Film There Will Be Blood - Is it the best movie ever made?

I'm between Terminator 1 and 2. Like you said, all about personal taste but in what I look for in terms of storyline, action, romance (1st), sci-fi, affects, them 2 for me. I'd also add Brad Fiedel doing the soundtrack for both films, absolutely incredible

I think that is more related to the thing I preffer the most, or among those I like the most... and noone can really say much if it's just what I like, as much, offer options to broaden the horizon...yet also

I can preffer and have as my favorite, greatest player Heinze, but hardly if I'm being objective he was greater than Maradona in football, I still can preffer heinze, but it's closer to my favorite, than the trully greatest (even if such things neither exists).

I can preffer what Daddy Yanqui does as my favorite music, yet I think Bach has a thing or two over Daddy as a musician.

So even if I do not apreciate a certain thing, I do not dig Bach, I don't even know Kurosawa, Ozu, KUbrick, Copolla and think that Rambo is the best movie ever made, I think we all know that at certain point that there are limits to even our very own knowldge of a certain art, sport, subject from life that we can't even imagine or sometimes even have the tools to totally apreciate it to call only one thing the GREATEST ever...this also reminds us how silly is to even attemp on any field to have a single Greatest ever sthg.
I dunno if I make my point or not and nope, just in case, it's not snobism. We can dig more than anything Ed Sheeran, can we actually call him the greatest musician ever? without feeling that at least certain fellas like Bach, even if we do not dig him, has more of a right to be a contender in what in fact it's also very silly thing from the start no matter who is involved?

Shawshank redemption or Terminator 2 for me and its not even close, almost perfect movies. Especially shawshank, about the worst thing you can say about it is nitpicking, that the actors don't age nearly as much as they should, and the ending too, leaving you wondering what happens. But that's just a perspective thing because at the same time it hits that theme of "survival" and "hope" exquisitely.

This is one of those rare instances in which a movie can be very good and painfully boring at the same time. The final scene is the best part of the movie, by far.

Gangs of New York will always be the far superior DDL movie from that timeframe in my opinion.

I thought it was garbage. Complete letdown, watched it and expected a lot as it was nominated for a lot of awards. Awful slow and garbage ending.

I have a similar view to yourself but would pick The Terminator.
I also think the ending to Shawshank is just perfect the way it is. No words needed, nor a further explanation. Just 2 friends and the blue of the Pacific Ocean.

The Sting is the greatest movie of all time and anyone who says it isn't is just a liar.

One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest has better acting than any movie ever made. Shawshank comes close to as does The Godfather and one of my all time favorites Cool Hand Luke. So no to There Will Be Blood which is a good movie without great acting.Terminators we’re great action movies, just no acting.

Read this as Brad Friedel at first was mind blown.

Nah, it's decent but not the best movie ever.

I watched E.T last week with my daughter, first time she watched it and I hadn't seen it for about 20 years. It's a better film.

No country for old men is also better.

Feck it, Slingblade is a better film than it as well.

ET is a horrible movie.

If a movie is painfully boring it's not a good movie. I don't know what you're doing if you're watching movies for any other reason that being entertained.

Some of you guys need to delve more deeply into the ideas behind the movie and the different scenes. it's profound.

Art is not equivalent to entertainment, it's far superior.

Superhero movies are entertaining yet they have the aesthetic value of a child's drawings.

Didn't say that did I. I asked why would you sit through 2 and a half hours of something if it's boring. If it's boring it's not very good art is it?

Apologies if I got you wrong.

The movie is far from being boring though.
