There's a workaround which isn't great - takes three months and involves part exchanging:

The workaround isn't great but it is the only way around the transfer limitations that I've found.

Basically, let's say you're interested in Alban Lafont from QPR (£7M). You say you would like them, then an existing Gold manager like myself signs them for cash then when their transfer ban expires I part exchange with an existing player at your club of similar value of your choosing, so you get the player after three months but you lose one too.

I guess it is probably best used for if there's a good youth player available and you have one at your club that isn't doing so well, so you lose the 'flop' and gain a decent one.

None of the non-Golds have opted for that yet, but I think when the Darlington draft starts there'll be a few players that could tempt some to use the workaround.
