The solution to our striker problems?.......Robert Lewandowski

Rather steer clear of ex-Dortmund players personally. Maybe Reus the exception to that rule.

Because i dont like spending crap loads of our cash on players that arent good enough for our rivals?

That's far too black and white though, isn't it.

Sometimes players don't fit into their manager's system well, or fall out with their managers, or sleep with their team mate's wife, or don't like the country they've moved to.

It doesn't mean they can't be excellent for another team.

Fabregas is a Barcelona 'cast off' but he would be our best midfielder by some distance if we had signed him.

Fair point about Fabregas, but i dont think we should be basing our transfer strategy around who is out of favour at other clubs. We should be signing the Lewandovski's before they get to Bayern.

i'd rather we bought all our players on the transfer market, rather than dodgy knock off ones from the chinese market.

Oh hahahahahahaha ye are a funny bunch. (Used with a sarcastic tone)

Lewandowski would be brilliant. He's better than any of our strikers.

di Maria - Lewandowski - Nani
Mata
Blind - ?????

Oh baby.

I don't really believe it will happen, but Lewandowski and Dybala plus Rooney and Wilson with Depay, Di Maria, Mata, Januzaj and Herrera behind (not all at the same time obviously). If that doesn't give you your muppet bonder, I really don't know what will ;)

Rather we invested in a pacy young striker tbh. He's hasn't set the world alight, but is still quite clearly a classy striker and one of the best pure #9's at the top of his game, but someone like Lacazette or Dybala would interest me more.

Let's see...

Depay Wilson Lewandowski Dybala
Mata Januzaj
ADM Rooney Herrera

<--- Rojo --->
DDG

That'd totally work... :nervous:

As if Lewandowski would ever end up here LOL......Pep obviously prefers not to use strikers in certain games. I'd say Bayern have not even the slightest intention of selling him even if he has to settle for a bench role in certain games.....And I'd say the Bayenr asking price for him would be around the 70 million quid mark if they were to sell him. Tabloids just spouting tripe as usual and people are somehow finding truth in it

£70m for a player they got for free at the start of the season?

??????

80m for Pogba who we let go 2 seasons ago.....

Difference.

Pogba was relatively unknown outside of United, and Juventus have made him what if he by giving him the platform to perform.

Lewandowski has been at Bayern for 6 months and hasn't exactly set the world on fire.

Look at the likes of Di Maria, Robben, Van der Vaart, Sneijder, Sturridge, Coutinho, Sanchez, Toure etc. All of these players are examples of why buying cast-offs from big clubs is a good thing.

I'm not sure whether signing the likes of Lewandowski before he reaches Bayern is that much better than signing him after he has played there and failed. Buying a cast-off basically ensures that the player won't be looking to use you a stepping stone (this is the case especially when looking at the Spanish giant).

The english papers must have every single Bayern player as a "potential signing for United" covered by now. This is as unsubstantiated as it gets. He doesn't have the prolific goal record of seasons past at the moment, but he's still doing a good job. It's just that his roal has changed since coming here. He's more involved in the systematic breakdown of defenses by holding up play, passing, drifting wide to create space for others etc., hence his lower goal output. It's also not surprising that he's not playing each and every match, considering that since Ribery's return, we have our full range of offensive players and you can't play everyone when Robben, Ribery, Müller, Götze and Lewandowski are all available.

There's simply no reason to sell him.

Good as he is, not the kind of striker I want us to sign.
Pace?

If so, this whole we need loads of pace upfront thing is a bit overstated. It only really is a necessity for us if we're playing two uptop and hence have no pace out wide. Two wide players with pace and lewandowski upfront would be brilliant. Top top striker.

Yeah, buy another striker, that´s exactly what we need. Maybe we can relegate Rooney to defence too.

I'd love to see him at United even if classed somewhat a failure at Bayern this season. I just don't see them selling him for less than 50m if at all.
The guy in my opinion is built for the premier league, height, power and good on the ball. Also he may not be the paciest but he is quicker than RvP and Falcao (this season anyway). Scores 1 in 2 since going to Germany and also grabs a fair few assists. I really wish we bought him in 2012 when Sir Alex originally wanted him.

The players are not wank, their form is.

Falcao has suffered a very serious injury and looks anything but the player he was before.

RVP has had a succession of injuries over his career and only sporadic runs of (albeit very good) form and fitness.

There's no guarantee either will get back to where they were. Falcao won't be signed permanently and RVP won't get a new deal on this form. Taking that into account I'd be shocked if we don't bring in a forward.

So Van Gaal can play him in midfield or a wingback. No thanks.

I would be as happy with Lacazette or Dybala but we haven't been linked to them that often. Anyone see iit happening?

Ah the tabloids have nothing better to do than rehash old stories linking us with Lewandowski. They probably don't even realise that he moved in the summer.

He was my #1 pick for ST when SAF wanted to sell Rooney but I dont think we have a chance of poaching a starter from Bayern at this point, especially him.

I like Lewandowski, and I wanted him over van Persie back then. However, I think it'll become apparent that he's yet another Dortmund player who was flattered by their style and form of those two seasons when almost everything clicked. It wouldn't surprise me if he's not actually at Bayern in a couple years time.

I don't think he's a special as I did a few years back.

I know many will disagree but i don't rate Lewandowski that high. Can't dribble, doesn't have pace, his shooting is questionable (especially left leg).

He has been an enigma for me- don't think hes that good, yet he was a star man for Borussia and fitted quite ok in Bayern team.
