The Second RedCafe Sheep Draft

My predictions were something like this.
- Red on who'll be blocked
- Blue on who'll have more steal hits.

I've excluded myself.

Safe Managers:

Annahnomoss
- Guardiola, Garrincha, Landa, DaMarcus Beasley, van der Sar, Lizarazu
Harms - Hidegkuti, Passarella, Perez, Alonso, Kaltz, Weiner
NoPace - Liedholm, K. H. Förster, Hugo Sanchez, Chumpitaz, Preud'homme, Rummenigge
Stobzilla - Stankovic, Ince, Tioté, M. Laudrup, Kahn, Blanc

In Line of Fire:

KPS88 - Dino Zoff, Del Piero, Bergomi, Cannavaro, Papin, Carboni
NM - Puskas, Platini, Tardelli, Pirlo, Ferrara, Zanetti
MJJ - Hitzfeld, R. Carlos, Eboue, Xavi, Nesta, Iuliano
MDFC Manager - Shankly, Seaman, Veron, Vieira, van Basten, Reuter
Raees - Busby, Batistuta, A. Cole, Schweinsteiger, Breitner, Gerets
Joga Bonito - Batteaux, Hierro, Effenberg, Kohler, Littbarski, Schuster
VivaJanuzaj - Ancelotti, Ferdinand, Kenwyne Jones, Figo, Nedved, Peruzzi
BorisDeLaFora - Guttman, Cafu, Lucio, Shevchenko, Stoijkovic, Völler
Cutch - Lobanovskiy, Nilton Santos, Bozsik, B. Charlton, Hamrin, Gento
Sajeev - Capello, Seedorf, Davids, R. Marquez, Henry, Canizares
Kazi - Stein, Scirea, Boniek, Cech, Klinsmann, Hagi

I think you need 4 colours minimum

Blocked
Player being traded away and potentially blocked
Players likely to receive most attention and therefore blocked
Players who are safe enough to get hit - won't be traded away but are still attractive

I know but I can't predict if that swap will be successful or not. Changed the wording to potentially.

Either way my predictions are that the following players are likely to have been successfully traded:

Liedholm, Bergomi, Guardiola, Hidegkuti, Lucio, Hagi, Seedorf, Bozsik, Ferdinand, Effenberg, Tardelli, Cannavaro, Viera

This round is shit and will almost certainly mess up my Italian theme :(

The only guys you can be positive about are Ancelotti and Landa. Two of you have them in your squads right now.

Will be funny if sajeev ends up sporting Ancelotti and Capello in midfield

I have got Landa in my more detailed colour coded list - post it when i get home. Didn't predict Ancelotti though, thought he'd get rid of Peruzzi - always liked abit of Ancelotti in midfield, neat and tidy.. partnered with other great players he's a solid pick at the highest level.

Players put up for sale

Blanc, R. Carlos, Seaman, Shevchenko, Landa, Perez, Papin, Ferrera, Littbarski, Hamrin, Canizarez, Cech, Preud'homme.

I'm not sure how NoPace is a "safe manager". If you are in need of a center back, he has two of the highest quality, and Liedholm is a very good bet also.

I would expect Viva to block Nedved at risk of loosing Figo here - he is a better player draft-wise. Not sure about Cutch - he has too many fantastic players, but yeah, I thought that he would block Charlton too.

If Carlos was available in the first round I might quit, then cry for a bit.
He most certainly traded him and not Xavi (Nesta is out of the question). Maybe you are lucky and you just don't know it yet?

I was assuming he would have either been traded or someone else would have also gone in for him, so I left it.

However, the more I look at it, I don't think anyone would have considered who I picked, and probably should have taken more of a risk.

Oh well.

BTW do we get sheep at the end of this round as well? For some reason I thought this wasn't the case and kept going with risky picks.

Sheep is a player that fits the criteria. The criteria is a player that was already picked by another manager. Ergo, no.

No. Each team will still have 6 players at the end of this round.

Shevchenko, seriously? Sheva and Cafu are hands down top 2 players in his team. I had one or other as a block.

Shevchenko's time in England.. makes him a risk in a draft involving mostly english voters, well that was my perception of it.. obviously prime Shevchenko's reputation was fearsome.

You're probably right, Stoijkovic, Lucio, Voller.. don't know they all seem solid enough players to me.

I took him to play with Platini mate. It was either him or Bozsik.
I thought that you might have a look at Bozsik, considering Puskas upfront, but then I thought - Platini, Pirlo AND Bozsik? You were seriously considering him?

As anto mentions, it probably is Voller. Don't think Stoijkovic has been picked in a draft I played before and I had no joy when I picked Lucio before. They would be my choice for trades.

I really rate Stoijkovic.. once saw a video of him tearing Rijkaard apart and making him look silly. One of the greats in terms of sheer talent and Voller is proven at the highest level both at club and international level. Lucio is way too underrated for me, smashed it at club and international level and a charismatic presence.. I don't get why he's seen as a Luiz type defender, he was a rock.

He's been involved in at least two, if not three of the more recent ones. I picked him myself for...I forget which. And someone who went for a Red Star theme picked him on another occasion. Great player in my opinion, but probably not the easiest sell.

Maybe I got him for Pirlo? Who knows?

I'm jsut messing with people.

I had Stoijkovic and Savecevic in the Nations draft which started my slight obsession with Eastern Europe footballers from the days of yay yonder.

Probably because of his propensity for driving forward - at times. It's a ridiculous comparison, though, if anyone is actually making it. Unlike Luiz, Lucio was a bloody good defender - which sort of makes the whole difference.

Luiz is a little kid having fun on his playstation trying to be a hero, Lucio was just a hard nosed winner... he'd pile forward not for fun but because he genuinely thought he could make a difference and he could definitely defend. A very complete centre back in my opinion. That period between 2001-2003.. top notch and then to reinvent himself for Inter too.. quality.
