Shouldn't there be sunshine on the Thiagoff side, rain on the Thiagon?
Too soon?

hold on! I thought Thiago was meant to be on a cruise? Was that all fecking nonsense??

It is his brother, Rafinha, in the pic.

A pic and post on twitter, btw, that I'm not convinced ends his transfer speculation

This transfer made too much sense for it to happen.

We will probably spunk 30 million on Fellaini.

My view on this is that he's staying where he is.

Pros to staying:
Gets to live in Barcelona
Gets to play for Barcelona
Gets to earn >Twice as much as he is now
Doesn't have to leave

Pros to leaving
Guaranteed more football, aiding his WC chances

That's about it.

It's been a long time since Barca were supposedly trying to convince him to stay. What he and his agent have managed to do is get them to massively increase his wages, and probably increase his playing time. I'm sure the thought of leaving certainly appealed to him and he was prepared to go, but weighing up the options, I'd expect him to stay now.

Who wouldn't love that city, doesn't mean shit for the actual transfer though. Just give it a rest until moyes takes over and we can actually start doing some business.

It could very will be a ruse to get an improved contract as I mentioned was a possibility from the very start but his status has yet to be confirmed, one way or another.

Plus, this theory that he'd improve his WC chances with more playing time at United or anywhere else is a failure to even understand La Roja let alone Del Bosque.

Exactly. I've not even been invested in this transfer as I don't think he'll come anyways. But I'm surprised the people who have been getting themselves sooo worked up over the last few weeks are suddenly giving up so easily now.

:lol::lol:... After seeing the thread title i actually thought he was staying at Barca

Phew :nervous:

Here's how I currently feel. If he comes to us (which feels highly unlikely now) he can become a great player, and almost guarantee himself a place in our hearts as fans and most likely have a good chance of playing a decent amount of minutes in the WC next year

If he stays at Barca, I hope he gets zero playing time, spirals into depression and ends up fatter than Anderson after the summer holidays

Ain't no sunshine when he's gone
It's just Strootman every game
Ain't no sunshine when he's gone
Which just leaves us Anderson
And it's all cos Moyes is away

As an aside, how good is Rafinha in real life?

I signed him in last years Football manager when I was Reading (not knowing he was Thiago's brother) and he was an absolute beast for me, ended up selling him to PSG for about £45 million.

Yeah, same.

Barca could give him a bumper new contract and then loan him out for a season to another Spanish club.

Well I've heard enough, sign him the feck up

That is a very strange message to post if you're on the verge of signing for another club.

Lets hope that we can bring someone else in who can really improve us in the middle of the park.

Maybe he was just sucking up to the catalans to ensure he's not a hated figure when he leaves
Or does that sound desperate as it feels?

TBH I really doubt he'd be tweeting that if he didn't mean to stay. Somehow seems an attempt to show his hand.
Its not something you'd tweet if you were planning to leave.

Rubi, the new assistant to Tito, who was coaching in Segunda for years recently said the best player he ever faced as a player was Messi but the best player he coached against was Rafinha - whom he says is the best player in Segunda.

I've written about Rafinha before and the upshot is that no one is quite sure how good he is or can become but he is versatile and is highly rated by the club. At times I find him to be a slightly more talented Sergio Roberto and on occasion he oozes droolworthy potential. We'll see what he can do as he is likely to be loaned to Celta Vigo despite his first team renewal with Barcelona.

Cheers for the info mate. In a weird way, I'd quite like him to go on and be amazing, as he gave me so much joy on FM

God that sounds so sad :(

If he really loved the club, he would have posted about loving FC Barcelona and posted a football related pic of some sort. I reckon this is just a ploy to affect the odds on betfair. The canny bastard.

TBF it has long been my plan to move to Barcelona once the lottery finally delivers, so I can't begrudge him not wanting to leave (if that is the case, which it most likely is).

FM sounds like something I would quite enjoy but who has the time. I actually had been resigned to thinking Rafinha was being severely overrated by the club but then that Espanyol match a couple of months ago really made me question how much I may be underrating him

Plus, isn't he meant to be on Holiday?

It's pretty vague. Many players express their affection for their current clubs just before moving elsewhere; it is definitely a diplomatic gesture to make less Barca fans hate him once he does leave. Hell, players do this even for their former clubs after they've moved (see Ronaldo's views re United). I don't read much into that. Rooney probably loves England as well and would post that shit on his twitter but would be off in a heartbeat to the first club that offers him more money than he deserves. Keep the hope lads.

Or a ploy to affect - in some way - the meeting he's scheduled to have with Barcelona in the near future.

We're never going to sign a proper, decent central midfielder again, right?
