The Trump Presidency - Part 2

Nobody is going to come out against any of the picks.

It’s a full on cult at this stage. And the picks basically show dissenters what you get for falling in line.

Russia with direct access to US intelligence. What could possibly go wrong.
I mean... I thought it was plainly obvious Trump was a Russian asset before his first term and almost a decade later we've had nothing but a non-stop stream of further evidence to support that 'theory'.

He had plenty of bonkers appointments the first time round as well, this is nothing new.

Murkowski and Collins will likely vote against some of the comical picks, mostly cause there is not much Trump can do to any of them. But it won't be enough.

I wonder if soldier senators (e.g., Cotton) if they'll dare go against Trump for Tulsi appointment. I think not.

Yeah, it's just even more blatant now. The guy has nothing to lose and can literally burn things to the ground with the blessing of many. I think he may be the only POTUS in history who has talked this much shit about his own country (the compilation would be lengthy). That should have been enough of an alarm bell for any leader of any country but ...sometimes I wonder why I am even still trying to rationalize it all.

Can anyone explain what is this DOGE? What purpose it will serve?
Fire lots of federal employees to improve the efficiency. Vivek basically said fire 75% of them just randomly (even/odd first/last number of SSN).

Also to close some federal departments entirely and send the remaining outside of DC.

If done right, can be good, but it likely won't be done right.

The 2 bosses of the Dept of Efficiency will claim that as a win
Wouldn't even shock me if that's part of the thought process. I know at least two people in the feds who are looking to get out of dodge. Which is probably what they're hoping happens more of. It's sad because I have met some incredibly talented, devoted and hard work people across different departments in DC you absolutely want working in the public interest.

Agreed. Guvmint workers get a bad rap sometimes (all the time?) but there a lot of intelligent people that really care about their job. So, what's likely is we'll lose the best ones and the shitty ones will stay. A massive brain drain.

One lady I know locally has about 2 years left to retire. There's no doubt that if they offer her an early retirement, while keeping her pension, then she'll bolt for the door.

I wondered how many federal employees would be untocuhable for this, the latest figures I can find are 2019, but it says 70% work in defence or security.

There is no way any of those go, so they wil be just shutting down things like education would be my guess.

Alternatively, given its named after a meme, its just a grift to say musk is involved in governement and will do exactly nothing.

It’s funny how it started out fairly normal with Lil Marco, but then it just completely unraveled into levels of depavity I honestly hadn’t anticipated.
Lots of establishment senators won’t be happy about it. Whether they show some balls is another question entirely.

I mostly like what I am seeing thus far from president-elect. Gaetz sucks but he is a loyal dog, and loyalty is needed this time around. Tulsi pick is a spot on. Her book - For Love of Country: Leave the Democrat Party Behind - is a great read and truly inspirational.

Gaetz and Gabbard are terrible picks. The former is being investigated for having sex with minors and the latter has little to no CV for the position she’s been nominated for. Her military service was related to being a medic and a military police platoon commander, which has feck all to do with intelligence

Yeah, don't care about Gaetz. Tulsi is awesome. Liked her since the first time I listened to her on Rogan's show, almost fell in love when she dismantled Kamala during 2020 primaries. I have faith, hopefully she doesn't disappoint.

I refuse to believe that you mean what you're posting.

Rubio and Hegseth aren't any better.

It's a clown show.

A drug addict paedophile, what could possibly go wrong?
Sorry that was harsh and inaccurate.

Gaetz is a drug addict who trafficked underage girls across states lines for the purposes of administering narcotics to minors and having non-consensual sex with them.
