Gaming The SM RedCafe League

After Thursday's league game, we'll be having a vote on proposals people bring forward so if you have any suggestions for rule changes/stuff to discuss, message me or post here and we'll have the debates/votes on Friday.

Inspired by a manager in the league suggesting we ban loans entirely so if your proposal is to do with banning loans altogether then we've got that covered (don't react to the proposal yet, there'll be time to do that).

No attacking another manager by swearing / hurling abuse at them because they don't get their way. If people have a problem take it to PM' s or swallow it as being a game.

Good one. Can't imagine who that is directed to.

That is the only way I believe the admins would listen to a complaint and kick someone if they are being abusive.

Just got very silly and boring and to one person who thinks it's a laugh was just a bit stupid really. Ends up people blocking and what's the point in playing if you have to block people. *Shrugs*

Unfortunately the SM admins are useless. We can try to enforce our own rules but gameworld owners have virtually no powers to speak of.

Stuff to be decided tomorrow:

Division 1 winners (we know it'll be Stain)
Contenders: Everton (78 pts, +36 GD), Darlington (75 pts, +30 GD)
Relevant fixtures:
(2nd) Darlington v Southend United (17th)
(1st) Everton v Norwich City (20th)

For Darlington to win, they'd have to hope that an already relegated Norwich City somehow beat Everton who have only lost one game at home all season, Darlington would have to beat a plucky Southend side hoping to avoid relegation and overturn a goal difference deficit of 6.

Top four are already decided: Everton, Darlington, Sunderland and Manchester United. Spurs could also qualify for the Champions Cup if they beat United next week.

SMFA Shield competitors
5-12th placed teams compete in the SMFA Shield the following season. If one of those teams wins the Champions Cup that season then 13th qualifies instead.

Contenders (for 2 places): Wolverhampton Wanderers (47 pts, -2 GD), Southampton (47 pts, -2 GD), Plymouth Argyle (45 pts, -10 GD)
Relevant fixtures:
(13th) Plymouth Argyle v Wolverhampton Wanderers (11th)
(12th) Southampton v Manchester City (8th)

If Plymouth fail to beat Wolves, then the other two teams qualify. If Plymouth beat Wolves then whoever has done the best out of Southampton and Wolves qualifies with Plymouth.

SMFA Shield competitors already decided: Barnsley, Fulham, Nottingham Forest, Manchester City, Arsenal

Relegation battle
Norwich City were relegated weeks ago but four teams are in contention for the other two spots.

Contenders (for 2 places): Bournemouth (39 pts, -14 GD), Southend United (38 pts, -17 GD), Newcastle United (37 pts, -18 GD), Aston Villa (36 pts, -12 GD)
Relevant fixtures:
(2nd) Darlington v Southend United (17th)
(10th) Liverpool v Aston Villa (19th)
(18th) Newcastle United v Arsenal (9th)
(3rd) Sunderland v Bournemouth (16th)

Exciting stuff. Newcastle is the only side to play at home but they actually have a better away record than home record this season. This could go any way but Southend and Bournemouth have the hardest fixtures on paper.

Relegated teams already decided: Norwich City

Division 2 winners
Contenders: Reading (76 pts, +29 GD), Hereford (74 pts, +23 GD)
Relevant fixtures:
(1st) Reading v Brighton and Hove Albion (15th)
(2nd) Hereford v Bury (5th)

This is pretty much sewn up. Reading face an unmanaged side and only need a draw to secure the title.

Automatic promotion
Reading has got one place secured but the other is still up for grabs.

Contenders: Hereford (74 pts, +23 GD), Blackburn Rovers (72 pts, +32 GD), Milton Keynes Dons (72 pts, +20 GD)
Relevant fixtures:
(2nd) Hereford v Bury (5th)
(3rd) Milton Keynes Dons v Blackburn Rovers (4th)

Couldn't make it up that 2nd-5th play each other in the final game of the season with a lot on the line. If Hereford win, they are promoted. If they draw and MK Dons win then Hereford are still promoted. If Blackburn Rovers wins and Hereford draws or loses then Blackburn Rovers are promoted and finally if MK Dons win and Hereford loses then MK Dons are promoted. MK Dons are also promoted if they win by a four or greater goal margin and Hereford draw.

Promoted teams already decided: Reading

Play-off places
There is one place up for grabs.

Contenders: West Ham United (69 pts, +25 GD), Cardiff City (66 pts, +23 GD)
Relevant fixtures:
(14th) Ipswich Town v Cardiff City (7th)
(6th) West Ham United v Huddersfield Town (19th)

All West Ham needs is an equal or better result to Cardiff City and they're through. West Ham face an unmanaged side while Cardiff face a managed side so West Ham are clear favourites.

Play-off teams already decided: Bury and two of: Hereford, Blackburn Rovers and Milton Keynes Dons.

Division 3 winners/automatic promotion
Mansfield are the only managed side in contention, however they're on 86 points and three unmanaged sides are on 84.

Contenders: Mansfield Town (86 pts, +46 GD), Crystal Palace (84 pts, +54 GD), Watford (84 pts, +47 GD), Swansea City (84 pts, +44 GD)
Relevant fixtures:
(2nd) Crystal Palace v Preston North End (11th)
(1st) Mansfield Town v Watford (3rd)
(5th) Stoke City v Swansea City (4th)

Simply put, Mansfield need to win to secure promotion. A draw would be enough if either Palace or Swansea falter while defeat would be disastrous.

Play-off places
Bolton are the only managed team in contention and it is either them or Hull who will join the above sides.

Contenders: Bolton Wanderers (75 pts, +47 GD), Hull City (75 pts, +27 GD)
Relevant fixtures:
(6th) Bolton Wanderers v Millwall (12th)
(7th) Hull City v Charlton Athletic (13th)

They need to equal or better Hull's result against Charlton.

Good luck to all teams with something to fight for tomorrow

My C team only lost 1:0 to Spurs - and the goal they scored was from a set piece.

De Gea (95)

Roberto (91) Stones (90) Sarr (85) Gaya (90)
Retsos (87) Merino (86)
Mina (89) Martial (90) Brandt (90)
Vinicius Jr (83)

Subs: Pereira (82), Djerlek (77), Mavropanos (82), Lyanco (82), Callegari (75), Brahim (80), Salcedo (73)
Suspended: Isco (93), Goretzka (91)
Did not travel: Kroos (95), Griezmann (95), Boateng (94), Alaba (93), Pogba (93), Eriksen (93), Kimmich (92), Dele (92), Sterling (92), Mbappe (92)

Final game:
CCF: Tottenham Hotspur (N)

Title race ended on a crap note with Norwich playing a second string side but both Darlington and Sunderland had a slump of form while Everton's acquisition of Neymar made the title a formality.

Congrats to:
  • Everton on winning the title
  • Darlington and Sunderland on finishing in top 4
  • Barnsley, Fulham, Forest, City, Arsenal, Wolves, Liverpool and Southampton for qualifying for Europe
  • Reading for winning Division 2
  • Hereford for getting automatic promotion
  • MK Dons, Blackburn, West Ham and Bury finishing in play-offs - good luck
  • Mansfield Town on winning Division 3
  • Bolton Wanderers for finishing in Division 3 play-offs - good luck
Commiserations to:
  • Newcastle United, Southend and Norwich on being relegated from Division 1 - I'm sure you'll all bounce back
  • Leeds on being relegated from Division 2 (happened before new manager took over really)
SJPyc4M.png
and so, following the relegation of Newcastle, for Season 17 there'll only be 7 original Division 1 teams who have never been relegated.

Pretty pleased to be the only club not to have finished a season in the bottom half - especially after last season's disaster.

2 red cards in the final game and still not going down doesn't deserve congrats? Pfiff.

After being 11-12 points behind the leader one point, Everton finish the season with 12 straight wins to become champions!

A special thanks to Man Utd manager, @Damien, for beating Darlington twice. Couldn't have done it with you, buddy.

After 2 wins (Albeit not to difficult opposition) from my first 2 games in charge, I want to attempt the near impossible, and achieve promotion in my first season. I've played this game many years ago and have had more difficult challenges before. So here is to the new season, I can't wait until it starts.

Targets for next season:
  1. Top 6
  2. Promotion into Div 1
  3. Sign a striker 91+
  4. Lose less than 7 games at home.

So here are the two proposals. There are 37 managers in the league so vote below/on SM:

  1. Ban all loans entirely. (Yes/No)
It’s extremely tough being in this world if you’re a relatively new manager. You have to look for gems on the transfer market which are rare. Makes it so hard to search for players when loads are on loan. It’s not a fair system either. I like the challenge of the world but not sure it’s worth the time if loans continue. Makes searching for potential new players take soooo much longer.
    ---
Yeah I don’t mind searching for talent but when looking for players you have to click on them to see if they are loaned or not takes way way too long. I think loans should be banned to help clubs see who is available in the game.
  2. No attacking another manager by swearing / hurling abuse at them because they don't get their way. If people have a problem take it to PM' s or swallow it as being a game. (Agree/Disagree)
