim for De Gea. I don't think the jump in quality from Navas to Courtois is anywhere near as big as from Navas to DDG.

Of course, if DDG wants to sign a new contract and is happy at Man Utd, its a no goer.

I wonder whether the rebuilding process is being a bit overblown tbh.

The same was being said about Barcelona at the beginning of this season. How Real Madrid have smashed them past few seasons, how they've invested wisely in youth and look set to continue dominating. And yet...here we are, with Barcelona looking very good for yet another domestic double, one of the favourites in the CL and Real Madrid fighting to stay in the top 4 places!

Things can change very quickly in football.

Not impossible, but heart wrenching. I've done it for 6 months and it came to a stage where I was ready to quite to get back home.

Mad for wanting kids while he's still young and financially set for life? I'd say he'd be mad waiting until he's in his 40's for kids, as what kid wants a parent who looks like they should be a grandparent and what parent wants to be over the hill while their kids are teenagers?

Honestly thought Courtois could've done better on some of the later Watford goals. Seemed to be half-hearted dives, or at least not full stretch. Now, it's probable that he couldn't have saved them anyway, but he did seem a bit uninterested at that point. Fair enough, after going behind late & down a man, but a bit noticeable.

Will be interesting to see his performance vs Barca. A bit of an audition vs their main rival.
 
2 years younger than De Gea, cheaper and one of the top-5 keepers in the world.
Also unlike De Gea, seems desperate to join us.
I'd be happy with this transfer.

Also, would like to see a fire sale of Ronaldo, Bale, Benzema, Navas and Modric with incoming transfers of Hazard/Neymar, Kane/Dybala and Skriniar/Bonucci (all except Neymar are realistic).
Summer 2018 is going to be crucial for us.
 
Think Oblak release clause is €100m. I think they would go for him

No need to keep player who has their heart somewhere else. Just sell him, take the money and go for Oblak 1 year younger. I rate Oblak very high and he's clearly realistic transfer for Chelsea.
