Let's not turn against eachother lads. If this one turns sour, we'll need the support from each and every one of us.

Redcafe is not only a place to discuss football, it's also an online support group for muppets everywhere.

Let's be honest, this is a Fergie signing. It's been common knowledge that we've been after this kid for the past 2 years.

Right, I'm going to bed. Waking up at 5:30 tomorrow for a golf game at 6:30. When I return at 9am, I will expect this thread to gain an extra 10 pages at least.

Good luck lads. Let the muppet-force be with you.

Fair enough, that could be I suppose. I'm not sure it's the wisest path to go down, guaranteeing players starting berths irrespective of form or circumstances, but hey, who am I to argue?

It may be something as bland as 'You're in the starting 11' to be honest.

CNN italian sports correspondent

More than that. He's a muppet king. His twitter feed is fantastically transfer orientated. He puts a rumour up as soon as he can "source" it regardless of likelihood. He also blocks a lot of people.

Click each of that links. Tanc doesn't have the best rep.

Fair enough - still if its not just pushing out Hunter's earlier tweet its a 2nd source!

Moyes out. You don't guarantee anyone a starting spot.

Would he not be the majority of United fans' first choice mid-field alongside Carrick anyway?

He'd certainly be mine if he signs - so whats the problem, the lad wants to play all the time & is leavin Barca because of not gettin games with them because they're stacked in mid-field - we're not & he'll walk into our mid-field & many other top European teams mid-field also, so if he signs for us - be thankful for Christ sake!

Rumours over Thiago Alcantara are persisting, and now the midfielder has added to the speculation.
Whether he entirely realised it or not, the Barcelona man has been captured on video signing the shirt of a Manchester United fan who asked for his autograph.
The video has been posted onto Youtube by the fan who offered the 22-year-old his Nemanja Vidic home kit for the Spaniard to sign.
The user who posted the video, Ameer Haj-Yahia - was asked if he quizzed the midfielder if he would be joining United.
To which he responded: "I haved, he smiled..." adding describing the smile in his view as,"It was a yes."
The short clip has been picked by by Spanish newspaper Sport and posted on their website with analysis:
"The video was posted by that amateur this Thursday through Youtube and always the possibility that would have been recorded at another time. However, some details leave no room for error.
"The United shirt-with the number of Vidic - is one that has worn the Manchester set of this season and the summer dress uniform you saw Thiago is the under 21 has worn during the European Championship in Israel.
"It should be recalled that last summer the Barcelona midfielder could not participate with the team in the London Games after injuring himself in the final of the Copa del Rey against Athletic, so the images correspond to this summer."
Clearly it does not mean he 'is signing for United, but for fans longing to see him wear the shirt - it's better than him refusing to sign it, right?

TBH I'm now totally over Thiago. Its obvious he is coming, so the appeal of the chase is now gone.

We now need a new muppet target.

Being first choice and being giving a guarantee that you'll start every match are two different things. What if he has a dip in form, or the situation calls for a different set-up than one which accomodates him?

It may be a throw away statement, but I'd be stunned if he has been given some form of official guarantee to always start.

Don't get cocky fella. Imagine how you'll feel if you wake up in the morning and there are quotes from him or his agent putting the move in doubt.

I think he's likely to want to go back than the others who have left Barca. He doesn't seem to be as fiercely loyal to Barca, which may be due to his Brazilian/Italian background. He said this two years back;

http://espnfc.com/news/story/_/id/9...ncertain-over-barca-future?src=mobile&cc=5739

"I would be lying if I said that my dream is to succeed at Barca," he told EFE. "My dream is to succeed in football. I want to be a player who people remember forever."

Oh, the thrill of the chase will be back on and hence then I'll be wanking furiously again.

I would imagine Moyes has told him he'll be a first choice starter. I would imagine the only legal guarantee of this would be a minimum number of minutes to avoid a release clause being activated a la his Barca contract. United aren't going to agree to something they aren't comfortable with. This is a match made in heaven.

I'm not even going to entertain the thought of him and Kagawa linking up, playing one-two's. I'd faint with a muppet fever.

I think you guys are taking 'promised' far too literally. 'Minimum minutes clause'? United have never gone for that sort of thing, and I don't think a managerial change means we're going to start doing it now.

I don't think Moyes' would 'guarantee' Thiago a starting spot, but then he wouldn't have to, would he? Let's face it, Thiago is going to get a starting spot, and a guarantee-free conversation about what he can expect at United would make that very clear.
