The Third Redcafe Sheep Draft

They wouldn't have to, as such.

They could simply call the circumstances exceptional and deem it unfair on the other manager, allowing him a R3 pick to replace his de facto sheep.
That would be the fairest scenario IMO.

But if someone misses the deadline, it'd be hard to prove it was done on purpose and punish them.

Yeah, but see above. The other guy wouldn't necessarily be any worse for the trick - so actually outsmarting anyone wouldn't be an option regardless.

CHILE-GATE: RESOLUTION
Right I've heard enough. The Sheep Committee has decided that:
  • Insufficient is a woolly definition open to interpretation. For the remainder of this round it has been clarified to mean 'no' remaining eligible players.
  • On that basis both Joga Bonito and Invictus/KM have to choose the remaining player, executing that second pick in Chile and scooting their way to the third round where it will be opened up to other countries.
Or as Joga helpfully put it in his PM last night:
If Figueroa is blocked, then there is just one alternative as per my research

xxxxxx xxxxxx (36 year old goalie in the 19xx WC)

Meaning, the second pick is then void as that is the only option that managers can go for, and the third pick is then open to other nations.

I hope that clarifies matters and apologise for any confusion caused.

@Joga Bonito
@Invictus
@KM

I wanted Figueroa even when I thought he'd block two rounds, but it actually makes a lot of sense not to have that happen. If you had the same case with three managers and two players it would lead to a minimum of two sheep. They should be free to pick from any country for their second pick (please not Italy).

All hail the evil committe! Although, would have been more fun if both teams "missed" the deadline and had to go goalie or sheep lel.

Decision accepted but me and invictus really interpreted the ruling as it was previously explained and thus chose him. It was a calculated risk.

Get it done tonight so we get next round criteria. Need my fix.

Hmm, if we have 2 players eligible and 3 managers to choose, if all 3 choose one and the same player, what happens in R3? They'll essentially have blocked one of the players and only have 1 left, which would be even more fecked up scenario...

I just hope none of the 'Pass'ed managers have taken Italian players. :nervous:

Unfortunately I think this is not the case and at least 1 player is definitely picked :nervous:

No, they all choose player 2 in round 2 and end up with a free pick in round 3.

I'm 90% sure it was my other choice. I won't be jealous.
It was essentially a choice of 2 in the end for me, I chose this one cause the alternative is IMO better than "your" alternative? ;)

No, they all choose player 2 in round 2 and end up with a free pick in round 3.
No, I mean you have for example Elías Figueroa, the other that was eligible, and say the midfielder entered the pitch and we have 3 Chilean at round 1 to pick from. Like above say we as well have picked Elias and Joga and KM/Invictus. Then for round 2 we have 2 players eligible but 3 managers. Afterwards we have all three managers picking either player A or player B, effectively blocking him. In this case in round 3 you will have 3 managers 1 player to choose from(eligible). Is it a void pick again or the pool will be opened?

Well, with the precedent now set, they'd all get sheep'ed. Unless two of them tried to "outsmart" the third one, but forgetting - sadly - that there were no more rounds.

I see, guess if player A is blocked and player B & C are both essentially sheeps, it'd be upto luck for the 3 managers to hope that one other chooses the same one as they do and the other chooses a different one.

Round 2: manager 1 (B), manager 2 (B), manager 3 (C) = manager 3 gets stuck with C, the other 2 gets a free choice in round 3.

Enjoying this draft a lot as a spectator. Gio being enough of an evil bastard which is always important

Yeah me too. It's just tonight I've had the chance to have a proper read through and I'm loving some of these criteria!
I'd be in bits trying to second guess everyone as a player though! I'd likely have 4 sheep already.

My excel sheet would probably have crashed the computer by this stage as well.

Yeah thought so as well. Makes sense.

That'd be quite something considering we've only had 2 full rounds. :lol:

Yeah i'd be in bits too. Deliberating whether to go big or play it fairly safe.

So far I've learned to just not overthink it. Easier said than done, mind.
