Gaming The RedCafe General/Random Gaming Chat Thread

Completed Journey a couple of days back.
Playing alongside another user it ended up being one of my most enjoyable, memorable gaming experiences.

Acitivision-Blizzard just laid off 800 people. Their reason?

Meanwhile, in a press release to investors this afternoon, Activision CEO Bobby Kotick wrote: “While our financial results for 2018 were the best in our history, we didn’t realize our full potential. To help us reach our full potential, we have made a number of important leadership changes. These changes should enable us to achieve the many opportunities our industry affords us, especially with our powerful owned franchises, our strong commercial capabilities, our direct digital connections to hundreds of millions of players, and our extraordinarily talented employees.”

Talk about cnut-ish greed.

The disease of pursuing eternal growth. "Realize our full potential". Just feck off. Activision, together with EA, are the absolute worst of the gaming industry.

Kotick took home only £30m last year. A far cry from 2013 where he was raking in £60m a year for himself.

They're mostly laying off customer support staff & eSports employees from what I can gather. They also fired WoW's most active Community Manager (CM), after stating numerous times over the past few years that they're hearing the fans desperate pleas for better communication & will do better to live up to their expectations.

Decided to start Witcher 3 I've had it for ages but not got round to it.

Going to read the wiki for a bit of backstory first.

Halo 2 was very good too. Probably not as good as the first game, but still very good, and had a heavier story.

The last time they made a step forward was Mass Effect 2 or so.

I was thinking Apex Legends though I'll concede most of the credit for that one should go to Respawn as they thought it would be best if they just released the game than have a press camaign go tits up due to association with EA.

I like how it's cool to just not like games these days and just moan about games that don't appeal to you. It's fun.

Oh dear. This seems like the gaming equivalent of when Warner Bros saw what Marvel were doing with the Avengers and said "we need to do that and as quickly as possible to make all the money", and made a right feck up of it.

Just swap Warner Bros with EA and Marvel & the Avengers with Activision and Destiny.

After ME:Andromeda and now Anthem not setting the world alight, almost time for this years old comic to come to fruition...

Have just discovered that Omar Waheed, the most famous Egyptian reviewed who worked for IGN previously, has opened an English channel. Not sure if this will end up as a good step though as he's taking such decision at a point all other channels have established themselves. Also his English voice seems a bit monotonous for me, unlike his Arabic one.

Anyone here recommend Ace Combat for the PS4 ?
Its looks pretty fun and the price seems to be quite reasonable (I never pay for release-prices for games now.)

I'm so desperate for a new game to play but I can't find anything decent at the moment. I downloaded Prey a couple weeks ago but got bored after about 2 days.

Just been playing Rocket League over and over with the occasional Fifa match and Hitman level while I wait out this Canadian winter.

Is Persona 5 worth it? I don't play many RPGs but I do like them. It looks like some weird anime tentacle porn shit though.

Endure the start of Prey. It turns pretty good later on.

What platform? If you're on PC, give Dota Auto Chess a go.

I gave up maybe 7 or 8 hours in. I did try, it just never properly grabbed me.

Hmm shame. It's definitely not a shooter though. Shooting mechanics isn't it's strong element. Exploration and creativity in passing obstacles is. Maybe it's just not your game.

Trials Rising is pretty decent.

I had the same issue. On paper I should like it, as I generally enjoy similar games and I'm a huge fan of horror and sci-fi. But I found it incredibly boring. Nothing really happened during hours of playing, the atmosphere didn't do it for me and it moved at a snail's pace. It was a massive disappoint for me.

Watched a demo of Quake2 with Ray Tracing, and it didn't exactly blow my mind.

What is the fuss all about with RT?
