Yeah, Benn's pretty humble in defeat too and accepts it. Benn Snr having half his burger on his chin still

Yeah the scorecards were a bit wide but when heard it was unanimous at 116/112 the the right guy won.

Rematch will be fun

That was outstanding. One of the best fights for a very long time. Lived up to its billing for sure.

Thought the fight was much closer and surprised how the judges seen it as a 4 round win. Still think the right man won but only by 2 rounds potentially 3 max.

Overall a terrific fight and I really hope we get a rematch.

All boxing should be between fighters who are crap but actually want to kill each other. Cracking stuff.

They did what they needed to. The only way either of them is going to make major money in boxing going forward is by fighting eachother. It was a great spectacle and their rematch should be worth even more than this one.

Fantastic fight, scored it even myself with Eubanks taking the last 2.

Props to both fellas - hopefully the cards don’t take this piss

I had it the same. Had it even after round 8, 9 and 10 for Benn just, then last 2 to Eubank.

I have to say I’ve gained a lot of respect for Eubank tonight. He’s annoyed me a bit over the years but tonight I saw him put in a proper performance and show a hell of a lot of heart. He didn’t look right in his legs and was sluggish at times, probably due to the weight, but he found a way to deal with Benn with what he had available to him.

So according to the completely deluded Hearn, Connor Benn is now the people's champion.

I beg to differ.

It would have been a complete nightmare had Benn won this fight.

Dont think either fought the right fight but credit to both for giving it their all.

Eubank looked pretty weak at the weight tbh, certainly made it a leveller for the fight but not a good look.

I thought Eubank was always a couple of rounds ahead from about the 6th onwards so wasn't surprised to see him take a four round margin... although it could have been one, two or three (or maybe even a draw) on a scorecard or two and I've have seen it.

I thought Benn won 2 and 3 clearly but then of the second quarter of the fight that 4-6 could have gone either way. I thought Eubank won the last 6 rounds fairly clearly as well as the first.

Lots of moaning about the scorecards but the right decision on the winner anyway, a few close rounds and I think Eubanks could have won by 1,2 or 3 rounds. But he won, by how many rounds doesn’t matter.

I hope they don’t fight again for each of their sakes. It’s been done now, own it and move on

I got concussion just from watching it. For the sake of their health I don't want to watch a rematch. They did their fathers proud and let's leave it at that.

How did they manage to build this up so well and cheat so many people into buying tickets and box office? They're both average fighters, absolutely nowhere near their father's abilities. I'm amazed at the coverage. Yet again all you seem to have to do these days to put on a successful fight is be a prat on YouTube/social media.

Did you watch it?

Both have been operating at just below world level, Eubank for many years. I agree it was probably not worthy of a stadium fight or PPV relative to their standing, but there’s a long history of the general public lapping up so-called grudge matches, it’s certainly not the worst and won’t be the last, either.

Turned out to be very entertaining so I doubt many will feel duped afterwards.

This

Boring
There’s a difference between top fights and ‘big fights’, and the real top fights are usually very good, even if they don’t happen often enough.

The trick is to not get dragged into the hype of a ‘big fight’ and have expectations beyond the abilities of the two boxers. Rarely, even if 2 boxers appear to despise each other, does it play out like that if they are not elite level fighters.

At least Benn and Eubank showed a determination to give absolutely everything to get the win, which made for a very good fight in the end.

No, I'll save my box office money for proper top level fighters.
It depends what you want. Styles make fights and sometimes 'proper top level fighters' churn out an absolute borefest.

Last night, they just decided to throw down in a phone booth with enough technical ability to roll with it and keep the fire lit. It wasn't Mayweather level but god it was a great watch

Was a good tear up, maybe not the best in terms of skill but both fighters left it all in the ring and put on a show

I thought eubank won it but was expecting a draw from the scorecards given we know part 2 will almost certainly happen

The problem with the fight was always going to be the weight class disparity - Benn not big enough to really hurt Eubank and Eubank too underweight to carry any real power - it's not a fight that should happen really but I guess the marketing was too obvious to avoid. They'll both make a lot of money out of it and fair play to them - it's a dangerous sport and people want to see it

Yeah agree with this. If I could be arsed I’d watch back with the cards to see where the 4 different Eubanks rounds were but I don’t think I’m invested enough

What surprised me was that Eubank seemed to win the exchanges when they went toe-to-toe. Being the bigger man, with the longer reach, I thought he'd struggle if Benn got inside his range, but I thought his left hook was landing quite a bit when they slugged it out. He seemed to be going to the body a lot, too, which seems to have paid off in the later rounds.

Good fight.

Great for those who watched that it turned out to be a good fight.

Two blokes in different weight classes, both fairly successful in their various weight classes (Benn was actually on the up), no real rivalry between them bar the history with their dads, then the whole egg nonsense. Just felt like a fraud engineered by promoters to make box office money on what is not a box office fight, and in my mind should have never been a fight.

Finding the hate for this fight odd tbh. They're both actual boxers with a fair bit of talent and both gave a good showing. I understand why people hate the influencer fights but if two pretty decent boxers could put on a show and people wanted to watch then I can't quite get my head around why anyone has an issue with that.

If you’re a purist, fair enough. It was far far more entertaining than many high profile fights between better quality boboxers
Fair play to them both for getting in the ring as it takes a lot of balls. From what I hear it was a good entertaining scrap. What annoys me is how it can be considered "box office" and sell out arenas. Let's be honest, if not for their dads, would this even happen? It's roberry from Hearn and co. Like the YouTube fights.

Robbery? They offered a product and it provided great value for money for those who happily paid for it.

Who was robbed?

Their product is way overpriced. The public deserve so much better for PPV. Especially when everything is a lot more expensive these days and you have to be more careful with money.

It was a bargain. Hours of entertainment for £20.

I don't feel robbed and I reckon very few of the hundreds of thousands of other people who will have paid for it will feel robbed either.

Fair enough. I am probably being over the top with it, I am annoyed at the last decade or so in boxing with the "fake boxer" fights. Benn & Eubank are actual boxers so it's slightly different, but all the same I feel like it's not right that they get a PPV event, they're not at that level IMO. If they get to that level fair enough, but they have to do a lot more, especially Benn. Imagine you are working putting everything in your career as a young boxer and you see these YouTubers just wander in and taking the top purses? Or Benn & Eubank getting the PPV because of who their dads are? I'll say it again, they would never be getting this if not for their dads.

Well, I’m an IPTV larker so PPV or not doesn’t ever register in my mind
