The Seven Leading Candidates To Be Old Trafford's Next Number 7 /From Goal.com/

Nani, Park & Giggs are adequate options on the left. All offer different things. I wouldn't mind seeing Joe Cole for free, but otherwise I don't think its our problem position at all.

I'd like to see James Milner come in, personally. We also need to decide if Berbatov is worth another season.

Excellent. Don't listen to Ekeke's views on it. He has a personal bias towards the lad.

Surely then I'd be bigging him up?

All I can say is I've watched him each week for the past 2 and a half seasons, missing a few europa league/uefa cup matches but none of his Spain matches. I probably know a thing or two about what the player is and what the player isnt.

Good list but, also as others have pointed out - there is Tosic who is doing okay at Koln and Obertan still (though may have gone backwards in development from certain things I've read on his performances). Lastly - Cleverly who is doing quite well for Watford.

On top of all that you've got a more and more confident Nani who is as good with both feet as any of the names mentioned if not better.

I think the biggest goal for the summer may be dependent on our curly hair pin up boy - Hargreaves. If he isn't going to be an option for us going into the season, then we need a back up to Fletcher.

Di Maria would leave us after one or two good seasons to join Barcelona or Madrid.

What kind of theories do you have to claim something like that? Cristiano Ronaldo is the only player that has left us that way, you really cant throw everyone under one boat. Tevez and Heinze left only more or less after they were knocked of the team, and Veron wanted to stay and left against his will - it is really just a biased statement that has no root in reality whatsoever.

Tevez and Heinze was good riddances, they had bad attitudes, to my knowledge, neither of them bothered to learn English.. Selling Veron might have been a mistake. Look at it on the bright side; every single Argentinian that has joined United has contributed to win the league!

If Im not mistaken, he's talking about a statement that Di Maria made that he would like to play for those clubs.

Its a shame we missed out on City's Adam Johnson. Cant believe he went to City for only £7m, but I can guess he went there because of the money :nono:

With players making the jump up from a lower league, you dont really expect much of them initially, but from what i've seen - I reckon that lad is gonna be a great player :(

I've a sneaky feeling he'll be goin to the World Cup too, only if he can show more glimpses of his talent from now til the end of the season. That late goal he scored the other week against Sunderland on 91.30 mins from the corner of the D, when the only place he could of put it was in the top furthermost corner as there were many men on the line, was something very special.

Reminded me of Bestie's goal - i think against Spurs where he lobbed a few players on the line!

People makes quotes like that all the time, that does not mean that he will not honor his contract when he signs, one cannot know that.. it is only a assumption. That cannot stop us from signing the best options at the positions we need. Angel di Maria is among the best young natural left wingers in the world, and that is probably our weakest position at the moment...

Real Madrid will always target our players. They want to be the "Galacticos" and that means having the biggest players in Europe, and as we are the top club, they will always want our stars.

To be honest I'd rather see Nani develop than buy any of those players. Him and Valencia on each side has provided us with nice balance of late, and If he keeps up his good form I don't find it necessary that we buy any of those players mentioned.
The natural leftfootedness of Giggs down the flank simply has to be replaced. I love Nani but he doesn't provide us that.

Surely then I'd be bigging him up?
You wish. You have never liked Silva in any shape or form. It shows in the majority of your posts. My misuse of words in that post wont change that.

Sure. You know so much that such knowledge lead you to the conclusion he is best used like a Berbatov.

Whilst Spain were busy qualifying for and wining a Euro Nations cup with him on the flank.

Stevan Jovetic. He can play as a left winger or second striker. Plus, that hair...

He is every bit as good a player as Antonio Valencia. Possibly even superior.

I'd say he is very superior. Obviously Valencia is a better out and out winger but when you take into consideration the other elements that Silva has it isn't even debatable.

Whilst Silva could do a very good job in a wide area (not as good as Valencia) he can also slot into the middle, behind the striker and on either side.

Personally i've watched plenty enough of David Silva to know why people rate him so highly, i rate him very highly. He's a player with great awareness, touch and technique. A wonderful eye for a pass and he can pop up with goals too.

The one thing i worry about is his physicality and how he would get by in the Premiership. He picks up injuries and might struggle to adapt.

He hasnt done that bad for his physicality, so i'd say Silva would do just fine man!

I agree, have follwed Johnson in his time at borough, and was actually surprised that we didn't make a move.

Could potentially be City's best signing over time.

More like your unexplainable love for him prevents you from seeing I was being objective about him from the very start. I dont know him, I have no idea what he's like off the pitch, I have no reason to have a bias against him. Thats why I dont have a bias against him.

He was one of 11 players playing for Spain.

What says the most is the fact that multiple club managers have decided he's best used in behind a striker. Its pretty obvious to anyone who actually watched him game after game, that his skillset suits playing in the middle of the park. Of course you dont bother.

Valencia will get the number 7 shirt after Owen.

Even if Owen stays, I think it should to to AV next season. I think Owen will great to continue to have available but, #7 should be a player that is on the pitch most of the time.

Don't think it will happen though - so once Owen does leave, I'd definitely be all for AV taking over the #7 shirt.

I hope one day to see Hargreaves and Valencia in the middle, it'd be one of the paciest centre midfield pairings ever and also give Nani the right wing.

We probably don`t need any of the players being mentioned. Maybe buying someone like Gudjohson for a cheap enough fee is better than spending a fortune on Villa seem as Rooney is so effective up front on his own in Europe.
Rodwell, A keeper and maybe Gudjohnson would be a nice summer for me!

Why? It is just a number at the end of the day and has nothing to do with how a player performs.

why should be move our best crosser to central midfield and push our best central midfielder (fletch) out of the team?

Excellent. Don't listen to Ekeke's views on it. He has a personal bias against the lad.

the way we sometimes allow our left winger to cut in, like giggs/park seems to be made for silva though we would obviously lose the defensive qualities park brings and even giggs. However it would allow us to play both nani/valencia or if we had two strikers silva could still dribble along the touchline.

Have to agree with you on Ekeke, seems to write him off too easily.

I've got an idea. There's this lad called Nani, who has actually really done the business for the last three months.

Robben is 26? I thought he was at least pension age.

It's only a number.

That article is basically just some muppet writing up his wish list.

If there was any position I'd contemplate relocating Valencia to it would RB. He'd be world class at that position. I think him and Nani combining down the right flank would be mouthwatering.

id take Joe Cole on a free. Anyone remember this? I fecking do!

It was an absolutely stunning goal, but it was 4 years ago, I don't think he has scored a goal near that quality since.
