 Resigned to losing out comments like this based on a non existent AS story.

Quite. Here are two more hysterical little girls:

This cnut has used us good and proper.

This is looking less likely by the day, isn't it?

Thiago hasn't signed for us from a yacht in the Med = deal is off and was never on.

As everyone sensible has been saying for at least a week, we won't hear anything 'till Thiago and Moyes have both been back for at least a few days.

cnut or wise young man? - You decide.

Wise young cnut.

De Gea propably knows better and I won't be surprised if he will text/call Thiago during his vacations but as You said - it really is a huge decision to make, so time will be required.

I'm guessing that you have failed to install your sarcasm filter, and it has made you seem like a hysterical little girl.

I do hope your irony-module is in full operation!;)

Some of you are a bunch of raving spastics.

Can we have warnings for people posting obviously bollocks Twitter rumours in this thread?

If a tweet is quoting another news source, check the source. Not hard.

Is it ok to say you think it's off if you didn't think it was on in the first place?

Absolutely nothing has happened, and people from general optimism that we're going to sign him have gone in a pessimism that he has just used us for a new deal. Poor muppets!

The longer this takes it seems more likely that he'll renew his Barca contact. It has nothing to do with Twitter.

I've had that feeling for the last week. How long does it take to offer the buy out clause, then offer a contract to Thiago?

Did everyone just ignore the tweet posted which confirmed that the AS rumour was complete bullshit? We've got people throwing themselves out of windows left, right and centre it seems.

With our manager and the player in question on holiday? I'd say probably the length of time it takes them to finish their holidays.

Natural selection at work. Best let it play out.

Looking at the situation from what we know, I think it's still likely he'll come here. If there was any chance he was staying then I think Barcaand their papers would be making more of a big deal about it. They still seem pessimistic. On the othernhand we'll keep quiet till its a done deal/till Moyes is here.

Personally, I think his decision is made. His dad wouldn't have flown to Manchester if he wasn't serious. No fecking chance.

The situation hasn't changed since he left for holiday. From what I can tell, the boy is no more closer to renewing at Barcelona than when he left for holiday. The only snag is what Hunter is talking about which should be sorted quickly. Believe you muppets! Believe

For charleysurf, to answer your question about Barca not offering Thiago new deal, I got that from Graham Hunter twitter feed and Mundo Deportivo (barca-friendly). Whether it's 100% true we don't know but I'm willing to go with that information as Hunter has been consistent and probably the best source for this transfer (close to thiago's family).

Manchester United so keen to sign Thiago quickly, they'll offer Barcelona more than his buy-out clause

Twitter today is full of a rumour that Thiago is set to stay at Barcelona after receiving an offer to double his money. It sounds quite similar to something we covered yesterday, a Twitter rumour gone a bit crazy. The two main accounts Tweeting the 'news' are @CentreTransfer and @DeadlineDayLive, that may sound like nothing, just some Twitter accounts spreading false rumours, but combined they have close to 300,000 followers which means the story has now spread like wildfire and become something of a 'fact'.

Both accounts say they have got the information from Spanish newspaper AS. Obviously the first place to check to see what truth was behind the reports was AS. So we did, expecting a huge front-page spread we found a story about the Spanish national team instead. Nothing on page 2 about Thiago, page 3, 4, nothing in the newspaper at all about the player being close to agreeing new terms with Barcelona.

It's been entirely made up, it's not on their Spanish website either, or on their English one, we can only assume someone has made it up to gain some followers on the social network. The tactic is certainly working for both the accounts.

What AS actually do say about Thiago is interesting. They haven't done a lengthy piece, the situation hit saturation point in Spain and they've all got a bit bored of it. However, they reckon that Manchester United want the deal completed soon, which would obviously give David Moyes a huge boost in his first week at Old Trafford.

In order to do this they are willing to pay Barcelona more than the player's buy-out clause. The current La Liga champions had been trying every trick in the book to bend the buy-out clause to make it less appealing, including threatening the player with a hefty tax bill. Manchester United are to said hope that by offering around €22m, as opposed to the buy-out clause of €18m, that they can get the player with less fuss and before any other club get into detailed personal negotiations with Thiago and his representatives.

Mazinho has also requested a clause which means his son is likely to get games at Manchester United or can leave for a similar fee to what they bought him for, that's also been reported elsewhere. Paying an extra few million to make the transfer easier also shows Thiago how much Manchester United want him and how they are willing to try and keep him out of the situation, Barcelona had brought up the tax issue because they wanted the clause personally from the player.

The extra effort from the new regime at Manchester United could help smooth things along and they may get their wish of securing the player to give David Moyes a brilliant first week.

I tried Olly but I got stuck with all of the gibberish in the basic editor I didn't understand.

He just wouldn't be tweeting that if he wasn't staying, would he? feck!
