I agree 100% mate, of course we have. What I'm saying is while we've had more good luck than bad we've had both. You guys have had poor luck with pogba indeed, the difference in your team when he's available is huge. I made a comment this week on just how different you look with or without.

United's worst luck could be that Lukaku never received that ban from the FA.

Also quite odd that since 2012/13 all the title winners have been blues of some sort and that will continue this year. Random I know.

I simply can't buy the "luck" angle. Do you think City's approach would have changed if KDB was missing? They have scored late goals because they have battered teams into submission.
I've gotten slack for saying it in the past but I'll say it again. Imo, we were never involved in a title race. The title race was over once the window shut.
We didn't do nearly enough to solve our issues. City did, with a squad that was already better than ours. Our approach in the two matches against our closest rivals also accentuated matters.
We approached both games with an inferiority complex. I predicted 3rd at the start of the year, so I'm more than happy with second. What has me worried is that I think the same gap will still exist next season.

There’s no a title race, City will win it with 110 pts

But they won’t repeat this next season

City will win it now surely, but it's an exceptional season, it won't be Barca pep dominating La liga.

I still maintain hope.

Mourinho will cement second spot and focus on the CL now though I feel.

City v United final?
That final will go alot like the Barca vs United CL finals. I'd rather play the real Barcelona in that and we would have a better chance.

Starting to believe we won't blow it now. think the gap is too big. Hope it doesn't come back to haunt me but when you're crushing Spurs with Mangala in the team, Delph at LB and David Silva away it's a good sign.

I think the same about Jose too. Don't think the players have the drive to push for it properly either.

Anyone saying they have been lucky is a lazy thinker. They are actually playing the best football we have seen in over a decade. Yes, they are serial w@nkers but we should give credits when due.

The transition process after SAF left was what got us here. We can’t just throw money at the Moyes/LVG era and then expect things to change immediately.

I am quite sure Pep told City to buy KDB while they were both in Bundesliga. The Pep blueprint was forged way before Pep arrived so he’s had plenty of time to figure his dream team out unlike Mourinho’s United.

City have won this. Had some hopes about Spurs, but City is back in top form. I think the win over us gave them even more confidence back.

City v United final?

think how it would be weird that Pep's team would face United again in final but haven't faced any different team in cl final yet.

Change thread title to "the race for second place".

Seriously though, it's over. That City team is one of the best sides that the PL has ever seen. In other seasons we would've been capable of winning the title. It's not so much down to us but to that City team who is just miles better than anyone else.

We should concentrate on finishing second ahead of Conte and Klopp and hopefully winning some cups along the way. The best I could hope for is winning the CL while eliminating City along the way. I'd actually take that over winning the PL.

I think the biggest reason why you will not blow this is Pep. He will not take it easy as he is very much a perfectionist and he wants to keep on winning and pushing the players. Might be bad for CL as you might get tired for the champions league even with the ability to rest players, but the league you really got in the bag now.

Don’t be modest.
Not even Moyes would blow it at this stage. 14 points ahead of the nearest challengers? Come on, Bro - you are allowed to celebrate on this forum without any hassles. You have earned it.

This isn’t a title race anymore - this is a picture of 19 pregnant slugs chasing after a Cheetah. I don’t think we will see City stutter until Champions League games resume. Apart from the superior football they play, they also appear to be very very fit.

Yeah 14 points is a bit much at this point. It would take a miracle/full blown meltdown to catch them now. We just have to keep getting points and hoping for either.

The only hope we have is that we close the gap slightly before the CL resumes. I'm talking around 7 or 8 points, not the 11 it is now presuming we win tomorrow. Then pray that they get distracted by the CL and it starts to affect their league form. I would even sacrifice the CL if we are in that position. But if the gap stays like this when those games come around then we go all out for the CL and rest players in the league. We ain't going to win the PL with a 14 point deficit in February so you might as well focus on the other competitions and trophies. We need to keep them on their toes and not let it become a procession.

You're spot on. The way kept going even after the game was effectively over is why I think that they won't blow it. That Pep guy is some crazy guy.

You might be right, he seems to demand non stop concentration and looked furious at us switching off for the Spurs goal. Also when he was asked about us getting complacent in the pre-match interview he looked fit to kill the reporter.

Let's hope this is a one off season and the rest of the teams buck up for next season and give City a proper challenge.

It's not 14 points unless you've conceded defeat tomorrow.

Keegan lost a 12 point lead.

Giving up before Christmas!

Yeah it's over. I can't even see the side being motivated to win it anymore.

All eggs in one basket and that's the Champions League (and that's going to be 10 times more difficult)

the only slight upside from man city walking the title is that if we can nail down a guaranteed champions league place early with 5 or 8 games to go then we may see mourinho give some youth players a chance to start games and impress him

Jose's experience in the EPL hasn't been as big a factor as a lot of us thought.
Took Guardiola a season to adjust.
There is an awful lot of lazy thinking in this thread.

Let's concentrate on getting the second spot trophy. I'll count the league starting from second place.

I can easily see pep after winning the league giving a cocky interview of how his football is the only way football is supposed to be played. I always feel pep is far from a saint and has a cnutish behaviour in him but fair play to him for managing to win the league in England.

Yep, 11 point gap if you win tomorrow. No way am I counting my chickens yet because as you say Newcastle lost a bigger lead later in the season. United lost an 8 point lead with 6 games to go. I do think a gap as big as this can have a psychological effect on the chasing pack but there’s always a danger of us getting complacent too.

Im no way saying it will happen. But it's not Christmas yet! If I was gonna bet I'd bet on city

Yeah they ain't giving away an 11 point lead. The proof is in their overall performances, they've rarely been outplayed in the PL so it's not like they fluked their way to the top of the table.
