The Second RedCafe Sheep Draft

You are offering Breitner?

You still have him? ;)

It doesn't really apply to any of your other players IMO unless you mean Schweini as RW, which I wouldn't consider legit myself.

No I wasn't referring to any of my players ;) .. just a general query and yes I agree with you in regards to Piggy.

The positions in a swap didn't have to be exactly the same. It would have made this round impossible to work. So you could trade away for example a leftback for a midfielder in case the other team didn't already have a leftback.

No one should expect that you can easily build a team in a non-flexible set-up from start to finish in this draft without Skizzo throwing a few obstacles in your way and it's still early enough in the draft to adjust the team accordingly to what you have after this round.

Or to use the Schweinsteiger example, you could have traded him for a winger if the other team didn't already have a well working finished midfield. It's important that the other team can play Schweinsteiger in his best position, not that the player you take off the other team is playing the exact the same position.

So what's holding up the results?
Joga is missing. Well and now Skizzo is asleep and I won't take the fun of revealing the results away from him. So until he wakes up again, nothing will happen anyway, even if Joga submits his picks in the next minute.

Yeah, the point I made earlier on straight swaps was that this was the only way to make sure it was successful without knowing what the current status was for the other team (e.g. in your LB example, the team may have picked a leftback, blocking your attempt, while if you offered a midfielder for the midfielder the number of midfielders in the other team doesn't change).

Am I the only person calm about this whole thing?

Maybe it's because I don't have any stand out players worth taking, though. :nervous:

Me too. I lost hope of building the perfect team from the scrath after sajeev blocked Eusebio and Seeler.

Waiting is boring though.

Aye, when I ran through the teams to define who may target what, the only line of comment next to you was "no one will bother". You have some good players but most of them wouldn't be much of an upgrade on non-sheep sent your way, the managers picked those players deliberately after all...

There was of course the very obvious danger of Annah getting to the third round still needing to offload Landa, but he is out, so you should be safe.

I know the feeling mate :(

I was so excited about those two, couldn't care less who got them, but they had to be on show. What a partnership that would be

Can you send the list to me? Now that I'm done with it I'm really wondering what did you guess

It was nothing spectacular as I was just trying to guess who some players had picked.

If I were playing it would be a full-blown excel with several columns:
  • Roster
  • Likely blocked
  • Vulnerable
  • Players to get shot of
  • Positions wanted
  • Positions blocked
Even after a lot of bolding and colour-coding you would only have half a clue what was going on though. It helps you define the obvious, rule things out of scope, and see where the game is. Untangling that core is pure guesswork though.

Wow, you're way better than me in this game

Really sorry guys. Had a personal emergency to deal with unfortunately. If my pick is rejected for crosiing the deadline, that's fine too and I'll be OK with it.

There was no deadline mate. Hope all is well with you.

If you need any ongoing help just let me know.

There was no deadline. Hope that everything is okay now.

Edit: ffs, anto! Almost word for word

Yeah it would be nice if some of these rounds finish faster esp ones like these and the 100 caps one which barely require any research. Don't want to hurry anyone but I wouldn't mind certain rounds finishing faster just to speed it up a wee bit.

Knew I was jinxing myself...

If you could find the right striker, spine is completed.
Overrated? Effenburg/Schuster/Kohler ?

It was just a tongue in cheek comment mate. I love my players, provided I still have em :nervous:

Perfect revenge on Skizzo would be to unveil the results without him. It just hit me that Skizzo's name is well Skizzo :nervous:

If we want to mess with Skizzo, we can just reveal the names of who we got and who we traded, but it wouldn't be fair to him tbh. Let him do the reveal.

Yeah that would be a dick move! He's been so happy with this round so far it'd be like taking a banana from a monkey.

No my friend. I'm sure most people attacked 2nd/3rd choice players unlikley to be protected. I know who I got, and I wasn't concerned about him being protected - only blocked.

Would make sense. The blue ones are indeed - mostly - the obvious targets given the obvious blocks (so to speak). Which means you don't go for them (because they're obvious). What you go for is a player who suits your style better (even just slightly better) than X - and presto.

However, many will think (not unreasonably) that you've got little to lose by going for a bigger fish on your first attempt (and your second, for that matter), just shooting a bit in the dark, and who knows - some of those shots may have hit the target.
