Television The Wire

You guys are making me want to rewatch it again from the start.

Looks for downloads in HD... (if anyone would like to show their anger at torrenters and PM me a link so I can report them, That would be much appreciated)

One of my university modules next semester is Economics of Crime so I'll rewatch The Wire for background research.

I'd highly recommend reading David Simon's The Corner as well.

Just watched a scene early in S3 which I didn't remember at all from previous viewing, so flicked my old standard definition version on to check thinking it might be a deleted scene or something (it wasn't, my memory evidently just sucks) but looking back at the original version it looked bloody awful after getting used to HD!

Okay, another Wire sighting to share. This time it's a Fresh Air interview with DC crime novelist George Pelecanos, who served as a writer/producer on The Wire.

At the beginning of the interview he reads a passage from his latest book, and it really reminded me of the show. Rest of the interview was pretty interesting too, including the parts about the show.

Great interview with Jamie Hector: Jamie Hector on loving The Wire and building his own backstory for Marlo.

So much can be said about Marlo, but I'd like to know how many times he showed emotion? He lacked the ability to show any compassion or sympathy, and was a terrifying character. I think he only breaks the facade once when he is told that Omar challenged him, which brought up the "My name is my name" response. He was clearly out of his element in the end though. I felt sympathy for him because even though he escaped justice, his punishment was that the two kids didn't know who he was, while Omar's name lived on.

Episode one of season one, finished.

I know I'm going to like this and can't wait to binge watch them. Oh, small little thing that really surprised me, a black, female, homosexual as POV character! Didn't expect that from a 12 year old TV show.

Four episodes in ;

Watching it for the first time and slowly realising it was brilliant was fantastic. We envy you.

The worst is when you finish it and slowly come to the horrible realisation that you'll probably never see anything as good as it again.

Just keeps getting better and better. Actually, after four episodes most people are still a bit unsure about it, so if you're liking it now then you're gonna absolutely fecking love it.

Episode ten, season one, finished.

:(

This is quality. So glad I decided to watch it.

Just finished watching the HD Remaster of season 1 and it is even better than I remembered..I'm starting season 2 tonight ...I cannot say enough good things about this show.

There are so many great characters, a favourite seems to vary by the day. At the moment Bunk. Working my way through s05 of the remasters now. So glad HBO did this and provided me an excuse to binge watch it all again.

So I'm guessing Bubz is everyones favourite character, yeah? I love that dude.
One of the shows greatest strengths is the huge array of characters who are all almost equally well portrayed, but Bubbles does have something extra special about him.

In a show filled with phenomenal acting Andre Royo really did manage to stand out.

I found Season 2 a bit boring to be fair

I could see how some folks can say season 2 was off the boil after the greatness that was season 1. But the fact that they changed environments seamlessly and told a tale that came together like a jigsaw puzzle in the end was fantastic. They managed to show virtually every element of the drug trade and it is possibly the most authentic show I've ever seen.

My favourite season was hands down season 4 and Bubz, Omar and barksdale were my fav characters.

Season two felt a bit disappointing first time around due to the deviations from the Barksdale angle, but when I viewed it second time around I absolutely loved it.

Yeah, two is incredible, my second favourite after four. I'm about to re-watch it in HD, might even go buy me some drugs.

Season Two is my favorite. Nicko's cousin is the most retarded character I have ever seen in TV.

On the other side, Season Four is likely the season with the best writting. The only seasons in any TV show that can be compared with it are the first three seasons of The Wire.

Five was wank though (by The Wire standards) while okay (by normal standards).
