Gaming The SM RedCafe League

30 players in the 87+ club. Bentaleb my only realistic chance of another before the new season starts, though it looks like SM is screwing me in this review so he'll probably end up as 86.

If Jedvaj wasn't injured for some of last season he probably would be. 86 is fair given that Wendell is 87 and the better player for Leverkusen. Martial only scored 9 goals last season, if he was 87 it would be a joke. 86 is fair for now.

2013-14 season Marseille finished a paltry sixth in Ligue 1. A certain Florian Thauvin rose to 88 with these stats:

Four of the CL appearances were subs, all of his CL appearances his team lost in and they were knocked out in the group phase.

Competition summary:
League: 6th
Champions League: knocked out in group stage
Coupe de la Ligue: knocked out in quarter-finals
Coupe de France: knocked out in second round

2014-15 season Monaco finished a mighty third in Ligue 1. A certain Anthony Martial rose to just 86 despite having these superior stats to Thauvin:

He was a prominent fixture in the Champions League games, becoming Man of the Match as they beat Arsenal and he reached the quarter finals, being knocked out to the team that would be runner up in the final. No mean feat.

Competition summary:
League: 3rd (three places above Marseille the previous season)
Champions League: knocked out in quarter-finals (two stages after Thauvin was knocked out)
Coupe de la Ligue: knocked out in the semi-finals (one stage after Thauvin was knocked out)
Coupe de France: knocked out in the quarter-finals (two stages after Thauvin was knocked out)

Thauvin isn't a striker, so why are you comparing his stats with Martial? You really are becoming Damo Moyes.

Nice way to dodge the whole point. Besides, both players had spells on the wings and up front. Ultimately, Martial performed better and got bitchslapped because SM hate Monaco

In light of Rafael developing concern due to lack of games, Aston Villa manager, who prides in excellent man management, has decided to go full nerd (also known as going full RedSky) and created an excel spreadsheet tracking appearances of whole squad against available opportunities, % played, target expected and thus give R-Y-G status of player. This spreadsheet is going to be updated after every 5 games.

Good luck :D

Out of squad of 22 first team players:
G - 15
Y- 2
R - 5

Green: Player playing 10% or more games than % target games he is expected to play as per his rating and SM concern rules.
Yellow: Player playing inbetween +/- 10% games of % target games he is expected to play as per his rating and SM concern rules.
Red: Player playing less than - 10% games of % target games he is expected to play as per his rating and SM concern rules.

Games player missed because of injury, suspension and no. of matches not being at club since season started are excluded from total games consideration for each player.

Players in red: Lamela, Rafael, Rode, Toby, Shaqiri.
Rode, Toby and Shaqiri are recent additions to the squad and will get more game time as they assimilate Aston Villa philosophy and process.

Oh that! Where's the spreadsheet?

 Spreadsheet I made myself based on those rules. I didn't know the exact rules for concerns before. Was thinking about searching for it but kept forgetting.

They need to clear the rules up a bit more when it comes new seasons and player changes.

  • the highest rated players expect to play in approximately 85% of games;
  • players that would expect to be in your first choice line-up and those rated 90 or above, will expect to play in approximately 75% of games;
  • players that would expect to be a substitute if you selected your first choice line-up and those rated 89 or above, will expect to play in approximately 30-40% of games.
  • the rest of the players within your squad will only expect to play a few (if any) games.
So likes of Eriksen, Lacazette and below would be in the 30-40 category? and Silva, Zouma, Guerreiro would be on say 10%?

I considered 92 & above for 85%, 90-91 for 75%, 88-89 for 40%. Per their rules, 88 rated should be OK with even less than 40% games. So Rode will become green. But his morale is showing less than 90 so I included him in tracking similar to 89 rated players.

G - 13
Y - 7
R - 3

Reds are Özil who joined half way through the season and played every game so far so in reality there's no issue with him I think, Rodriguez who is one game off target but has been out for ages with injury, and Gomes who rose to 90 partway through season and messed things up. He's not far off target though...

From the Yellows nearly all are over target.

Injured games you can exclude. The rules page says players don't count games they missed because of injury in numbers of game they are expected to play in. I excluded suspension games as well though I didn't find it mentioned explicitly. A player has to be absolute cnut to count a game he misses with suspension in that!
I also have the rising to 90 midway thing with Toby and Morata. Once they hit 90 I started playing them more, so they should improve. Morata is on exact 75% but is playing all league games since hitting 90.
