(The Times) Arsenal's Alexis Sánchez and Mesut Özil want to leave

when the likes of Vardy can ask for and get 100k, then no wonder Sanchez and Ozil think they can ask for tonnes more

We should make a bid, say £50m; the worst they can do is reject it. At least we would unsettle him, and it would be funny seeing Arsenal fans' reaction especially after RVP.

The agents must be loving the fact that both their contracts are up at the same time. The thought of losing them both at once must terrify Arsenal so all the negotiating power is with the two players.

If they are asking for 250, they will likely settle for somewhere in the 220-230 range, which they absolutely deserve. That is what top players make these days and they are top players.

Arsenal would be fools not to pay but we will see.

I'm sure we can easily accommodate the both of them once Rooney and Schweinsteiger are off the wage bill. We could certainly do with a winger/ forward and a midfielder. :)

What do they earn now?
Arsenal's wage bill is capped somewhere around the 120-150(?) mark I think, so they're both probably on somewhere near that figure.

No surprise, but I'm not sure Arsenal will pay it since neither player will really have many better options to move onto - they've both been at (and basically failed at) the Spanish two, so seeing-out their careers at a club based in a popular city, earning massive money with the outside chance of occasionally maybe challenging for something once in a while, could be enough for them at this stage. Arsenal will get them to agree such significantly lower figures I think.

where in Sir Alex's name will they play in the starting 11?
What ind of formation?
and who will they replace?
lets buy them regardless

The amount of money in football these days. £250,000-a-week. I'll never get my head around why a ball game can generate so much money, that some of the players can earn that in a fecking week. £250,000-a-year is a great salery, but that's what they get in a week, after 7 days.

Mourinho does rate Ozil....

Not sure if joking but Mourinho marginalised him at Madrid and pushed him out wide.. Ozil disliked playing for him in a tactical perspective.

Their only two world class players in their squad. This is going to be more important than any transfer departure, arrival or stadium payments. If they don't realize this they're going to have a hard time attracting players of similar ilk in the near future, and Wenger's replacement too.

they've both been at (and basically failed at) the Spanish two.

Bit harsh, I'd say on the whole Ozil succeeded at Madrid and Sanchez at Barcelona.

I think both players will get a contract in that region.

I don't think Ozil failed at Madrid

There are rumours that City want Sanchez, I would like him at United, not sure sure about Ozil. £50m plus a pound should get Sanchez.

Wasn't joking. Mourinho described Ozil as the best #10 in the world and compared him favourably to Hazard when he was explaining why Hazard didn't suit him as a #10. He rates Ozil.

Ozil doesn't seem to have a problem with Jose either: "He's a great manager. I believe that any club he goes to now he will be successful again. I know how special he is as a manager. He is a manager who always supports his team and always protects his team. He's getting the best out of any player."

Don't think so either. In fact I remember the caf clamouring to sign him and Ronaldo being annoyed that he was sold. The Madrid fans weren't impressed either.

Good for them. No reason why they shouldn't get that wage in this market and no reason why Arsenal shouldn't pay them.

Let's bid £50 million each on both players and offer them the salary they ask for. Would be funny to see Arsenal fans meltdown.

I really can't imagine either of them leaving this summer.

That said, if we somehow had a 0.0001% chance of signing either, I'd completely go for it.

Nah it's got to be £50 million with a £1 add on.

In terms of wages Aren't we basically paying schweimsteiger that wage now for doing feck all, once he leaves at the end of the season that's one wage covered. :smirk:

Rooney and Bastian out, Sanchez and Ozil in.

Martial
Sanchez - Ozil - Mkhitaryan
Pogba - Herrera

Odd I heard from good sources Ozil had agreed in principle to re-sign if he hadn't already. Sanchez has definitely stalled. They want big wages for sure and I'm sure United and City will be in their ears.

Financially it makes the most sense to take say a 4 year deal on 200k now, rather than a 3 year deal (they'll both be 29) on 250k from another club in 19 months time. If they don't re-sign by summer it's possible 1 or both could be sold to City or United next summer. Selling either for big money at the age of 28, would also be an Arsenal thing to do.

And for all you who want them, well after 28/29 they might not be quite as good by then. Wasn't giving RVP and Rooney huge wages a good idea once upon a time?
