Great showing by The Cat and Minnesota to get to their 3rd straight Conference Final, but this time the Lakers were too strong.

Upset in the East! It's not going to be a 3rd season in a row for Chicago in the finals, instead we'll have altodevil's Los Angeles Lakers against the Washington Wizards (with rookie Kevin Durant who is poised to overtake all of you).

dAhxOEI.png

Might be last chance for sneaky 2nd ring before Durant dominates.

Then again, if we win, he'll just join my team.

1 more season in purgatory then maybe I can join a team that has some ratings higher than 5/100

@altodevil's first appearance in the NBA Final since 2003, when he won it with the Sacramento Kings. It's the Los Angeles Lakers' first final appearance since 1988, fully 20 years ago.

One massive boon for the Lakers in the run-up to the final:

Awards

BenitoSTARR is the MVP again, while altodevil wins Defensive Player of the Year and reelworld is the 6th Man of the Year. altodevil won both Finals and Semifinals MVP.

Cafites are still dominating the awards teams, but that might change in the next few years as younger players like Kevin Durant take over. Ironically some of you may really benefit from no longer being by far the best players on your teams. You might actually win something (FAO: hobbers).

Salt Bailly and oneniltothearsenal make the Defensive 3rd Team, with BenitoSTARR on the 2nd and hobbers and altodevil leading the 1st. In All-League we've got Samid and oneniltothearsenal on the 3rd Team, Solius on the 2nd and P-Nut, altodevil, hobbers and BenitoSTARR on the 1st.

Season stats (only regular season this time, since the playoff stats are already in the playoff updates)

Observations
  • V.O. is the only one who played all 82 games this season
  • Dr. Dwayne, P-Nut and Samid have (well) over 90% free throw shooting.
  • reelworld had the fewest turnovers per game
  • altodevil is the only one with >60% shooting. He also takes by far the fewest shots.
  • The Cat has by far the highest 3-point shooting % at 49.1%.

Out with the old, in with the new

Reminder: You can retire the following season if you're below 60 rating and want to start over again (with either the same or new build). Above 60 you've got every chance of being a starter for a championship team, so I won't let you off the hook no matter how much you hate Charlotte.

And of course I can still add anyone else who wants to join. Just be aware that you might get stuck in Charlotte. Or you might win 3 rings. Anything is possible.

Next: Draft and Free Transfer Window

27 rebounds per game in the Finals. Filth. Just absolute filth.

Cant wait to improve in rating again and then sign a 5 year contract extension.

Single handedly won that game against the clippers. Over 50% of points and a game winning 3 at the end.

Dragging this side kicking and screaming to the playoffs

2008 Draft and Free Agency
2008 Draft and Free Agency Window

Draft
  1. Eric Gordon (GF 58/78) to Golden State Warriors
  2. Russel Westbrook (PG 57/75) to Boston Celtics
  3. Mario Chalmers (PG 59/70) to Minnesota Timberwolves
  4. Michael Beasley (F 52/73) to Los Angeles Clippers
  5. Anthony Randolph (FC 49/72) to Sacramento Kings
  6. Ryan Anderson (FC 51/70) to New Orleans Hornets
  7. O.J. Mayo (SG 58/71) to Miami Heat
  8. Rudy Fernandez (SG 60/69) to Indiana Pacers
  9. Derrick Rose (PG 55/71) to Cleveland Cavaliers
  10. Marc Gasol (C 57/66) to Utah Jazz

Free Agency

(This is a good example of how you might be more successful as older players. You're all getting cheaper even when you're not getting worse. Old people are gross.)

@The Cat has signed a new contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves for $4.88M/yr through 2012
@Salt Bailly has re-signed with the Detroit Pistons for $7.06M/yr through 2013
@Dan has re-signed with the Milwaukee Bucks for $5.64M/yr through 2013
@oneniltothearsenal has left the Miami Heat to sign with the Phoenix Suns for $14.1M/yr through 2013

@Dr. Dwayne has moved to Utah, and it's pretty clear Indiana aren't exactly in win-now mode anymore.

Don't understand that trade for the Lakers. Why break up the core? Martell was an excellent teammate in the locker room.

People talking about wasting their primes don't know how good they have it.

We might be on the up again.

Just wondering though as a 3 point machine how come I never get invited to the 3 point thingy?

Not that it matters.

A decent mix of East and West, good and bad from the Cafites. There's one team that stands out from the rest, though. Can anyone stop the Lakers?
