The Redcafe Top 100 movies: Discussion and Preparation

Blame Mehro, he drew up the list.

After the 30 mins, the story was basically that of any Hollywood action movie. And dialogues were some of the most cliched one you will ever find in a war movie, cringeworthy IMO. Nothing do with Tom Hanks for me, in fact I like him as an actor. I thought the Thin red line which released in the same year was better than SPR.

I agree. It was awful, very cliched and two dimensional. The drone like German soldiers did it for me.

bump.

Can someone sticky this for a couple of weeks? Just to make sure people know it's still ON, baby.

I've PMed cicn twice but he hasn't replied and Melb red is on a tour across Europe so I don't think those two are doing this. We have 17-18 people who are still showing interest though so that's pretty good.

What's happened to Cinc? He posts in the other forums, but not in here anymore.

I hope he's not been banned by his missus.

I'll probably include almost all of M.N.Shyamalan's movies in my list.

that would be great, can't wait

Thin Red Line was boring as feck

Finished. I have my list ready. There's at least 1 surprising entry. Probably a few notable omissions. I'm still not sure of my top 10 but I doubt I'll make any changes.

I'll send out a PM to everyone to remind them that that list is due by the 31st.

Thanks for the PM Mehro, I had totally forgotten about this.

I'll start on my list right now.

Movies that I for now know will make my list are Taxi Driver, Scarface, Godfather 1&2, Time of the gypsies, Casablanca, The Third Man and Once Upon A time in America.

One question, should we include films that we don't like but put them in our lists anyway because those movies had great influence?

I think that's being left to each person's intepretation, ILBB...I would simply include what you like....and going from the few you mention here I would say you have picked some real winners!

I suspect spoony's list will be full of b/w classics from the early 20s, french new wave films, asian weird films and a bunch of films no one's ever heard of.

hehe
