@b82REZ have you played a game called Darkest Dungeon? Looks the sort of game you might have played. Have picked it up on the sale for £4.50. Looks like a good game. Got Bloodstained too…..

Yeah. It's really good. For me personally Slay the Spire is the OG in that genre though.

Bloodstained is good, but it's not a patch on Hollow Knight. The Iga-vania games are a bit marmite for me.

What's everyone playing for Christmas? Got Hades on xmas day and might treat myself to a racing game or something light-hearted on the PS store; i'm also playing Dark Souls 3 again and probably need a bit of a less intense game to balance that and Hades.

Jedi Fallen Order any good? Not played a Star Wars game since I was a kid…..
Not really. If you are a star wars fan and want that experience then go for it. If you want a Soulsborne then it's not up to scruff.

Gonna start Myst on my Oculus later.

As an aside do we know when the Witcher 3 is getting its PS5 update? I have the GOTY edition but have never played it, holding off doing so until the upgrade comes.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted Remaster for £6.99 is the best deal on the store.

Game holds up really well and it's the closest Criterion ever got to recreating the magic of Burnout 3.

NFSU1&2 are the only NFS worth anything.

It's amazing how they've gone through so many reiterations and never captured an ounce of the magic those games had.

How do you guys rate
Dishonored 2
Salt and Sanctuary
Death's door
Wolfenstein 1 and 2

Ideally I want a game to sink myself into. Not a lot of good options on discount really. Would prefer a game with exploration etc over the above.

I tried salt and sanctuary, I love metroidvanias with more vania inspiration, so fighting focused is right up my alley. But I couldn't stand the camera view in salt and sanctuary the time I fired it up. I'll try again when I'm done with aeternum noctis. Heard great things about it so suspects it's good if you don't get annoyed by the camera.

Since s&s is on your list I'll recommend some other similar games:
Hollow Knight is honestly speaking the best metroidvania I've ever played. It's great fun and one of the few newer games I go through tons of times because it's just so damn fun.

Bloodstained ritual of the night is a very good vania game. Very much feels like the old castlevania games. Good at everything, great at nothing but if you don't feel like Hollow Knight is for you then try this.

I've heard that Axiom Verge is fantastic and more like Metroid. Bought it but haven't tried it yet as I'm more into the vania types. Will try it when I don't have anything else to play, also heard that .

Chasm & Timespinner are decent vanias that offer a rather casual experience. Neither deep or challenging but ok as games between games. In Timespinner case the side stories are quite lgbtq+ friendly.
Ender Lilies, Deaths gambit & Blasphemous are good as well. Also more on the vania side but a bit more difficult than Chasm and Timespinner.
I would recommend checking out

Monster sanctuary (metroidvania+pokemon) and The Messenger (action platformer+metroidvania) are a bit different but both are great games.

There are probably more foodies I'm forgetting, but these were the ones springing to mind. Can see what else I have on my steam list when I get home.

Any good rpg deals? Baldurs gate III etc?

Is cyberpunk worth giving another go?

I've been waiting and hoping BG3 would go on sale. Really want to give that a go.

me too, been checking weekly for a while now but doesn’t ever seem to be on sale. Perhaps as it’s still EA I believe.

Never played a Yakuza game before so I’m just starting Yakuza 0. Heard good things……
Things are now in motion that cannot be undone  . Never mind him. The Yakuza series is fecking awesome. Just skip 5. Trust me. Ain't worth 40 hours of useless filler for the last 10 hours of story. I started at Y6. Then tried 0 and my god, I can't believe I grew up not knowing of this masterclass series. Always thought it was jaut a GTA but Yakuza. How wrong I was. Kiryu is one of my favorite characters. I'm convinced he could beat batman hand to hand. I loved the Yakuza series. Just finished it 2 years ago. Enjoy! But yes it is very story driven and dialogue heavy. But it's sooo good. And Majima. Mad Bastard.

Yakuza 0 is fantastic.

I'm a little lost with regards to what to play next. After TLOU 2 I picked up Dishonored 2 dirt cheap but it feels like actual dirt right now. Looking what I've left to play from the Ps4 generation

- Judgment seems okay, not as hightly rated as 0
- Dragon Quest XI is turn based so I'll probably dislike it even though it's highly rated
- Resident evil village seems to have mixed reviews and is 10 hours short

Hmmm. Ideally I'd like a longer single player experience I can sing myself into but I think I'm running out of them for this past era!

After Hollow Kight (recently finished) I reckon the rest of the metroidvanias will feel like too big of a step this soon.

Yeah I’m very much annoying Yakuza. Upto Chapter 11 now, though I spent pretty much the entirety of yesterday just doing side quests and building my Real Estate Business so didn’t progress with the main story that much.

Finished the Pantheons?
Nah man. It's beyond me. I finished two and that was enough.

Considering replaying TLOU 2 on Survivor but trying to find another great single player game.

I thought the story and writing was just superb. I tried Kiwami but the drop in level was too much. Which is why I'm not sure about Judgment. I don't want to play zero light.

Have you played Greedfall by any chance? Fantastic RPG that will take about 30 hours.
